I bought two of these for my twin daughters. They are proud and wear these regularly. One asked me when she should get the battery replaced. | | Getting a Swiss Visa as Filipino Citizen | | 2008-06-12 08:38:00 | | Getting a Swiss visa as Filipino citizen is much easier as my brother and I got our visa in just about a month and the interviewer did not give us a hard time since we got all the requirements needed. My brother chatted with me online yesterday and asked me what we did before getting a Swiss visa and I replied I forgot as it about 3years and half. The reason why he asked about how we get the scheduled of appointment, because my mom will be going to get a tourist Swiss visa. I am happy for my mom as she will be going to be in Switzerland for 3 mos. visiting my sister, my bro in law and my nephew as her 1st grandchild and besides my mom will see the beauty of Switzerland. I hope she will pass the interview and will issue a Swiss visa. I guess my mom is ready to go there in Switzerland soon. | | By: My Trails In Life

| Investing for Senior Citizen Retirement | | 2008-06-06 11:20:00 | | John Stratos
Senior citizen retirement could be an extended way off for you or it may
represent something in the near future. Regardless of that amount of time, you
without a doubt, need to begin saving up for it at once. Even so, preserving
cash for senior citizen retirement Is not what it used to be with the cost of
living and the un-stableness of government social security.

| | More on a Long Island "Citizen Media" | | 2008-04-23 09:35:00 | | News of the sale of Newsday has prompted many to worry about the potential lack of diversity in media coverage on Long Island. This clearly is a valid concern.I think however, it misses the enormity and broad scope of the information and media changes that are upon us.Some theorize that we have become too dependent on traditional sources of media, not only to inform us, but to think for us as well. The explosion of blogging and other Web 2.0 technologies has given a voice to many who were previously shut out of the public policy arena, but it has also too widely dispersed and in some ways confused the general public even more. Additionally most blogging is "opinion based" and not subject to rigorous scrutiny, but so then is much of the "traditional" news we receive today. Some have made good attempts to create like minded "blogospheres" and multimedia forums using Web 2.0. But often these "universes" are revolving around different centers and do not interact with one another.Wouldn't it | | By: Long Island Idea Factory | | |

| | Who the hell is this pissed off citizen?! | | 2008-04-18 03:15:00 | | I figured, to get this blog started I should probably kick it off with somewhat of an introduction. I’ve never been into blogs, thought at first they were kind of stupid. I looked at them basically as an online diary being viewed by the whole world. To me at least, that is how they seemed to start. I never saw it going to the levels it has today where, with everyday, they’re more and more becoming responsible for the publics discourse. I’m not going to ramble on about blogs ( or blogging ) but I’ll try to sum it up in a nutshell where I’m coming from with my views and comments on things. Born and raised in the Bronx, I come from a family of political figures, activists, war heroes & persecuted individuals. I can’t go into too much detail other than I always hated politics and never understood the anger between people because of the topics, until now. The older I got, the more I began to get into studying and reading historical/political books. Everything from ( do | | By: The Pissed Off Citizen | | |

| | By: Conversaciones de Café | | |

In fact, I'd say the only person not happy about Charlie Merrill's gun ownership (besides the gun-banners) is 19-year-old Dwain Smith, the man police say tried to rob the IGA grocery store where Charlie Merrill was shopping. | | on being a concerned citizen | | 2007-12-21 13:40:00 | | so what it means to be a concerned citizen and what are the implications that comes with playing an active part (or trying to play for that matter) in public life, let it be participating in events and gatherings to raise awareness of important issues or spearheading and leading a process that will lead eventually to change or trying to bridge a gap that you perceive is existent ,organizing fund raising events or campaigns for the good of societyboycotting a product or an organization because you think it it is working in the wrong direction or working for the wrong reasons, or simply thanking a cop for doing his duty well,I won't say that I have much experience in all the aforementioned deeds ,however from my little and humble experience and what I gleaned from the experiences of other people I'd say that it is not easy to stand up for what you believe and to neglect all the codes that the society imposes regarding how one "should" conduct himself/herself .the concept of individualism and one's freedom to have and advocate his believes and values is overlooked, the ability to hold "unpopular " believes is even more tough, however we need this kind of people who break free from the masses and lead them to a different place ,as it is those same people that will become heroes of the future. It is a tough thing and I believe that the value of it stems from that very fact . | | By: roneceve

| | Possible model for One Long Island's "Citizen Media Network" | | 2007-10-10 15:20:00 | | "CITIZEN MEDIA is a collaborative research project which unites leading creative and technology experts from across Europe on research, development and validation of A/V systems to enable multiple non-professional users to co-create networked applications and experiences based on their own user-generated content. In this project new ways are investigated on how to exploit the huge amount of user-generated content in innovative ways to support people in their daily lives and how technology will enable social change to strongly involve users for co-creating networked applications. This work will introduce new concepts that may modify the role of stakeholders in the classical value chain for content delivery. To this end, applications, services, systems, infrastructure, technology and architectures are developed based on a user-centric approach. The goal is to enable any user at any location with any device to consume, author and publish his own content towards a networked A/V system.Based on user-generated media recorded by different users at different times, an open and flexible architecture will be proposed that creates a novel networked application or experience each time a user uploads new content. The underlying infrastructure hides the complexity of content handling for the end user by supporting trans-coding of formats, customization and mixing of personal and private content. To facilitate co-creation by multiple non-professional users based on their own user-generated content, the A/V system has to be able to handle a massive amount of user-generated content in different formats in real time, annotate and store this content in huge databases, search, retrieve, process and render all these pieces of user-generated content to create a new experience. Combined with new technology for collaborative communication and easy and multimodal user interfaces, this will lead to appealing new applications. To build successful applications that assure strong user involvement to co-create the application by uploading their user-generated content, user-centric design methods are used. End-to-end service delivery, network and operational scalability are considered over converged broadcast and IP communication networks, over mobile and fixed access networks to heterogeneous terminals in and outside the home." | | By: Long Island Idea Factory | | |

It features a delightfully illustrated lunar phase indicator that will keeps track of the moon as it waxes and wanes through its 29-1/2 day cycle around the earth. It's completed by a silver stainless steel bracelet band composed of small, square links that's joined by a foldover clasp with a hidden double push-button.It has a round, silver stainless steel case and bezel that frames a white dial background. The dial face also offers two subdials (for day of the week and month), Roman numeral markers, and Dauphine luminous hands (with seconds hand) featuring a blue outline. It also has a special month indicator hand that points to a gray exterior dial with monthly 31-day notation. Other features include a screw-back case, screw-down crown, scratch resistant mineral crystal with anti-reflective coating, and water resistance to 100 meters (330 feet). This watch is powered by Citizen's unique Eco-Drive, which absorbs sunlight and any artificial light through the crystal and dial to recharge the watch continuously. With regular exposure to light, the Eco-Drive continuously recharges itself for a lifetime of use. This watch's Eco-Drive provides a 180-day power reserve, and it can be recharged with just 4 hours of exposure to light.Eco-Drive Frequently Asked QuestionsHow can you tell if the Eco-Drive watch is getting enough light? In normal use, the watch displays the time and the sweep-second hand moves in one second intervals. A very important feature of Eco-Drive is the Low Charge Warning Mode which as a result of low battery voltage, causes the second hand to jump two seconds at a time (while still keeping correct time). How long will an Eco-Drive watch run after it is fully charged? If your watch is put away where no light is available to it while in a fully charged state, depending on the model, it will run for from 45 days to 5 years. How can the Eco-Drive watch be recharged?Besides sunlight, it can be safely charged by exposing it to a fluorescent desk lamp, with the dial (face) up and within about 8 inches or an incandescent lamp (regular light bulb) no closer than 20 inches. Never use a halogen lamp since the heat generated by it can cause damage to your watch. The most efficient and the quickest is in direct bright sunlight (not windowsill) and never on the dashboard of a car.Customer ReviewsNew Citizen Calibre 8651 ClassicBy Tim "WatchMan" (Scottsdale, AZ USA)This new calibre from Citizen is available in at least six variations, "Classic" case (straight lugs) or "Contemporary" case (curved lugs) in stainless, two-tone, or goldtone. This review applies to the "Classic" two-tone. For a production watch fit and finish are excellent. The bracelet has seven cross links with solid end links providing a comfortable tracking of your wrist shape. The clasp is single deployment fold-over with a dual button release. The bracelet is secured to the case with conventional spring pins but there are ornamental buttons at the lug ends (gold in the two-tone). The case is of classic straight lug shape with a two step bezel. The base is brush finish while the bezels are high polish. The thinner of the two bezels is gold in the two-tone. The mineral crystal is slightly convex providing a small amount of magnification and merges cleanly with the main bezel. The two crowns are slightly recessed and "small" in size. Both crowns are gold in the two-tone.The three o'clock crown is not functional. It acts as a static sleeve for the recessed month adjustment pusher. The four o'clock crown pulls out in the conventional manner. In position one, the moon phase is set via clockwise rotation and the day-of-month is set via counter-clockwise rotation. In the second position the time of day and day of week are simultaneously set by clockwise rotation. See instruction manual for correct sync of day, date, and time functions. The dial is a nice "ivory" tone to my eye. The outer chapter ring has bold black stick markers at the hour positions, normal stick markers at the minute positions, and micro-markers at the quarter minute positions. The next innermost chapter ring has the day of month register (1 to 31) rendered in a very small font on a "gray" background. This proves to be hard to read at a glance. The dial is recessed to accomodate the multiple indicator hands. This can result in a shadowing of the outer chapter rings rendering portions unreadable depending on lighting conditions. Both of these registers would benefit from a re-design to provide better readability. The hour markers are roman numerals, easily read, and appear to be hand applied (gold in the two-tone). The day of week and month registers have nicely shaped black hands which are also easily read. The moon-phase register has a dark blue static area with hand applied gold stars (a very nice touch). The moon phase indicator is the conventional dark-blue sky background with a dark "pumpkin" colored moon. The moon phase indicator is inverted, that is the static sky is at the top and the phase indicator is at the bottom. From an aesthetic and practical point of view this is undesirable and would benefit from a re-design on the next rev of this movement (put phase indicator on top and static sky on bottom just like God intended). The hour and minute hand are nicely shaped gold outline with luminova (or equivalent) in the broad portion of each hand. The second hand is all gold ending in a ball on the short end. The day of month hand is gold with a blue "starburst" pointer (another nice touch). The designers chose to put a small "squiggle"(bend) in the day of month hand, a styleistic touch that escapes me.The movement is the tried and true "Eco-drive" (solar powered) that Citizen introduced many years ago. When you receive the watch it will not be running due to lack of light source in storage and shipping. An initial "charge" of direct light for 4 to 8 hours will get you going. Subsequently 4 or more hours of artificial light or low sun-light per day will sustain operation. Prolonged exposure to light over a period of days results in a "full charge" which will sustain operation for up to six months without further exposure to light. Thus you can store the watch during periods of inactivity without need for a re-charge and reset of time/day/date/moon-phase.This watch is available at very attractive street prices that make it a super value with the fit, finish, and complications that it offers. It is a solid "4 Star" performer. If the chapter ring shadowing and inverted moon phase register are corrected in the next rev, it will be a "5 Star".Men's citizen watch Took a few minutes to go through the instructions as to doing the various settings, but otherwise this watch fulfills everything I wanted it to do completely!Very good Is a very nice watch the only problem is to set the time days and moon position you will have to see the intruction but when you set everything is no problem is not loosen time is very sharp was my first and I thing I did good I been using automatic and this is like but the charge is a bit longer plus you do not need to move it just a little bit of light and that's itAbsolutely beautiful... I have always loved complication timepieces and this one is the best I've owned. I have another Citizen (dive watch with depth indicator)and it's been very accurate over the 10 years I've owned it. I wanted a new watch and 2 things were important; moon phase and no battery replacement. I researched both automatic and electro-mechanical movements and found that in a complication watch electro-mechanical was much less expensive. Naturally, I looked at Citizen and was thrilled to find this watch (unfortunately it's no longer manufactured so hurry if you want one). When it arrived it's look was much more than the picture provided. The low charge indicator told me I needed to charge so I placed it under a light. Upon reading the manual I found that bright sunlight would give it a day's charge in 16 minutes so outside I went. The low charge indicator went to a charged state in 10 seconds and it charged quickly. As with other reviews I must admit that setting the watch is a chore. Some functions set on their own without effecting the others, but most effect other dials so, for instance, if you set the day and then the time set passes midnight you're off a day again and have to start over. Also, I found that the push pin for the month is locked out during certain hours of the day and it can appear as if the watch is broken as the month won't change. If this happens to you just wait till the next day and it will set. Once you've got it set the adjustments for 30 day months and February will be easy.Despite the setting difficulty (which must be expected in a complication watch)it's a magnificent watch which looks beautiful on the wrist and keeps accurate time. When I took it to a watch maker to have the band adjusted his first comment was, "That's a very nice piece." I think that's a great indicator of the quality of this watch.Tags: Citizen Men Calibre Watch, Metal Banded Watch, Mens Watch Review. | | By: Men's Watches Reviews
