Searching for a new breed of astromoner
    2008-05-23 20:43:22
The future of fundamental physics research lies in observing the early universe and developing models that explain the new data obtained. The availability of much higher resolution data from closer to the start of the universe is creating the potential for further significant theoretical breakthroughs and progress resolving some of the most difficult and intractable questions in physics. But this requires much more interaction between astronomical theory and observation, and in particular the development of a new breed of astronomer who understands both. read more

If you think mail boxes are a dying breed, sorry but you are dead wrong! Even if some companies are already slowly converting to sending statements of accounts via e-mail, however most of our bills still find their way through our mail box. It is also a fact that there are some documents which could not be sent via the internet but which still need to be physically delivered to recipients. Yes, there are a few remaining things that the electronic mail has not been able to replace yet, which is why mailboxes are here to stay for awhile. Mailboxes can come in varying designs. There are those for individual home use, and there are those catered for commercial, apartment or condo usage. There is an online store, the mailboxixchange.com which is dedicated to bringing the widest selection of residential and commercial mail boxes to the internet. You do not need to weave in and out of different manufacturers’ website to make your choice. Just go make a click and you can check on different

Is Enterprise Software a Dying Breed?
    2008-03-24 10:55:00
Douglas Merrill, CIO of Google was quoted in the March 18, 2008 issue of the Wall Street Journal:"Fifteen years ago, enterprise technology was higher-quality than consumer technology. That's not true anymore. It used to be that you used enterprise technology because you wanted uptime, security and speed. None of those things are as good in enterprise software anymore [as they are in some consumer software]."Consumer software, especially free to very low-cost online software such as Google Docs and Basecamp have leveled the playing field for small businesses. I can't wait to see what's next.

Girl Gamers, Not Such A Rare Breed After All!
    2007-11-15 17:55:00
My wife has recently started a new blog to kind of vent about her daily life. I suggested she do a guest post on my blog to kind of get the ball rolling and she agreed. If you enjoy her writing style be sure to check out Too Busy To Notice. "I have heard a lot of talk recently about girl gamers. The comment was posted about girl gamers being a rare breed and the conversation blossomed from there. Are female gamers a rare breed? It all depends on who you ask! "I being a girl have to admit that certain types of gaming hold quite a bit of interest for me. I've been gaming for a number of years and have played in a variety of table top and live action game settings. My first gaming experience was with a live action Vampire game that I got into in 1996. I had never been exposed to gaming prior to this. Sure I played Monopoly and Scrabble with my parents growing up, but that's not quite the same thing. Board games are a whole different entity. I played in live action game settings for a number of years. The games that I was involved in were so large though it was more like a theater group than a game setting. It was a blast nonetheless. "Soon after my experience with live action gaming, I was introduced into table top gaming. I started with tabletop vampire and branched out to include D&D. I have to admit when I was 21 D&D made no sense to me because it was a lot of math and attention to details. I wasn't used to that sort of gaming. Life happened continued and I gamed here or there when I got the opportunity. Now that I am married to a very enthusiastic gamer and computer nerd, my horizons have been broadened even more. We've played in a variety of game settings including both live action and tabletop. I have to admit that I am quite partial to tabletop at this point because I don't have to worry about getting dressed up to portray my character. It's a more personal gaming group set in a friendly environment at a house rather than a publi

Toyota and its New Breed of Hybrids
    2007-10-18 04:28:38
Toyota after exceeding its 1,000,000 unit mark for total of hybrids sold worldwide was very happy to claim the production of the most highly shifted hybrid range. Moreover a hybrid version of Toyota’s Highlander 4x4 will hit showrooms this month which clearly implies that the hybrid editions in increasing and therefore would require for a unified design direction. The idea is to give hybrid buyers something aesthetically worthier of this statement over a conventional gas model."

    Scientists breed skim milk-producing cow
    2007-05-28 23:51:33
Found this on Science Daily:AUCKLAND, New Zealand, May 27 (UPI) -- Scientists in New Zealand have successfully bred a cow that produces skim milk and the firm behind the process said herds of the animals are on the horizon.*sigh* "She produces a normal level of protein in her milk but substantially less fat, and the fat she does produce has much more unsaturated fat," Snell said. "She also produces milk with very high levels of omega3 oils." Of course it has to be the saturated fats, next we will have low fat cows...

    Real Anarchists Don't Breed
    2006-03-12 09:58:00
I don't agree with most of this article but it's an interesting perspective and one I'm getting sick of hearing half-assedly espoused so I thought I'd chuck this up here so we can dissect it, digest it and spit it back out as some better assemblage of ideas for the future.Brought to you by the interesting wackos at the Voluntary Human Extinction MovementBy Les U. KnightWe anarchists have many reasons to avoid procreation today. Our redundant breeding feeds the very forces we are trying to counter, and prevents us from living as freely as we might.Capitalism is dependent on a growing population and an expendable work force. Labor gains power when the need for workers is higher. As demands for supplies are reduced, and markets cease to grow, economic changes we aspire toward will more easily be achieved. Sustainable economic systems could replace out-dated "slash and burn" methods when consumers are fewer in number.Society's institutions are dependent on our producing families. Chur

The History Of The Paisley Breed Of Dalmations
    1999-11-29 18:00:00
During the past century, there has always been a strong bond existent between British dog fanciers and the Dalmatian. It is said that these dogs have been known there for the past 200 years, and there has even been exploration of a theory that they are actually partially descended from the early English hunting hounds, the Talbot in particular, so similar are they to these dogs in type, character, and hunting ability.
