LA Preview: GM releases teaser pic of 2010 Buick Lacrosse
    2008-08-26 16:14:00
Oh sure, we've already shown you spy shots of the 2010 Buick LaCrosse that reveal the kit and kaboodle, but don't let that take away from GM's release of a teaser shot showing the upcoming sedan's new grille. Along with the pic, GM confirmed that the new LaCrosse will debut at the upcoming LA Auto Show in November. We'll be there to cover the reveal, as this smallest of Buick sedans (for now) will be a big player in the brand's future success. It's nice and all to have a critically acclaimed full-size crossover in the Enclave, but more and more buyers are moving away from big CUVs into smaller vehicles at the moment, and Buick hopes they'll move right into the new LaCrosse.[Source: GM]Tag: LA Auto Show, Sedans Saloons, Buick...

Spy Shots: 2010 Buick LaCrosse caught completely uncovered
    2008-08-10 08:58:00
Though the newish Buick Enclave has received plenty of accolades, it's the right vehicle at the wrong time for GM's smallest brand. The other two vehicles in Buick's lineup – the LaCrosse mid-size sedan and Lucerne large sedan – might better appeal to gas-conscious buyers than a large CUV, but they're far from leaders in their segment. A new LaCrosse, however, will reportedly be arriving as a 2010 model. Car and Driver just published these spy shots of a pre-production model caught with its camouflage pants down, and they reveal its design will borrow heavily from the Invicta Concept that was revealed at this year's Beijing Motor Show. That's not a bad thing, as the Invicta is a fetching sedan that went over well with the Chinese crowds. And while we could be mislead by the grainy quality of these spy shots, we swear there are two rows of portholes on the hood. The '10 LaCrosse will likely arrive atop GM's Epsilon II platform that also underpins the upcoming Insignia and will next f...

    Spied: 2010 Buick LaCrosse
    2008-08-08 21:25:00
In just its third model year since debuting for 2005, the Buick LaCrosse is still a relatively new vehicle. While a freshening was expected—and confirmed earlier this year—for 2009, we weren’t under the impression that Buick’s mid-size sedan was being totally redesigned so soon. However, in light of these leaked photos of a pre-production 2010 LaCrosse, it appears GM has put the car on fast-forward. While grainy, these photos do give us the very first look at the car without camouflag...

    2008-07-07 13:21:00
Autoblog reader Mike dropped us a note the other day to let us he had spotted this car tooling around in Troy MI. Being a vigilant Autoblog reader he had a camera handy and snapped off a series of photos. Mike was unable to identify the car in question, but we've seen this machine before. It's the next generation Buick LaCrosse although it's not known if GM will retain that branding. The new Buick is built on GM's Epsilon II platform which is shared with the new Opel Insignia. Thanks to Mike for the photos![Source: Autoblog reader Mike]Tag: Spy Photos, Buick1...

    2008-06-12 22:03:00
The Long Green WalkOriginally uploaded by mistymisschristieEveryone always awaits the pep cars the golfers drive at the Fed Ex golf tournament. There are huge savings to be found. Here is how it works. There are GM vehicles sent to the Golf Tournament for the St. Jude Classic. The golfers drive them for the week. They are then sent back to the local dealers to sell at discounted prices--(Re-Invoiced).The Cars, Trucks, and SUV's usually are sent back to dealers with 200 or 300 miles, maybe more if you are lucky. The more miles, the more GM discounts them. Everyone in the Memphis area look for these deals every year. The majority of the vehicles are Buick and some GMC's. There are Buick Lacrosse, Buick Enclave, Buick Lucerne, GMC Acadia, GMC Yukons, just to name a few. This is probably the main cars that are sent. But, you can now get extra savings along with ALL applicable rebates. The only thing you cannot do is use your employee or supplier pricing. In the past you could not use GM Car...

    Buick Invicta Concept (Beijing 2008)
    2008-04-30 15:05:00
Invicta -- the star of GM's stand at the 2008 AutoChina show in Beijing -- is also widely believed to be what the 2010 Buick LaCrosse that's been spied testing will become when it makes its appearance on Buick showroom floors in both China and the U.S. The LaCrosse is a nameplate sold both here and in China, but the cars are substantially different. That will change with the next LaCrosse, which will be underpinned by GM's global Epsilon II architecture. The Epsilon II is front-drive based but all-wheel drive capable. Powering the Invicta concept is a version of GM's 2.0-liter, direct-injection turbo four cylinder with an estimated 250 horsepower and 220 lb-ft of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission....

Beijing Show 2008 Highlights: Buick Invicta Concept
    2008-04-22 00:10:00
The once proud all-American Buick brand is making its second renaissance - albeit away from its birthplace. The Invicta concept is the second Buick concept unveiled in China in the last two years, following from the Riviera concept unveiled at Shanghai last year. As with the Riviera, China has again played a significant role in designing, developing and premiering the car. The Invicta concept can best be described as a four-door luxury sports coupe, with styling that demonstates a good over...

Beijing 2008: Live reveal of the Buick Invicta concept
    2008-04-21 06:52:00
On the eve of the Beijing Motor Show ,General Motors Chairman Rick Wagoner and Design VP Ed Welburn along with their Chinese colleagues unveiled the Buick Invicta concept. Your regular Autoblog team didn't make the trek to China for this show, but our cohorts at Autoblog Chinese showed up for GM's Premier Night party to check out what will be the replacement for the current LaCrosse. The car was revealed sitting on a pool of water, perhaps implying that it is Buick's messiah, standing by to breathe new life into the brand Stateside. Buick is of course thriving in China, and some of the same team that created last year's Riviera concept participated in the styling of this new model. This design riding on the Epsilon II platform is expected to make the transition to production pretty much unscathed although the roofline might be slightly higher.[beijing, beijing 2008, beijing motor show, Beijing2008, beijingmotorshow, breaking, buick, buick invicta, buick invicta concept, buick-invicta,...

    Spied: 2010 Buick Invicta/LaCrosse
    2008-04-15 02:39:00
General Motors previewed its Beijing auto show "concept" Monday; the Buick Invicta sedan. The Invicta is said to hint at the next-generation LaCrosse, which will be built off the second-generation Epsilon (Chevy Malibu/Pontiac G6/Saturn Aura/Saab 9-3) platform, but really, what showgoers will see Saturday is pretty much the real car. Its styling, says GM interior design chief Dave Lyon, will feature modern interpretations of the Buick portholes (or "ventiports" as they were called in the '50s) a...

The facelifted Excelle, which by-the-way is based on the Chevrolet / Daewoo Lacetti, also features a redesigned interior. Buick’s new Chinese subcompact sedan will make its public debut later this month at the 2008 Beijing Auto Show. –More images after the jump...

New York Auto Show 2008: Buick Art and Design Talk
    2008-03-19 07:10:00
GENERAL MOTORS' BUICK DIVISION USED its yearlyNew York Auto Show luncheon at Cipriani to talk about art and design: the former being the theme of a pair of new TV spots featuring golfer Tiger Woods, the latter a key to Buick's design continuity since the '40s and the direction for forthcoming global products. On hand were GM's global VP of design, Ed Welburn, and his subaltern, David Lyon, formerly design chief at GM's Shanghai studio and currently executive director, interior design. Also on hand was the Buick Riviera concept coupe that Lyons and his team developed in GM's Shanghai lab, as well as its forebear, the 2004 Velite concept.Welburn offered a primer on Buick design cues, beginning with the YJob, a '50s-era design experiment by legendary GM designer Harley Earl. He said elements of cars like the Enclave SUV, the Lucerne sedan, as well as the Velite and Riviera concept sustain the trend."China is a growth area, but we need a single design aesthetic for both Asia [and the West],"...

New Car: 2009 Buick Lucerne Super
    2008-02-06 05:05:00
The Buick Lucerne Super -- with an MSRP of $39,395 including a $765 destination charge -- has the most expensive base price of any 2008 Buick. For the money, a Super driver gets a healthy dose of standard equipment, starting with a tweaked 4.6-liter Northstar V-8 engine delivering 292 horsepower, up from the Lucerne CXS's 275 horsepower Northstar, but curiously down eight horses on the 5.3-liter V-8 in the LaCrosse Super.Nevertheless, the Lucerne Super is set apart from lesser Lucernes with its ...

Execs say Buick to get more “bold”, “dramatic”
    2008-01-01 06:58:30
Through the success of the Enclave, Buick has discovered that nicely designed, well-built, high content vehicles sell. Being the first Buick in a long time to log advance orders, GM thinks it might be onto something with the Enclave formula. That recipe consists of bolder styling than past Buicks, with cues coming from the Velite [...]...

    2008 Buick Enclave Has Arrived
    2007-06-07 06:43:00
The 2008 Buick Enclave has arrived in the showrooms! Everyone has much anticipated its arrival and its finally here. GM has finally given a vehicle for Buick to compete even if it competes with other GM brands. The GMC Acadia has been a super seller and the Buick Enclave should see great results as well. The one that I have seen personally has leather, heated seats, 2 sunroofs, DVD, and several other little bells and whistles and lists for $39200 which is actually comparable on price to its GMC sister vehicle. Stop in your local Buick showroom and take a look at this 3 row crossover GM jewel! ...

Buick to revive Skylark nameplate in China
    2007-05-25 10:05:35
The Skylark had its days in the 80’s and 90’s. The impression that remained of the Skylark was certainly not positive. However, GM did not market the Skylark outside of the US. So the nameplate will be revived in China for the successor of their Excelle compact sedan, based on the Daewoo Lacetti. The Skylark will sit on GM’s new Delta II platform, which will underpin the next Cobalt, G6 and Saturn Astra. The Skylark will be engineered and built in GM’s Chinese facilities and it may be one of the first vehicles from GM China destined for the US. While we have little or no idea on how it will shape up, we can predict that it will be widely received in the US. The Park Avenue, based on the Holden WM Statesman, had a distinct interior designed in China and we still hear pleads from GM enthusiasts to bring it over to the US. While GM already had three compact cars in the pipeline, it wouldn’t hurt for a fourth one. But the real question is: Are Americans ready ...
