win a ceramic flat iron from hana
    2008-07-10 20:05:00
I had the opportunity to try a new ceramic flat iron, the Hana Elite flat iron.I have to admit that I have been using my other flat iron pretty much every time I've washed my hair lately and while many people will say that it's bad for my hair, I've come to the conclusion that, yes it might be, but considering my wild hair, the flat iron is my only way to go.As I've complained here before, the main problem with my hair is that it's frizzy. And the iron has been the only thing able to tame this frizz. So while I know that I am not nourishing my hair by constantly using a flat iron, I am very happy with the way my hair looks these days.So being the flat iron expert now, I gave the Hana a try. :)What I love about these new irons is the size. I remember irons with plates so big that if you put a t-shirt between them you could iron it! This Hana is tiny, which makes it very easy to handle, portable, and perfect for detailing or layers or bangs. While most irons out there are only ceramic coa

    Hard Milling with Ceramic Inserts
    2008-05-27 09:23:09
Hard milling with ceramic inserts can help a mold shop to reduce manufacturing costs in several ways. First, a mold shop can replace several operations with one operation. Instead of machining, hardening and remachining, the use of ceramic inserts enables a shop to harden the steel first and then machine the part in the hardened form. This reduces manufacturing time and improves job tracking by reducing the number of times that you must set up and move a component through various manufacturing p

    Mary Harding Ceramic Artist
    2008-05-08 13:33:13
Ceramic PendantsMary Harding works mostly with earthenware, low fire clay. She likes the way the clay expresses itself even after multiple firings. There is always that element of the unexpected. She began making ceramic beads and pendants in 1998 when she had the good fortune to take a ceramic class with Ann Burnham and renew her ceramic skills. Soon, Mary was continuously engaged by the excitement of each new kiln load of beads.Fall Maple Leaf PendantThis elegant fall maple leaf, handmade from earthenware ceramic clay, makes a striking pendant. Fall colors are hand painted onto the pendant making each one a unique piece of art. Pendant measures 1 5/8 inches high by 1 1/4 inches wide.Mary grew up in the Southwest, which has certainly had a lasting influence on her love for Southwestern and Central American art. Moving to New York State fulfilled a wish to live in a land with green meadows and lots of water. Careful attention to the nuances of Mary Harding's work reveals the cross-curr

The latter is much more expensive. Thus, comparison of tool wear becomes most important. The two materials show marked performance differences in both size and surface finish in roughing, interrupted, and finishing cuts. Where to use ceramic inserts and silicon nitride inserts
    2008-02-01 10:31:06
All Irons... use silicon nitride in all applications...turning, boring, milling & facing. Use for roughing, semi-roughing, semi-finishing & finishing applications. Generally speaking, silicon nitrides can be used in all iron applications. All Irons... use the black (CC-20) and/or white (CC-10) ceramic on semi-finishing & finishing applications. They are less costly and harder than silicon nitride (more abrasion resistant & longer lasting). Steels below Rc58 in hardness...

    Flooring: Installing Ceramic Tile
    2007-03-01 10:34:00
By Mark Donovan Ceramic Tile brings a texture, richness and color to a room that Linoleum has yet to truly mimic. Tile floors can be installed in any room, however they are most frequently seen in Bathrooms and Kitchens. I particularly like them in entryways, where they serve as a transition point from the outside to large carpeted or hardwood floored rooms. They make for easy clean up and are impervious to water damage.Tile TypesCeramic tiles come in two basic types. Glazed and Porcelain. Glazed holds up the best for heavy traffic areas and porcelain works well in bathrooms. Porcelain is typically more expensive, so consider your budget and the size of the area you want to tile. Tiles also come in many shapes and sizes. For flooring, however, I would suggest using larger tiles up to 12” x 12”.UnderlaymentFor proper installation the base foundation or the underlayment is critical. Typically it consists of ¾” to 1 ¼” of plywood. Tiling over Linoleum or existing tile is also fe
