We talked yesterday about some of the important things to look for tonight. Nothing left to do now but strap it on and hit somebody.

| | 5 Good Questions: Chiefs Edition | | 2008-08-23 01:44:05 | | I recently had the chance to exchange 5 questions with the good people of Arrowhead Pride, SBN's Kansas City Chiefs blog. You can head over to their site to see my responses to their Dolphins-related questions. DJ from Arrowhead Pride was nice enough to answer my questions, which you can read below:
Matty I: I've read a little bit about how the offense being run in now in Kansas City is very different than the one ran last season. What are these differences and do you think they will help generate more offense?
DJ: A reporter recently asked Brody Croyle that exact question at a recent press conference. This is how he replied: 'Nothing we did last year we do this year. We have the checks now and we just kind of line up and go. It's not about trying to trick people with motions; it's about getting in better plays. It's really no comparison.' | | Dolphins vs Chiefs: What to Watch For | | 2008-08-21 23:15:07 | | Well we are now getting very close to the start of the regular season. And on Saturday, the Dolphins will really play in a game that's as close to a regular season game as you can get in the preseason. The 3rd preseason game is when the "core players" - as Tony Sparano likes to say - will get the most work in preparation for the regular season. And while the team only game-planned for Kansas City for 2 days, it's still likely the most game-planning this team and this staff has done all preseason.
On Thursday, Tony Sparano did say that the "core players" will likely play into the 3rd quarter - and possibly all of the 3rd quarter. So we are going to really get a chance to see what we might expect once the regular season opens up. So let's talk a little about what we should be looking for on Saturday night:

| | G-7 Preview: Finance Chiefs To Address Global Financial Turmoil | | 2008-04-11 05:55:07 | | Group of Seven financial chiefs gather in Washington on Friday in a bid to stave off what the International Monetary Fund-IMF warned earlier this week was the worst financial crisis since the 1930s Great Depression.During their meeting, finance ministers and central bank governors from the richest nations will seek to firm up proposals for tightening scrutiny of global banking practices and to press the private sector to step up its efforts to settle financial markets. The meeting comes in the backdrop of an increasingly grim international economic outlook. Worries about a global slowdown as the U.S. subprime crisis continues to batter the world's biggest economy and send global financial markets into a tailspin.Global expansion is set to slow to 3.7 percent in 2008, half a point lower than the IMF's January estimate, and the U.S. economy is likely to be in a "mild recession" and will stagnate through much of 2009, the IMF said Wednesday in its semiannual World Economic Outlook report.T | | By: All About Investiment | | |

| | 'This One's For John' -- A Title Remembered 10-Years Later -- Week 1 -- Kansas City Chiefs | | 2007-09-21 19:56:18 | | It's been 10 years since John Elway and the 1997 Denver Broncos won that elusive Super Bowl Title. In celebration of that achievement, we'll go week by week through the 1997 season and remember the wins and losses, the highs and lows, the good and the bad of a Super Bowl Championship season. First, we look back to 8/31/97, Week 1 of the 1997 season when the Kansas City Chiefs travelled to Mile High Stadium to face the Broncos. Much like the hometeam, the Chiefs had huge expectations of ending a multiple-decade Super Bowl drought, and tensions were high heading into Week 1. Below is the story of the game, a convincing 19-3 Bronco win, which saw the return of John Elway after he had missed most of the pre-season with an arm injury. It was the beginning of an unforgettable season, for Elway, the Broncos, and Broncos fans everywhere! It didn't take long for the Denver Broncos to claim first place in the AFC West. Oh it is and that means we are just a few weeks away from the games that actually mean something. So what will I be watching for tonight? Two main things jump out at me. First, I want to see some progress made by the first team offense. This means I'd like to see Ronnie actually have some holes to run through and I want to see Trent actually make some good, strong, accurate throws. On the defensive side of the ball, I'll be closely watching the secondary. Yet again, the fromt 7 is a shell of its self with Zach Thomas, Jason Taylor, and Keith Traylor all sitting out and with Joey Porter recovering from surgery. That means that for the second straight week, only 3 starters from the front 7 will be playing. So what I'll be watching | | By: The Phinsider | | |
| | Chiefs Allen Suspension Reduced From Four to Two Games | | 2007-07-16 12:44:43 | | Chiefs defensive end Jared Allen was set to miss the first four games of the 2007 season after being suspended by the league, but now that suspension has been dropped to just two games. The move means that the starter will be back on the field for the teams home opener on September 23rd vs the Vikings, and the bigger game the next week at home vs the rival Chargers. Allen was suspended for violation of the league’s substance abuse policy. Allen earned two DUI charges, which lead the league to hand down the punishment.
“My whole approach has changed now,” Allen said in the Kansas City Star Sunday. “With the whole four weeks, I was going to head back to Arizona and train as if I was in the offseason. Four weeks is quite a long time. Two weeks is a totally different game. Most likely I’ll just stay in Kansas City and stay ready to play. “I’m excited about this. It changes training camp for me. | | What’s the Latest With The Chiefs and Larry Johnson? | | 2007-07-11 03:15:09 | |
As training camp approaches for the entire league, one of the bigger questions out there is what is going through the mind of Chiefs running back Larry Johnson. There’s been so much talk about Johnson holding out once the Chiefs start camp, and now a few of the experts from the league is giving their points of what will happen with Johnson once the Chiefs report.
One expert is NFL Network talker Adam Schefter, who recently stated the following about Johnson and his contract status: “I believe that we will not see Larry Johnson in KC until he has a new contract. He will not be there under the existing terms of the contract. He’s made too much noise, it’s too important to him, there is too much money going around at that position.” Would they trade Johnson? “No matter what they said, they were floating his name around the league. If they could have gotten a one, two, and a three, they would have dealt him.”

| | US Chiefs: Iraq Not Ready to Hold Ground | | 2007-06-27 01:47:15 | |
BAGHDAD (AP) - American military commanders now seriously doubt that Iraqi security forces will be able to hold the ground that U.S. troops are fighting to clear - gloomy predictions that strike at the heart of Washington’s key strategy to turn the tide in Iraq.
Several senior American officers have warned in recent days that Iraqi soldiers and police are still incapable of maintaining security on their own in the most crucial areas, including Baghdad and the recently reclaimed districts around Baqouba to the north.
And if I am not mistaken, this is exactly what I and many other reasonably well informed writers have been saying for quite some time, but we have been blasted for presenting that evaluation, because as truthful as it was, some people don’t want to hear the truth, and a lot of those people are hard core Bush Bot Republican Bloggers…

In fact, the Kansas City Star goes so far as to say the two teams have agreed to the compensation, with the Chiefs holding off final approval of the deal becuase, well, after all, the Broncos are a divisional rival and Wesley is a pretty decent safety. WASHINGTON — Marine Gen. Peter Pace will retire as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Defense Secretary Robert Gates announced on Friday.
Gates said while he intended to renominate Pace for another two-year term as chairman, after consulting with congressional leaders, the confirmation hearing was likely to be “a backward-looking and very contentious process.”
“The focus of his confirmation process would have been on the past, rather than the future,” Gates said at a press conference at the Pentagon.
Gates said he will recommend to President Bush Adm. Michael G. Mullen, chief of naval operations, as the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
“I think Admiral Mullen will bring a tremendous perspective,” Gates said.

| | Chiefs Concerned About QB Prospects | | 2007-06-05 18:26:34 | | Ran into an interesting article this morning over at KC Chiefs.com regarding to pending quarterback battle in Kansas City. Trent Green, Damon Huard and Brodie Croyle are all on the current roster, and while no one really thinks Green will be there come late July there still figures to be a battle between Croyle and Huard. What does this have to do with the Broncos? Well, it is a division rival so there is some direct correlation. Who the Chiefs decide to put under center has a direct effect on the Broncos and us fans. But it was more than just the KC quarterback controversy that sparked my interest. Herm Edwards has yet to name his starter. To Jonathon Rand, who wrote the article, this doesn't seem to be that big of a deal -- There have, in fact, been NFL quarterbacks who've been so mishandled, booed or criticized that they've needed their confidence rebuilt with an early assurance that the starting jobs was theirs. That's not necessary with the C | | By: Mile High Report | | |
| | Longing for Green - Miami Tweaks Deal for Chiefs QB | | 2007-06-01 13:59:50 | | Could the most longest awaited move in NFL history finally be on the verge of getting done? Well, let’s put it this way - at least the Dolphins and Chiefs are at least talking about the move to finally get quarterback Trent Green into a Fins uni and out of Big Red. The latest bit of talking between the two states that the Dolphins have modified their trade offer for Green. The Miami Herald reports Friday that the Dolphins are now willing to offer a conditional sixth-round pick that would become a fifth if Green meets certain conditions.
The deal over the past few months was that Miami was only going to give up a 6th rounder for Green, a QB who they already have a new contract in place with and ready to go once the deal gets done. KC all along has wanted at least a fourth-round pick for their former starter under center. Jim Steiner, Green’s agent, was quoted in the Herald as stating “I think we will get a deal done, there have been a lot of conversations.”
