| | Calais Goes to Arizona | | 2008-04-26 18:58:00 | | I didn't pick him as one of the guys I wanted because he underperformed here in Miami. But I still wanted him to be picked as high as possible. I feel for him, because he was a Top 10 pick last year. That is a whole lot of guaranteed money lost on the table. He should do well in Arizona, where he has guys like Antrel Rolle and Edgerrin James to welcome him into the NFL. He has got a lot to learn, but has the passion and physical tools to become a top defensive end in the NFL. Next up should be Tavares Gooden in the next hour, or early tomorrow morning. Good luck to him as well.... | | By: State of Miami | | |
| | NFL Draft Prospect: Miami Defensive End Calais Campbell | | 2008-02-26 20:15:06 | | Calais Campbell eating a sack lunch With the Combine behind us, pretty much, we're going to take a quick look at the players who's name pops up in the rumor mills and the mock drafts. Depth will fluctuate depending on the information and the timing. Our first quick look is University of Miami Defensive End Calais Campbell. From SI.com Calais Campbell, Miami: Campbell's struggles continue, as he capped a mediocre junior season with a poor combine. He measured just over 6-7 1/2 and 290 pounds, yet completed a measly 16 reps on the bench -- worst of any defensive linemen who participated. Campbell then ran his 40s near the 5.1 mark and looked winded at the end of the practice session. Now, you won't see me talk too much about "draft stock", but I'm breathing a sigh of relief that Campbell is struggling a bit through the process. I see far too many draft projections that show him available when the Jaguars pick at 26. I talked to se... | | By: Big Cat Country - An Unoffical Jacksonville Jaguar | | |

| Kenny and Calais at the Combine | | 2008-02-26 15:55:00 | | Campbell worked out yesterday, and had what I felt was a slightly disappointing outing. I know he's huge and all, but I was under the impression he was a little faster than that 5.0 40. Although the 40 is pretty useless for DL, he didn't stand out in any of his other workouts as well. That being said, his frame is enough to land him a spot in the late first round.Kenny was the recipient of the greatest evaluation I've ever seen on NFL Network. His positives were standard "speed" "toughness" and whatnot, but his negative was "Not Ed Reed". I don't know what else to say except that it's hilarious that his most prominent negative is that he isn't someone else. His workouts were pretty good, having finished as a top performer in the bench press and running a solid 4.55 40 (with a pretty weird running technique, so he might be faster). I'm pretty sure he will be picked in the 1st round as well. It's unlikely he'd slip past the Dolphins at #32.Also, a note on Tavares Gooden. He has been doin... | | By: State of Miami | | |
| | Calais Makes it Official | | 2008-01-03 19:14:00 | | Though it had been reported on this site weeks ago and by several sources, Calais Campbell apparently never made it "official official" that he was entering the NFL draft. Well now its official. This comes as no surprise to anyone around the team or anyone who follows NFL Draft coverage. A 6'8 280 pound DE with excellent speed is going to go in the first round. Period.Calais may have struggled mightily this year versus double teams, particularly against the run. He also got thrown around like a rag doll by Oklahoma's massive offensive linemen. However, his measurables and still semi-respectable production will be enough to get him in the first round.Seeing as how he has his degree and this team has no real hope of winning a title next year, there was no point in him sticking around. Honestly, though I really like the guy, he probably won't be missed that much. The depth at DE is really thin, but Calais' impact was minimal at times. Though he drew double teams, the rest of the team r... | | By: State of Miami | | |
| | Calais | | 2006-01-15 07:51:00 | | Does it ever end? Do we ever live happily ever after in the beautiful mansion on the hill with our perfect teeth and bottomless bank account? The obvious answer is no. So why do I spend so much of my time fantasizing about just that? Our really good friends have just decided to leave L.A. in search of better jobs and cheaper houses. Probably 90% of our close friends right now will do the same thing within the next 3 years. We would like to stay, but there's just no telling how things will ultimately pan out for us here. In our five years of marriage we have already moved 10 times. Now that we are supposedly "settled" here in L.A., a frequent conversation topic is what we'll do when we retire. How many years until we can retire. What other options Adum has to work in different cities. I am trying to put down roots but at the same time have a zillion back up plans to resort to when our ideal plan goes to pot. It makes my brain hurt. I know somewhere in my head that since we obviously h... | | By: Hollywood Flakes: Get 'em While They're Hot | | |
