| A Candidate Everyone Can Agree On | | 2008-07-14 01:49:47 | | Hello my fellow Americans. It's come to my attention recently that we are preparing to have an election for a new President. I wasn't aware that we needed a new one but then I remembered that they do tend to wear out rapidly. And everyone always forgets the common maintenance chores that would extend their usefulness; like changing the oil policy and rotating the troops. So I decided to take a look at the new models and I must say I'm disappointed. The two leading candidates are not what I would call fully-loaded. The older model seems to be a lot like the previous one. A smooth ride, but hell on mileage. And the newer model looks like it is equipped with a bunch of untried accessories and seems to be underpowered. And neither of them come with cup holders. So I decided to throw my tam into the ring. I'm now announcing the:DON LEWIS FOR PRESIDENT CAMPAIGN 2008!"It is time that this Great Nation "truly" receives change for change sake! And I have change to spare! And after my inauguratio | | By: It\'s a Funny Thing... | | |

I am proud of what the democrats are doing with being so historic with these two candidates with Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. However, the candidate that I am going to endorse is Barack Obama because I want change. I think he would be more electable than her when it comes in November. | | Funny adult jokes-Candidate in Legislature | | 2008-06-01 02:04:00 | | A husband and wife are campaigning for a friend who is contesting the local elections. They both become so busy that they do not think of anything else but about the elections - so much so that they communicate about everything in political language. One night the husband wants to have sex desperately, but seeing the wife busy doing some work, goes to her and says, "I would like to put my candidate in your legislature. "The wife, not realizing this was meant for something else, without raising her head says, "Our party is not going to accept this."The husband is disappointed but he goes to sleep. After some time the wife realizes what the husband meant, so she wakes him up and tells him, "Darling, now you can put your candidate in my legislature. "The husband replied, "Sorry, I cannot do that. My candidate stood independent and lost his deposit!" | | By: Really funny jokes

| | One Candidate Out: No Patrick Roy Behind Avs' Bench | | 2008-05-16 08:47:07 | | According to Adrian Dater, Patrick Roy has decided that he is not actually interested in coaching the Colorado Avalanche next season. His sons still play for the Remparts and he'd like to see them through their major junior careers: But Roy said he does want to coach in the NHL at some point, probably when his younger son, Frederick, leaves junior hockey. "When Fred is done, it will be different," Roy said. "But this is OK with me for now." Frederick Roy, 17, a center, played five games for the Remparts this past season but is expected to play a larger role next season. Roy's older son, Jonathan, 19, has played goalie for the Remparts the last two seasons. So speculation on that particular subject can finally cease. For what it's worth, at the end of the article Dater casts Kevin Dineen and Todd McLellan as the top two candidates, with Pat Burns and Ron Wilson as more experienced but likely secondary. | | Are You The Best Candidate For Cheek Implants Procedure: The Plastic Surgery Institute of California | | 2008-04-28 06:33:00 | | The cheekbones are largely responsible for defining the face, highlighting the eyes and adding balance to the facial features. Altering the face’s bony features improves the overall facial harmony and beauty dramatically. With the help of the plastic surgery procedure called the cheek implants the shape of the face can be changed by rounding out the symmetry of the cheeks. The plastic surgery procedure is accomplished by adding an implant made of some sort of synthetic material, such as silicone, to the area around the cheekbones. Recovery time for the cosmetic surgery procedure is usually confined to one week. The best candidates for the cheek implant procedure are men and women in good health and having a clear, realistic idea about the plastic surgery procedure. | | Lasik Vision Correction - Are You A Good Candidate? | | 2008-04-13 05:38:00 | | Lasik vision correction is no longer promoted quite as widely and enthusiastically as it was only five years ago. Doctors are more cautious, and surgeons more discriminating when accepting patients as candidates for surgery. Generally candidates fall relatively easily in one of three groups - good candidates, "less than ideal" candidates, and those who definitely should not consider a lasik procedure. As with so much in life, extremes are contra-indications. Lasik vision correction is probably only a good idea for healthy people who have a low to moderate eye problem, and who find eyeglasses or contact lenses annoying or restrictive. [ lasik , patients , surgery ]Good candidates You need to be more than 18 years of age; lasik is not approved for anyone under that age, as young eyes change too much. You will have had a stable prescription for corrective lenses for at least two years - also to ensure that your eyes are not changing too much. | | Am I a LASIK Candidate? | | 2008-03-14 06:09:00 | | If you have vision problems, you may have heard of or been considering LASIK, but do you know if you are a good candidate for the procedure? Many, perhaps most, people could be a candidate for LASIK or for one of its variants. Part of qualifying for it has to do with your eyes, part with your general health, and part has to do with your attitudes and preferences. Your LASIK surgeon would talk with you, examine your eyes very thoroughly to make sure LASIK would be safe and appropriate for your particular eye conditions, and explain how it is done.Factors related to your eyes 1. Vision stability You would need to be aged 18 or over, so that your eyes would be fully matured. Your glasses or contact lens prescription would have to be stable for at least one year, so that your eyes would be established as stable in their refraction status. (Refraction refers to the way eyes bend light as it enters them, and this is the basic aspect of vision which LASIK corrects.) [ lasik , lasek , lasic ]2. | | By: LASIK. | | |

| | Find The Losing Presidential Candidate | | 2008-02-07 11:48:00 | | I have to admit, I find this funny. Topps is putting out a special card this year of Your 2007 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox, and in the middle of it there is a superimposed picture of Rudy Giuliani, that "pseudo-Sox fan" joining in the middle of the celebration after the win in Colorado. You may remember that Giuliani really pandered to voters in New Hampshire last October when he said he was pulling for the Red Sox in the World Series because he was "an American League fan." He came off as the worst type of politician, who'll say anything just to get your vote.Wonder how he feels now that he's been shown in the middle of that pile of Red Sox players? He's got plenty of time to consider it these days, as he won't be welcoming the Sox, or any other team to the White House, as he won't be moving to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue any time soon. Here's more about the card: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/baseball/mlb/02/05/bc.bba.giuliani.redsox.ap/index.html | | By: The Mighty Quinn Media Machine | | |
| | Tax Foundation Releases Presidential Candidate Tax Plan Comparison | | 2008-02-01 00:00:00 | | With the upcoming 2008 presidential election, tax policy will soon be on voters' minds more than ever. Taxes are one of the central issues in any national election, and it is important for the public to understand candidates' general views toward tax policy as well as their positions on specific issues, such as the alternative minimum tax (AMT) and corporate tax rates. While some candidates have been more forthcoming and specific than others about their stance on various tax issues, they will all need to divulge and elaborate on their positions as the race progresses. To help voters sort through the details of each candidate's proposal, the Tax Foundation has released a comparison of the candidates' positions on the most important tax questions of this election. As 'potroast' correctly pointed out in a diary entry Tuesday, Giants' defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo is among the candidates to become head coach in Atlanta. If you were reading the news, a couple of other members of the Giants' organization were also mentioned as candidates for other key jobs. ESPN is reporting that offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride is a possible replacement for June Jones at Hawaii. In a somewhat surprising development, Chris Mara has interviewed with Atlanta for that team's vacant general manager job. Mara is currently vice president of player evaluation with the Giants -- whatever that is. This is the kind of thing that begins to happen when other people realize you have a good team and a quality organization. They start to come after your people. | | Greg Olson Emerging as Coordinator Candidate in Buffalo | | 2008-01-08 07:37:27 | | Time to put the roster breakdowns on hold, folks. It seems to be speculation at this point, but it's smart speculation - Mark Gaughan of The Buffalo News reports this morning that former Rams offensive coordinator Greg Olson is a rumored candidate to replace Steve Fairchild-Mularkey as Buffalo's offensive coordinator. "Former Rams coordinator"... sounds familiar, right? Olson was a candidate for Buffalo's offensive coordinator position back in 2006, after Dick Jauron had just been hired, and as he was assembling his first staff. Current Rams head coach Scott Linehan was a new coach at that point as well, and Olson - formerly the quarterbacks coach for Jauron in both Detroit and Chicago - took up the same post with St. Louis. Don't Panic While Olson's rumored candidacy doesn't provide us with the most thrilling name out there (he's no Cameron or Martz), he's qualified for the position. | | One Candidate Gets It. Not McCain. | | 2008-01-07 16:01:37 | | Ron Paul:"John McCain's statement in favor of keeping troops in Iraq for 100 years or longer puts him out of sync with the majority of Americans, who want our troops to come home. Further, his comments recklessly put America at risk as such a statement will likely serve as a recruiting tool for Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda, who appeal to radicals and incite violence against Americans by claiming that the US desires to occupy the Middle East indefinitely."McCain is an old Cold-Warrior who seems to think that we're facing down something akin to the Soviet empire, and all we have to do is stand firm at the front and not blink. He is in la-la land. What will happen is exactly what Paul describes above. With Pakistan teetering on the brink and Saudi Arabia at risk of an Islamic revolution sometime in the near future, an arrogant comment like McCain's is just about the stupidest and most reckless thing a presidential candidate could say. He might as well get himself a poking stick and dare them to carry out more suicide attacks. What a dangerous fool. | | 366 Mb 'Release Candidate' for Windows XP SP3 goes Public | | 2007-12-20 10:13:00 | | Microsoft has released to the public a near-final version of a major update to its Windows XP operating system. As of Wednesday, the 'Release Candidate' for Windows XP Service Pack 3 was available as a 336 Mbyte download from Microsoft's Web site. The software had previously been available only to participants in Microsoft's official test programs. Software vendors usually issue a release candidate when they're close to producing a final version of a product or update. It provides a last chance for users to weigh in before a final version is released to manufacturing. Microsoft says it considers the Release Candidate for Windows XP SP3 to be trial software and warns users to download with caution -- and at their own risk. "Microsoft does not recommend installing this software on primary or mission critical systems," the company states on its Web site. He has dissolved parliament recently, and appointed a close ally prime minister. He has promised to take part in parliamentary elections, with victory assured. He will be elected prime minister. From there, Putin will either sap powers from the presidency making the prime minister’s office the most important one (which has no term limits, by the way), or will manipulate the lame-duck president from the shadows.

Well, they could genuflect to the Inquisitors of the conservative movement who now permeate the right-of-center blogosphere. | | | Another KO of the Year Candidate | | 2007-10-15 09:37:00 | | The whole Round:The Replay:This KO of the year candidate for the year 2007 was caused by a devastating left hook from current IBF middleweight champion Arthur Abraham. This fight was Abraham's fifth defense of the IBF middleweight title he won from Kingsley Ikeke on December 10,2005.The defending champion, Arthur Abraham had a record of 23-0-0 with 19 KO's coming into this great fight. He came into prominence following his battle against Edison Miranda. He won a unanimous decision despite suffering a broken jaw from the power punches of Miranda. Ghevor on the other hand, had a decent record of 27-2-0 with 15 KO's before he challenged Abraham for the middleweight title. He had a winning streak of 16 straight wins but he hasn't faced any opponent of Abraham's level. He has also been knocked out by fellow contender Lukas Konecny so perhaps he has a suspect chin. But then again anybody who takes a shot like that will probably go down in a heap. | | By: Pinoy Boxing

| | Christian Conservatives Consider Third Party Candidate | | 2007-10-01 21:03:00 | | In an interesting twist, a large coalition of Christian conservatives met in Salt Lake City to discuss a possible third-party candidate if Giuliani is their nominee. Let's take a look at what could happen as a result.1. The first conclusion is obvious: Giuliani will win the nomination, but the Democratic nominee will easily win the presidency because the normally Republican votes will be split by the third party candidate.2. This effort on the part of these conservatives will scare the Republicans enough to vote for somebody other than Giuliani in the primaries, thus perhaps achieving the coalition's real goal of both getting rid of Giuliani and having a shot at the White House in 2008, though they may be disappointed if Romney is the alternative.People don't seem to consider the second possibility. | | By: I Hate Your Opinions | | |

| | Huckabee Is Only GOP Candidate That Makes Sense | | 2007-09-25 20:59:00 | | In examining the Republicans running for the presidential nomination, one thing is clear. Each one is uniquely and perhaps fatally flawed as a candidate, except possibly Mike Huckabee, who is rising modestly but steadily in polls. To Republicans, Mitt Romney is the Mormon flip-flopper, Giuliani is the surprisingly liberal temporary frontrunner on the decline, Thompson is a complete bozo who will undoubtedly self-destruct at his first debate, if not sooner, and McCain is of questionable mental stability (Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran...) The only one who seems to fit the bill is Huckabee, who has been cashing in on his unexpected second place finish at an Iowa straw poll won by Romney, who outspent the former Arkansas governor by massive proportions. Huckabee has gained a surprising amount of attention for the success, in the poll event that most of the frontrunners skipped."With all due respect, what we see in some of these campaigns is, yeah, they raise a lot of money but they spend so darn much money and I can't see that they're getting their money's worth, if you look at that they're not further ahead in the polls, to have spent that kind of dough. It just doesn't make sense," Huckabee said in a RealClearPolitics interview, in reference to candidates like Giuliani and Romney who have raised far more money to fund their campaigns than Huckabee has so far. His point may resonate with those who believe the presidential election has become a massive outspending extravaganza.Huckabee is touting his experience governing Arkansas for 10 years in the context of foreign affairs and running the country, in a race that includes a businessman with a few years of political experience (Romney) a mayor, and two senators (McCain and Thompson) more versed in legislation than running a state. Huckabee also brings up his management of the 75,000 Katrina refugees who fled to Arkansas. Another plus for Huckabee is his ability to work with a largely Democrat legislature while in office as governor, when Congress will almost surely maintain its healthy Democrat majority in 2008.Huckabee will do well with the religious right as an ordained Southern Baptist minister. He raised some eyebrows in a Republican debate when he admitted to not believing in evolution. But if there's anything that primaries have shown in the past, it's that leaning to the far side of the political party works.Huckabee is a pleasant speaker with a colorful sense of humor. (At a Republican debate, he famously said: "We've had a Congress that's spent money like John Edwards at a beauty shop.") He seems to possess eloquence that Thompson, McCain, and Giuliani lack. Combined with the failings of each of his major competitors, I predict that Huckabee will almost certainly be a threat when primaries begin. | | By: I Hate Your Opinions | | |

He was the great communicator. He believed so strongly in certain principles and was resolute about them. He was believable because he believed."Mitt Romney: "As I've gotten older, Reagan keeps getting smarter and smarter. I'm a believer in markets, I'm a believer in American freedom, I am optimistic about America's future. I share the same optimism that Ronald Reagan had. As you can see in the video, however, McCain's comment was clearly made in jest. More interesting, though, was another exchange from that same event when a high school student asked McCain about his views on gay marriage. After McCain's response, the student, who is bisexual, said, "I came here looking to see a good leader. I didn't find one." CNN interviewed that student the next day.Barack | | By: Political Realm
| | A good candidate for plastic surgery: | | 2007-09-03 07:00:00 | | Am I a good candidate for surgery? This is one of the most frequently asked questions from people around the globe to surgeons. The answer is just as simple as the question. An irresolute patient is not a good contender for plastic surgery. A patient with unrealistic goals also contributes to not be a good applicant for surgery.People with health problems like diabetes, hypertension, lung disease, heart disease, high cholesterol, arthritis, emphysema don’t generally form good candidates for cosmetic surgery. An emaciated, severely depressed, corpulent or someone who is a chain smoker or heavy drinker does not make a good applicant for surgery. Most plastic and cosmetic surgeons will ask potential patients a sequence of questions upon their original. The idea of asking the questions is to calculate whether the patient is genuinely bearing in mind plastic surgery to look and feel in good health, or if the patient is in quest of plastic surgery as a means of camouflaging emotional suffering. At Plastic surgery Institute of California, we help you evaluate your goals and help you decide whether or not you should be ensuing cosmetic surgery.Know more: www.plasticsurgeryinstituteofcalifornia.com | | By: Plastic Surgery Institute Of California | | |

Now, he's attempting to parlay the fame and recognition that followed into the Republican nomination.Giuliani became a US Attorney in 1970, and was appointed by President Reagan as Associate Attorney General in 1981. During his time in the Justice Department, he prosecuted a number of high profile cases, including Marc Rich's tax evasion and several leaders of New York crime families. Initially a Democrat, Giuliani became an independent and later a registered Republican. In 1989, he lost a narrow mayoral race, but came back to defeat David Dinkins in 1993. His tenure as mayor is one of controversy and success. He worked with the New York Police Department to reduce crime during his two terms and oversaw a revitalization of the city's business community. After returning home, he received a law degree from the University of Virginia. He was elected the state's attorney general in 1993 and became governor in 1997. Though he is not as associated with 9/11 as Rudy Giuliani, Gilmore was serving as governor when the Pentagon was attacked. | | Candidate Profiles: John McCain | | 2007-05-11 06:14:00 | | BACKGROUNDAfter mounting a better than expected run for the Republican nomination in 2000, Senator John McCain flirted with the idea of creating a unity ticket with John Kerry in 2004. He eventually opted to embrace President Bush, setting the stage for his bid in 2008.Following in the footsteps of both his father and grandfather, John McCain joined the Navy and served as a fighter pilot in Vietnam. His plane was shot down in combat and he was captured and held in the Hanoi Hilton, a North Vietnamese prison, where he was tortured. McCain declined the offer to be released (given because of his father's high position in the US Navy), but was eventually released in 1973. He moved to Arizona in 1980 and was elected to Congress two years later. Following the retirement of Barry Goldwater, McCain won election to the Senate in 1986, where he has served since.McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone, though he attained US citizenship at birth. This is today's 7:00 question, and a response.------------------------------------------------------------How much does it matter to you if a presidential candidate has military experience?Having military expertise is an added bonus, but not a necessity. To run for president, one has to be 35 years old. That would mean that the only candidates with military experience would have fought in Vietnam, or MAYBE in the First Gulf War.
