| Jerry Porter Hamstring Injury: Trouble Brewing? (Updated) | | 2008-07-18 17:12:22 | | [Note by River City Rage, 07/18/08 10:11 PM EDT ]UPDATE: Jerry Porter underwent a surgical procedure to repair his hamstring. Jaguars.com, to it's credit, has a very in-depth story on what happened. Clearly, this is now a "thing", and we'll monitor it closely. Now, do your homework this weekend and figure out the recovery rate of this injury.
John Clayton of ESPN is reporting that Jaguars Wide Receiver Jerry Porter will likely miss part of training camp due to a lingering hamstring injury from training camp. You'll recall that Jerry "came up lame" during a drill during OTA's that caused him to have limited participation in minicamp, this indicates that the injury is a bigger problem than we realized.
From Clayton:
Porter hurt the hamstring toward the end of an offseason practice in May, according to the Florida Times-Union. According to two sources, he will not be ready for the start of camp next Friday. Porter is expected to recover in time for the start of th... | | By: Big Cat Country - An Unoffical Jacksonville Jaguar | | |

| | BridgePort Brewing Company to Release Its Inaugural Fruit Ale | | 2008-04-14 16:50:00 | | By Angelo De Ieso IIOn April 24, 2008, Oregon’s oldest craft brewery, BridgePort will release the Stumptown Tart—a Belgian ale aged in pinot noir barrels and blended with a healthy amount of fresh Oregon marion berries. BridgePort brewmaster Karl Ockert says of the Tart “I’ve never done a beer like this. Period.” The base beer for the Tart was a Belgian golden ale that finished at about 8% ABV. “We split off about a third of that and we went to Carlton Wine Studio and picked up 23 French oak casks. On April 3rd, with the other two-thirds Ockert and company employed 2,000 pounds of Oregon marion berries and refermented with the fruit. They then blended the two with yeast and sugar for bottle fermentation. The beer was bottled on April 7th. The Stumptown Tart is a bold, extreme beer for which Ockert is realistic. “It’s an expensive beer to produce. We may never do this again.” He also recommends tasting the beer sooner than later. “It should age fairly well,... | | By: Belmont Station Beer Forum | | |

| Battle at RCB Brewing in Buffalo | | 2008-03-31 09:01:36 | | Greer, Youboty battle newcomer James to start (BuffaloBills.com) First, a note - be sure to keep your browsers locked in to Mocking the Draft starting this morning, as the 2008 SB Nation NFL Mock Draft is under way. With draft season approaching in full force, many fans of the Buffalo Bills have been discussing the possibility of their favorite team drafting a cornerback in the first round of the draft. With four cornerbacks (Leodis McKelvin, Mike Jenkins, Aqib Talib and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie) possibly representing the best value for the Bills when they choose at pick 11, such talk makes sense. When one takes a gander at Buffalo's roster, however, taking a cornerback doesn't make sense. The free agent addition of CB William James, formerly of the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants, has plunged Buffalo into a three-way race for the starting right cornerback job opposite Terrence McGee. That gives the Bills four legitimate NFL cornerbacks, all with ... | | By: Buffalo Rumblings | | |
| | Trouble was Brewing and I Knew It | | 2008-02-27 17:42:13 | | Salinda was pushing things. I knew she was going to keep pushing too. Refusing to speak to me, breaking rules, pushing everything to a confrontation. I was avoiding her as I knew that it wasn't going to go well. On the way home from school she stared at me disdainfully and refused to speak. I gave her a note listing consequences for her last violation. Then I was attempting to work here and heard just one too many rap songs blaring through the house. I asked her to turn it down, she did, but then turned it back up. I tried to confiscate the radio. There was a struggle. She hit me. No that hard, but she definitely punched me in the arm.Not going to happen. I'm not going to live like I did when John was here where people were going to punch me and not call law enforcement. Not going to set a precident where that is allowed to happen in this house. I called 911, officers came. She told her version of the story, including little barbs like "I should be able to hit people, i... | | By: Never a Dull Moment | | |
| | Heater-Allen Brewing in McMinnville | | 2007-11-01 15:57:00 | | I've been hearing rumblings about this place for a while now, and Jeff's post on Beervana jogged my memory and reminded me I need to call them. After getting of the phone with the Rick Allen, the affable owner and brewer for Heater-Allen, I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that he seems to be producing some great lagers and has been selling the beer almost as fast as he can brew it. The bad news, at least for us, is that he doesn't have enough suds to support a market like Portland. On a brighter note, I was told they have plans to upgrade from their current 20 gallon (not barrels, gallons) system to a "real" 7bbl system in the next few months. This should allow them to support Portland and possibly other areas as well.I'll do my best to bring in the beers as soon as they can supply them, but in the meantime you'll have to take a voyage to McMinnville and buy them directly from the source. Just be sure to call first as availablility is extremely limited. Many people lament the lack of lagers in our beery landscape, especially since the demise of Saxer, so these guys will definitely be a welcome addition to the scene.... | | By: Belmont Station Beer Forum | | |

| | Blogger virus attack - a storm is brewing. | | 2007-09-05 04:03:00 | | Just a quick post to alert you to something I just discovered. I think this deserves to be No 35 in my list of why I am moving away from Blogger:Google's Blogger site is being used by malicious hackers who are posting fake entries to some blogs. The posts attempt to lure readers to what is purported to be a legitimate link or a YouTube video but instead leads to booby-trapped downloads that could infect a Windows PC. The virus, named the Storm Worm or Virus is also hitting inboxes worldwide. I have had quite a few of these nasty emails myself.A Google spokesperson said: "The blog posts are likely from users' whose machines have been compromised by a virus.... Among the other recipients of spam e-mails generated by the virus are users' mail2blogger accounts, which allow them to update their blogs via e-mail,"Please go and read more on the BBC News site, where I originally read about this. A text box on the right hand side of the article gives some examples of the kind of text being used... | | By: Blogging Sueblimely | | |

| | Storm Brewing | | 2007-07-17 17:33:00 | | ב' באב תשס"זI dreamt.I was observing from within a deep deep sea laboratory civilization. Those in the laboratory were preparing to alter conditions on the surface world through creating a storm to disrupt the "plans of men" on the surface.Looking out from a side door of the laboratory observatory, standing in the ocean, I saw that to do this they routed a large volume of warm salt into a massive container (bigger than many football fields) sitting on the seabed in the cold cold deep deep ocean. Then they "put a lid on it" to increase the pressure of the warm salt (like warm air in cold air) trying to break free and rise to the surface of the cold ocean. This only worked in the cold cold deep deep ocean like the one we were working in.When there was sufficient pressure in the warm salt-containing container, they opened an opening and the salt burst out like a jet-stream bound for the surface. When the salt "reached the surface", a storm was the result. The stormy weather disru... | | By: Walking On Fire | | |

| | A Conspiracy is Brewing in the Northwest | | 2007-03-17 00:24:00 | | Release Parties Scheduled in Portland, OR Portland, Oregon • 14 March 2007 — The Pelican Pub & Brewery (Pacific City, OR) and Midnight Sun Brewing (Anchorage, AK) are inviting beer fans to join them in their Conspiracy: Conspiracy is a collaboration brew between Midnight Sun Brewing and Pelican Pub & Brewery. During a trip to Alaska for the Great Alaskan Beer & Barley Wine Fest, Ben Love of Pelican conspired with Gabe Fletcher and Ben Johnson of Midnight Sun to brew a Belgian-Style Black Beer. Conspiracy features a rich, spicy aroma with hints of dark fruit, raisin, roast and caramel. A toasted and slightly roasty flavor lead into caramel and a super smooth finish. Debittered black malt was used to get the jet-black color and tan head without adding significant roast flavor. The brewers also added Belgian candi sugar and Mexican Piloncillo sugar (a maple-sugar-like brown sugar) to increase fermentability and depth of flavor. Conspiracy comes in at 8.5 p... | | By: Belmont Station Beer Forum | | |
