China's saber queen Tan Xue, a gold-taking point at the Beijing Olympics, is facing a tougher period, said Wang Jian, the leader of the Chinese national women's saber team on Sunday."Tan Xue's arch rivals have taken her as their No. 1 target and studied her tactics and techniques a lot. It seems hat her opponents have found the way to beat her," Wang said during the 2008 FIE Women's Saber World Cup Grand Prix in Tianjin. "Furthermore, Tan is not in her best form now and has to make some changes from now on," Wang added. As the women's saber silver medal winner at the Athens Olympic Games, Tan Xue is considered to be one of the top favorites for a gold at the Beijing Olympic Games. However, she lost to her teammate Bao Yingying 10-15 last week in the Grand Prix in Tianjin, and that was her best result of this season. The Boston Red Sox To Honor The World Champion Boston Celtics
    2008-06-20 04:40:00
By now on this Friday morning, you all know that the Boston Celtics won the NBA championship by humiliating the LA Lakers. Since the turn of the century, Boston has six world titles among the four major sports (baseball, football, hockey and basketball). No other city can make the same claim, and we here in New England and all of Red Sox Nation and Red Sox International should be proud. I know I sure am. It's only the fourth time an NBA team won it all in the same city as the previous World Series champions. That's something very special. And tonight, before the game with the St. Louis Cardinals, the Sox will honor the "Green Team" with a pre-game ceremony that will be attended by all the Celtics. And that's just great. Here are some thoughts from Kevin Youkilis and his manager, Terry Francona..."I think in this city right now, there's a certain air of confidence you have to have to play in this city and I think that the big thing is, the Celtics have that," Francona said. "It's not ea

Manny Pacquiao is The WBC Super Featherweight Champion of the World!
    2008-03-16 04:01:02
Filipino boxing sensation Manny Pacman Pacquiao is now the WBC Super Featherweight Champion of the world! Manny Pacquiao won the world title from Mexico’s Juan Manuel Marquez via a split decision, emphasized by a knockdown in third round and a charge in the latter rounds of the match to win by split decision. Tom Miller scored it 114-113 and Dwayne Ford had it 115-112 both for The Pacman, while Jerry Roth had it 115-112 for Juan Manuel Marquez. This is Manny’s seventh fight in a row - improved to 20-1 since 1999, with his only loss in a 2005 decision to another Mexican, Erik Morales. In that same span, Juan Manuel Marquez has lost only twice, the other time in 2006 to Chris John of Indonesia. The win improves The Pacman’s record to 46-3-2, while Marquez slid to 48-4. Juan Manuel Marquez moved fast, had good movement, and in my opinion, had more good body punches and counter-punches. But in the end, Manny Pacquiao got the better end of the exchanges and proved to be the better

Retro-Styled Champion 600 Guitar Amp by Fender
    2008-01-09 16:49:40
Fender introduced its hardest-working five-watt guitar amplifier. The not so expensive new Champion™ 600 guitar amp pays tribute to the cute and ultra-collectible 1949-53-era Champion guitar amps, serving up five blistering watts of all-tube tone, plus the classic cosmetics that make the original amps so desirable. The Champion 600 is the perfect low-output tube amp for practicing and recording, with a 6" speaker, simple controls, and that classic Fender "two-tone" look—brown and blonde vinyl covering, leather strap handle, and red jewel pilot light. Champion 600The low-gain circuit of the original was developed in conjunction with lap steels; the new Champion 600 has been updated to suit the needs of most guitarists with its 12AX7 and 6V6 tubes offering a bit more of that dynamic, natural overdrive when cranked. "The Champion 600 is beautiful in its simplicity; a straightforward tribute to some very collectable little amps." observed Shane Nicholas, Fender's Marketing Manager of Amplifiers. "By keeping it simple, it's also very affordable—perfect for tube amp novices and collectors alike. And it's so cute, you can sit it on the kitchen counter next to the toaster!" Champion 600 features include the aforementioned all-tube circuitry, a 6" Special Design speaker, high gain and low gain inputs, a single volume control, and an external speaker output. But this amp isn't about features; it's about that classic low-wattage tube amp sound.

K For Kishore And Champion Chalbaaz No 1- The Two New Reality Shows On Sony
    2007-12-22 08:02:00
It’s the time of reality shows. These shows earn a good business to the channel and are also liked by the viewers who are really bored from the daily melodramatic drama of the Saas-Bahus. The increased TRP of the shows also relate to this fact. Now Sony Entertainment Television is ready with its two new reality shows: “K For Kishore” and “Champion Chalbaaz No 1”. “K For Kishore” is a singing reality show. The concept of the show is to find the voice similar to the singing legend- Kishore Kumar. There will be 12 participants who will have to singt Kishore Da’s songs. So this show will remind us the golden period of 60’s and 70’s. Rajeshwari Sachdeva and Babul Supriyo will host the show and the judges will be Bappi Lahiri,Kishore Kumar's son Amit Kumar and Sudesh Bhosle. It will be aired on every Friday and Saturday at 9 pm from 21st December 2007. The main attraction of the other show “Champion Chalbaaz No.1” is its judges Sajid Khan and Cyrus Barocha. The base of the show is humour. This show is the Indian version of American prank show “Prankesters”. There will be 33 contestants who will play to win the title with their talent. Moreover there will be a celebrity pranker every week. So it seems to be a fully entertainment pack. Mona Singh is the host of the show. The show will start from 22nd December and will be aired at 10 pm every Saturday.

    Milan Fifa World Champion
    2007-12-16 07:31:51

    First Hungarian grand prix champion
    2007-11-04 07:38:00
(Click for galleries)I'm going to be brief since I don't like sports and I can't write about them but the first Hungarian motor grand prix world champion TALMÁCSI Gábor deserves a few lines. Hector Faubel won the 125cc season-finishing race at Valencia today but this wasn't good enough to defeat TALMÁCSI who with this second place had the most points total in the season. Former champions Franklin and Sylvia gunning for victory against champion and contender at UFC 77
    2007-10-19 02:28:49
When the roaring Cincinnati, Ohio crowd ushers in Rich Franklin to the Octagon against UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva on October 20, 2007, he will be minutes away from overcoming the most devastating loss of his career or reliving it. Can “Ace” conquer demons of the past? By Danny AcostaRich Franklin must search for a way to spin his own web against Anderson “The Spider” Silva in the main event. It was just inches past a year ago when the two mixed martial artists last met. The story was told in three minutes, but could be summed in one photo of Franklin’s redesigned nose.Gruesome knees by Silva—who dominated the clinch, where Franklin wanted the fight—saw the champion stuck in his Silva’s inescapable web.A dominating victory over Jason McDonald and a solid decision against Yushin Okami find Franklin challenging for the strap Silva ripped off him. Now Franklin knows to avoid the clinch, but against a Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, where does the Cincinnati-native find an advantage? The Brazilian is a nightmare fight for anyone at 185lbs (I forgot to mention he holds a black belt in taekwondo). Rich Franklin is not the exception. He is good at everything, but does not excel in any one area—especially next to Anderson Silva.Franklin’s triumph depends on effectively employing explosiveness and strength. He must demonstrate a willingness to stand—a dangerous proposition against the fluid striker—before pushing through a shot to bring the fight to the mat. Silva also has risky striking attempts such as jumping knees and kicks, which can bring the fight to the mat if capitalized on.Silva’s lanky frame poses just as many problems on the mat as it does standing for Franklin. The former math teacher needs to explore ground geometry and find his way to side mount and full mount, where his grinding strength and endurance can make the difference on the way to a technical knockout against the iron-chinned Silva. However, this is something ground specialists Travis Lutter and Nate Marquardt could not achieve. A fellow Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, Lutter did gain full mount against the Curbita native, but Silva remained composed and escaped, eventually submitting the Carlos Machado student. The multiple-time King of Pancrase failed to escape Silva’s guard. When he passed to half guard, he quickly found himself back in full guard and swallowed Silva’s sleeping pill punches later in the first round.Franklin needs to work at a high pace, staying on the champion with the same aggressive, controlling manner he attacked David Loiseau. Conversely, aggression against Silva opens up a new realm to his already pinpoint striking. Still, Franklin needs to push the fight. Silva arrived in the United States from Brazil later than he expected due to visa issues—just three days before the fight. This may effect his cardio. Furthermore, it has been three years since Silva’s cardio was tested in the context of a fight. In front of his home crowd, Rich Franklin has a chance to redeem himself and simultaneously regain his gold. Family and friends in attendance will cheer the hometown hero, but like Franklin, they should be fully aware Anderson Silva plans on building a legacy with his strikes and submissions.Franklin’s workman ethic is the only way he can neutralize Silva’s array of technical abilities. Unfortunately for Franklin, working is so much harder when tangled in a web.The Buckeye crowd will also be treated to a heavyweight clash with major title implications as former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia looks to once again defy doubters by besting the undefeated Brandon Vera.Sylvia was last seen in the Octagon in March, losing his coveted title to resident super hero Randy Couture. Losing to a forty-three-year-old man fueled paradoxical speculation Sylvia is a bottom-rung heavyweight despite fighting at the championship level. The loss stemmed from a spectacular performance by Couture, but also Sylvia’s injured back, which required surgery post-fight.“The Maine-iac” is now one hundred percent healed. He even expects to be 250lbs come fight time—a departure from his usual cutting weight down to the 265lbs, the division’s limit—to match Vera’s speed. An MFS Elite fighter, Sylvia was once known for knockout power and vows to return to his conscious stealing ways. This is not the first time the Sylvia has met Vera in the Octagon; this is, however, the first time they will fight. Vera’s win over Frank Mir found him challenging then-champion Sylvia in the Octagon before contract disputes sidelined the San Diegan for eleven months. Both fighters enter the bout shaking off ring rust. Sylvia comes in at a bigger disadvantage as he hopes to overcome the most high-profile loss of his career and an injury. Vera has less to worry about. The long lay off may be an issue, but he has never known defeat and is healthy—two issues weighing on his opponent’s mind. This may neutralize Sylvia’s immense experience advantage.Sylvia’s main asset—as always—is his size. In addition, Vera is an undersized heavyweight. However, that may be an advantage in this fight. The former City Boxing fighter is light on his feet. If he can remain evasive and damage Sylvia with leg kicks, his road to victory is a clear one against the flat-footed striker. While Vera does have a Greco-Roman wrestling background and a Lloyd Irvin ground game, taking the fight to the ground would expend a lot of energy against the much larger Sylvia and could prove detrimental. Both expect a standup bout and both should stay the course. Sylvia can test Vera’s chin and Vera can say he knocked out or outlasted a former champion known for his striking.Training with UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson and trainer Juanito Ibarra, Vera’s change of pace in the gym should lead to an impressive performance. But with Sylvia’s hard hitting, as Vera said himself: “Don’t believe the hype, just believe what you see.”In under card action, fellow Cincinnati resident and Rich Franklin’s coach Jorge Gurgel will step into the Octagon against Alvin Robinson at 155-pounds. Robinson is a strong wrestler, but Gurgel is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu expert who likes to punish opponents standing. He is also incredibly tough, having fought injured most of his career, including suffering a broken jaw in the second round of his three round slugfest in his last outing. Octagon experience and home field advantage will see Gurgel finish his first fight in the UFC.Eric Schafer takes on The Ultimate Fighter veteran Stephan Bonnar in light heavyweight action. The fighters and former training partners are evenly matched except in the experience department, where Bonnar separates himself. “Ravishing Red” has the advantage of having Muay Thai coach Duke Rufus (Bonnar’s former coach) in his corner, but does not have the luxury of training for mixed martial arts under one roof. That is a plus “The American Psycho” recently picked up, moving to Las Vegas under the Xtreme Couture banner. Coming off a first round submission victory against Mike Nickels adds to his positive streak, which Schafer does not have since he lost his last fight in the Octagon. Add in the need for spotlights and Bonnar’s determination should pose too many problems for the ground fighter.Middleweights Alan Belcher and Kalib Starnes hope to up their stock in a contender-thin division. Both are 1-1 in their last two UFC appearances, winning their last bouts. Starnes’ recent move to American Top Team has added a strong mental element to his various physical talents, which the overactive Mississippian will challenge. If the fight stays standing, Belcher should get the better of the exchanges, while opposite is true in a ground fight. Wherever the fight goes, both fighters can survive. This makes the deciding factor heart, tilting the scales slightly for Belcher.Jason McDonald and Yushin Okami are no strangers to Rich Franklin, whom they both lost to, stopping their title search short. The Canadian plans to test the Japanese fighter’s cardio, but McDonald is walking into a trap. Okami is a large, strong, and evasive fighter. McDonald will tire himself out. That is, of course, unless Okami realizes the mistake he made against Franklin and corrects it by coming forward. Either way, he will score a technical knockout by avoiding submissions long enough to pound out his opponent and step back into title contention. As each under card fighter wants to position themselves for gold, Rich Franklin and Anderson Silva are already there. UFC 77 may breathe life into a hometown hero or Cincinnati may suffer another spider bite. A win for Franklin continues the story, a win for Silva concludes the story.

Team Germany Is The 2007 Women's Soccer World Cup Champion! Convincing win against Brazil 2-0
    2007-10-14 07:07:07
The German Women's Soccer Team proved that they are still the force to be reckoned with in the world of women's soccer! Goals from Birgit Prinz and and Simone Laudehr dealt the Brazilian the heart breaking loss as they seemed invincible in the run-up matches to this 2007 Women's Soccer World Cup finals. In fact, the Brazilian women had somewhat the upper hand on this match against Germany as they had longer possessions than their opponents and also had more free kicks. Goals however were the things that counted the most as Brazil failed to scored in their lengthy possessions while the German women were precise in their tactics. This competition is a 2008 Beijing Olympics Qualifier tournament.Player of the match Nadine Angerer took the limelight as she saved a penalty kick by Marta. Marta and the rest of Team Brazil were frustrated the whole match.Great Soccer Gear find it below:adidas Men's +F30.7 TRX Firm Ground Soccer Shoeadidas Men's Copa Mundial Soccer Shoeadidas Glider Soccer Ball White/RedManchester United (mens)adidas Predator Beckham ShinguardsClick here for the complete story on Germany's win in this 2007 World Cup! Tilly And The Wall + The Teenagers + Lightspeed Champion + Slow Club @ Electric Ballroom
    2007-09-17 10:24:00
With no new releases planned for the near future, it seemed an odd time to tour the UK for Omaha lovelies Tilly And The Wall, but with their contagiously fun live shows and a gaggle of great support acts, i really couldn't miss this show.Slow Club were the first on the famous Electric Ballroom stage. Already adored by funfunfun, who was down the front singing and dancing along, Rebecca and Charles must have won over the small but intrigued crowd that had arrived early. For all those who made a fashionable late entry, it shouldn't be fashionable to miss these guys. They have such a way with a tune and their songs contain enough hooks, that one of them could bag more fish than those blokes on The Deadliest Catch...with a lot less death-defying and a lot more tea drinking. With their usual set up of guitar and random percussion, including spoons, glass bottles and a wooden chair, their minimalist style lends itself to the strip down indie folk racket they play and future single Me And You is a perfect example of this. All heavily strummed chords, beaten chairs and crazy lyrics, its a riot. Perfect start to the evening.Lightspeed Champion seemed to have followed me from gig to gig this Summer, having supported Final Fantasy back in July and then played with The Mules in August, now here he was again. This time round he was back by a full band but disappointingly Dev had no female backing to support his sometimes grating vocals and it was pretty obvious. Songs like Galaxy Of The Lost and Mr Fisk sounded thinner without the feminine support of Flo or Emmy and the loss was detrimental to the performance. Dev and his violinist covered Eugene McGuiness' Girl Who My Eyes Shine For, which was surprisingly solid and the epic closer, and next single, Midnight Surprise with its driving violin finale part - although the drummer seemed to want to overshadow everyone on that particular song - were highlights, the set was disappointing. For a band that i was quite excited about at

The Mules + Lightspeed Champion + Noah & The Whale @ The Big Chill House
    2007-08-15 07:26:00
Still on-going, the Mules' free weekly residency at The Big Chill House has boasted some impressive line ups over the past few weeks, Napolean IIIrd, Johnny Flynn, Emmy The Great, Eugene McGuiness but the one i choose to go to a few weeks ago (sorry for the lateness of this review) had the best line up of them all.Opening were Noah & The Whale, who when i saw them last November, were a two piece comprising of a drummer and frontman and guitarist Charlie. The band now consists of 5 members and the extra waves of sound from the violin and keyboard filled out the already excellent tunes, making them rounded and smoother. Also that night, additional vocals by the amazingly cute and very talented Laura Marling added a femininity to the music that softened its edges - even though i just said the music was round. They played a few tunes that have been on consistent rotation on my playlist, like Rocks & Daggers with its subdued start and raucous fiddle-driven ending and 5 Years Time, their fo

Final Fantasy + Lightspeed Champion @ Manchester Academy 3
    2007-07-18 17:44:00
Part of Manchester's International festival, this gig was probably one of my most eager anticipated ever...which made it all the more infuriating that i only got to see 25 minutes of the Final Fantasy's set.But before that Lightspeed Champion calmed by annoyance with a jolly and lively performance. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect and whether i was going to like LSC before the gig, as i was never a big fan of Dev's previous outfit, Test Icicles, but was immediately won over by the first line of the first song, which was an Incredible Hulk reference, and then wholeheartedly enjoy the rest of their folksy riot of a set. Dev turned out to extremely entertaining and a great frontman, never faltering even when his keyboard fucked up and no one, not even the band, could hear the twinkling on the ivories. The finale was an epic 8 minute marathon of a tune called Midnight Surprise and ended on with an awesome fiddle lead rock out, which the all red instruments being played to an inch of breaking. Then the moment i'd been waiting for for months, as Owen Pallett walked on stage and started tuning up his violin. Being the first night of his mini tour, he seemed a little nervous - or maybe thats just how he always is - but as soon as he started layering those violin parts all his shyness fell away and a guy with alot of musical talent and some great tunes. It was a shame that the venue didn't suit his sound too well, leaving the mix to heavy on the violin so that Owen's vocals - which aren't amazingly strong anyway - were a little lost. It also didn't help that a few annoying people wouldn't shut up so songs like What Do You Think Will Happen Next? which should be utterly compelling ended up losing their edge. Fifteen minutes into the set, Owen invited Stephanie to accompany on stage. Stephanie produced "movies" using pieces of OHT, which she moved, while Owen produced the soundtrack. There were pianos being played, letters being written and crowns sparkling and it all helped to exaggerate the melancholic and fantastical effect that FF's music already possesses. It was at this point that i had to grudgingly depart to catch the last train home, on which i had to contemplate missing Many Lives 49 MP, This Is A Dream Of Win And Regime, some amazing covers (apparently James' Hymn From A Village) and from what i heard later 3 encores. It was not a happy journey home.Lightspeed Champion - Mr FiskLightspeed Champion - Snow MountainsFinal Fantasy - What Do You Think Will Happen Next? Newly-crowned Filipino IBF Minimumweight Champion Agrees to Rematch
    2007-07-10 18:44:00
Florante Condes, the newly-crowned IBF minimumweight champion has declared that he will agree to a rematch with former champion, Indonesian Muhammad Rachman, regardless of where the fight is held. Of course, the price has to be right, which is fair since he is now the champion. The champion’s manager Aljoe Jaro, explained that, “There was no option clause in our contract because Condes was the mandatory challenger but we’ll do a rematch depending on the offer.” He added that, “We don’t care if we fight in Jakarta or anywhere else. Condes will beat Rachman again and again.”Meanwhile, the champion is now preparing himself for his new found fame. He realizes that he needs preparation to face the media and numerous interviews after he steps out of a Philippine Airlines flight. He also know that this is a good time for him to improve his English speaking skills because he knows would be very useful especially when he meets the international press.

    Giuliani The Firearm Champion!?
    2007-07-07 15:57:00
It seems the former Mayor of New York is now doing a bit of flip flopping of his own. When asked at a recent appearance about his record on firearms, he emphatically declared we have the right to bear arms. Now hang on a second...this is the same Rudy Giuliani right? The same guy who lobbied for and instituted strict gun control laws in New York? Now, he did specifically say it didn't matter if he believed in it or not, and that he was a Constitutionalist. Does this sound like someone who is trying to have it both ways? As we have seen time and time again in this Presidential race, this kind of behavior simply alienates people. Any firearm enthusiast already knows the politics here, believe me. I have much more respect for people who will stand by thier personal beliefs and allow me to decide if I support it rather than trying to be both teams at once.Mr. Giuliani will serve as an honorary race offical for tonight's Pepsi 400, obviously attempting to secure the southern NASCAR

    The First Pinoy World Champion
    2007-07-04 22:15:00
For today's post, I decided to feature the first Filipino World Champion. Francisco Guilledo was best known as Pancho Villa, the legendary World flyweight champion. He stood only five feet tall and never weighed more than 114 pounds but he is now considered as one of the best boxers to ever coma out of Asia. However, he is also remembered for the strange circumstances that surrounded his death when he was at his prime at the young age of twenty three. Francisco was was born in Negros Occidental, in a little town called Ilog. He sailed to Iloilo City to work as a bootblack, to support his family after his father abandoned them. He befriended a local boxer while he was working in Iloilo,, and together they migrated to Manila, settling in Tondo. He soon attracted the attention of local boxing promoters after he was seen occasionally sparring with friends. He fought his first professional fight in 1919 and became the Philippine flyweight champion within two years. Pancho Villa received a

    Champion Colts Get Their Rings

The Lombardi Trophy in the middle of the Colts’ logo.  Even a red ruby to represent the figurative blood shed by the Colts over the course of the season.  And, of course, the Super Bowl rings were all handed out Wednesday night on — what else? — a silver platter.  The response to the shiny, new, $5,000 rings was unanimously exuberant. “I know they normally say that diamonds are a woman’s best friend, but tonight, they’re a man’s best friend, too,” Pro Bowl receiver Reggie Wayne said.  Three-time Pro Bowl defensive end Dwight Freeney said the design, courtesy of team owner Jim Irsay and his wife, was precisely what he envisioned.  But it was the private ceremony that really brought out emotions.  All the Colts players and coaches from the Super Bowl team attended the ceremony but defensive tackle Montae Reagor, who is expected to practice with Philadelphia tomorrow. . Syukurlah skor masih 0 - 0, sampai tulisan ini ku ketik….
