This is the same sky at the same time, with one shot on zoom. I am always fascinated by the cloud formations here, especially at dusk and on stormy days. On this day we had intermittent rain all day and night, so I was expecting some great shots on my way home from the spa. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoy taking them!Tags: Photographs, Parrot Cay, Turks and Caicos, Caribbean, lynda lippin

Vickie Freed Is New Sr. VP-Sales at Royal Caribbean International
    2008-01-23 07:57:33
While it comes as no surprise to me that she was going to move somewhere, it was a monumental announcement that it would be Royal Caribbean. Royal Caribbean International named former Carnival Cruise Lines cruise industry veteran Vicki Freed as the company’s senior vice president of Sales. Main competitors for many years, this will be a big shakeup in the cruise industry in the battle between the big two. Freed joins the company after 29 years with Carnival Cruise Lines, where she spent the last 15 years as senior vice president of Sales and Marketing. Prior to that, Freed served in a variety of sales management positions within the cruise line. From 1998 to 2000, Freed also served as the first, and only, female chairman of the Cruise Line International Association, the marketing and travel agent training arm of the North American cruise industry.

Royal Caribbean Cruise Guests Are Invited To Dance
    2008-01-10 18:07:41
Royal Caribbean International is inviting its cruisers to experience the “Dancing With The Stars feeling on the Explorer of the Seas. Two time champion Cheryl Burke of the TV show Dancing With the Stars is teaming up with Louis van Amstel, the Emmy-nominated choreographer for the ABC-TV show to enable guests on board to compete in some of the more popular dance disciplines like the Rumba, Samba, Cha-Cha, Waltz or Swing. From there they can dance into the spotlight in “Invitation to Dance,” the cruise line’s newest production show featuring guests as stars aboard Explorer of the Seas. “Invitation to Dance” transports the world of professional ballroom dancing to the high seas as only Royal Caribbean can do. I guess “Get out there” now refers to the dance floor.

Disney has always taken pride in giving guests more choices for vacation entertainment, and now offer the beautiful islands of the Caribbean and with special offerings for 2008 and 2009.

    Rumble: A New Caribbean Story
    2007-11-29 07:57:00
Loads of inspiration this month. An extract from a new short story I wrote about "Doing good to others".We reef the sails, as we see the clouds gathering. While we are still sailing in the sun, the darkness packs at the horizon. That is how it goes in the Caribbean this time of the year: sunshine one moment, rain the next. Under the threatening clouds hurrying towards us, we see the white foam on the waves. The wind will pick up soon. We are sailing to Petit St Vincent in the Grenadines. Everyone calls it “PSV”, for short. An island barely one mile in diameter, covered with palm trees and bush. It is not far anymore, maybe another half an hour of sailing. But we don’t not make it in time. The rain catches up with us, and before we know it, we are engulfed in a dense curtain of water gushing down. (Full story)

Then we sailed with a bareboat charter to Anguilla. Sailed and drove around the island for a week, and then sailed to St.Barthelemy (or St.Barth for short). Sailed and drove around there for a few days, and continued to Eustatia (or Statia as it is called more commonly). Continued a few days later to St.Kitts (or Sint Christopher, but nobody calls it by that name anymore), to return back to St.Martin via St.Barth's.We ended the holiday with a few more days in the Esmeralda r

    Royal Caribbean Changes Smoking Policy
    2007-07-23 19:48:00
By January 2008, 18 of Royal Caribbean’s 21 ships will go smoke-free in all staterooms. Additionally, at least one lounge on these ships will offer a completely smoke-free environment. The remaining three ships (Legend of the Seas, Rhapsody of the Seas and Splendour of the Seas) will follow suit by next summer. Under the current policy, smoking is prohibited in guest hallways and corridors, entertainment venues and most of the enclosed interior spaces on the ships. The new rules beef the policy up a bit, but without completely banning smoking across the board. Original post by Administrator

    Rumble: 69 in the Caribbean
    2007-06-15 09:14:00
Pete is a friend I got to know end of last year. He was my watch mate during our long sailing adventure from the UK via the Canaries onto the Caribbean. He just sent us a transcript of his handwritten log. Reading through it brought back quite some memories of this two month’s trip. Here is one, inspired by Pete’s log:“We lifted anchor at 1600 from the Sandy Spit - see picture- in the British Virgin Island, and headed south. We sailed through Thatch Island cut and then tacked upwind towards “The Bight” on Norman Island. Mark, SJ and Peter had visited this bay before and rated the “Pirates Bar and Restaurant” very highly. Peter said: “Leave the booking to me”, and he disappeared down below to read the Pilot Book for communications channels. A couple of minutes later back on deck he came and picked up the VHF handset. The Pirates Bar call up was on Channel 16. Once contact was made, “Pirates” asked to switch onto channel 69. So off went Peter (of course): “Hello Pi

Review: Pirates of the Caribbean 3- At the World's End
    2007-05-29 23:31:00
Ahh, all good things must come to an end eventually, eh? Unfortunately, the reason for that may be that the quality of "good things" tend to deteriorate as time goes by until they can no longer be labeled as "good". Now this rambling and not-too-logical introduction to this review basically sums up my opinion of this movie: better than "Dead Man's Chest", not as good as "Curse of the Black Pearl". I liked the added romance bits in the plot, especially the ending, very bittersweet. There was a confrontation scene between Elizabeth and Will that I really liked, very romantic. However, the action sequences got pretty repetitive after the first forty minutes. Attempts were made to add humour to the plot by having Jack Sparrow talk to himself...with the different sides of his personality appearing in front of him. It was funny the first time, after that, it just became plain weird. I liked the little bit of plot between Davy Jones and Calypso, except the accent of Calypso made it difficult to understand the dialogue at times. Will Turner doesn't have a very big part in the story in this movie as the plot is centered around Jack Sparrow and the Pirates vs English Navy storyline. I wouldn't have minded seeing more of Orlando Bloom in there... Anyways, if you stay until after the credits are over, there is a teeny weeny additional scene .(by teeny weeny, I really mean teeny weeny)Overall Rating: 3.5/5

Movie Review: Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End
    2007-05-29 06:11:28
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End was phenomenal! I highly recommend going out and seeing this movie if you get a chance. Whereas Shrek the Third was way too short for my liking, Pirates of the Caribbean was much longer and filled out (and completed) many of the storylines that we’ve been [...]

    Pirates of the Caribbean 2
    2006-07-23 01:51:00
I finally watched the movie today, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. I waited for awhile and today, on impulse, I decided to go alone, something that I've never done before. Anyways, back to the movie...I must say that Johnny Depp was brilliant as Jack Sparrow, he had the charm and the humour to bring out the character. Almost all the humour came from his character and his acting is great. He managed to make Jack humorous, cowardly, but a captain at the same time. Keira Knightly and Orlando Bloom were kind of bland. I mean, their acting was alright but it was just overshadowed by Johnny Depp. The story itself wasn't as good as the first one but the special effects were much better. But I think I'll still watch the third one when it comes out. (yes, I admit, Orlando Bloom is one of the reasons)
