| coin collecting | | 2008-03-30 11:39:45 | | Like stamps collecting, currency and coins collecting from different countries was one of my favourite hobby, when I was teenage. At that time, penfriendship or penpal was the only source to collect the stamps or currency of many countries. I had many friends worldwide and trading with them could help me in collecting stamps, coins, currency notes, view cards and etc. I enjoyed these collecting hobbies and still enjoy watching my old collection boxes filled with stamps, coins, currency notes and old viewcards.Definition of coin collecting as a hobby:According to Wikipedia:"Coin collecting is the collecting or trading of coins or other forms of legally minted currency. Frequently collected coins include those that were in circulation for only a brief time, coins minted with errors, or especially beautiful or historically interesting pieces. Coin collecting can be differentiated from numismatics in that the latter is the study of currency, though both are obviously closely related."Let's... | | By: Hobbies and hobbies | | |

| THE FLIP OF A COIN | | 2008-03-02 01:31:00 | | (Click to enlarge)No Country for Old Men revisits themes Ethan and Joel Coen have used in Blood Simple and Fargo. The novel's motifs of chance, free-will, and predestination are familiar territory for the Coens, who presented similar threads and tapestries of "fate [and] circumstance" in those earlier works. Numerous critics cited the importance of chance to both the novel and the film, focusing on Chigurh's fate-deciding coin flipping, but noted that the nature of the film medium made it difficult to include the "self-reflective qualities of McCarthy’s novel."In The Village Voice, Scott Foundas writes that "Like McCarthy, the Coens are markedly less interested in who (if anyone) gets away with the loot than in the primal forces that urge the characters forward... In the end, everyone in No Country for Old Men is both hunter and hunted, members of some endangered species trying to forestall their extinction."New York Times critic A.O. | Really funny jokes-Swallowing the coin | | 2008-02-19 22:18:12 | | A dad walks into a market with his young son. The kid is holding a coin.Suddenly, the boy starts choking and gasping for breath. The dad realizes the boy has swallowed the coin and starts panicking, shouting for help.A well dressed, attractive, but serious looking woman in a blue business suit is sitting at a Tea stall in the market reading her newspaper and sipping a cup of Tea.At the sound of the commotion, she looks up, puts her Tea cup down on the saucer, neatly folds the newspaper, places it on the counter, gets up from her seat and makes her way, unhurried, across the market.Reaching the boy, the woman carefully takes hold of the boy's testicles and starts to squeeze, gently at first and then ever more firmly. After a few seconds the boy convulses violently and coughs up the coin, which the woman deftly catches in her free hand. Releasing the boy, she hands the coin to the father and walks back to her seat in the Tea stall without saying a word.As soon as he is sure that his ... | | By: Really funny jokes | | |

| The coin has dropped.. (Jeton dustu) | | 2007-09-25 06:44:00 | | ..this blog is about what interests ME! and lately there isn't much worth mentioning, in my mind. I could try to be psychic and predict what will interest all of YOU.. but that would be the equivalent of selling out, now wouldn't it? Which is worse? The selfish "it's all about me-me-me" approach, or the "I know what you like" sell-out approach? Neither sounds much better than the other. For my mental health, it's best when I use this place as a toxic waste dump for my brain, without regard to anything else. When I get in the mood to spotlight the blogs of others with one of my "Hitchhiker's Guides".. that is by far the most satisfying. What to do? Maybe I'll just start regurgitating some of my very early posts.. especially the ones with 50+ comments.. Whacking some of the older hornet's nests might be just the thing, for now.... | | By: Amerikan Turk | | |

| Bontoc, Mountain Province breaks election tie with coin toss! | | 2007-05-21 07:56:00 | | Two candidates vying for a seat on the council in Bontoc town, Mountain Province, broke a rare tie in the May 2007 elections by coin toss! Local elections officials discovered that Benjamin Ngeteg and Bryan Byrd Bellang had tied for the last of eight seats on the council. They were then asked by elections supervisor Mary Umaming if they wanted to break the tie by tossing a coin or drawing lots; apparently, such options are in the rules! And the two candidates agreed to flip a coin in the local town hall. Bellang, who chose heads, won the coin toss. The candidates then shook each other's hands, sealing the agreement, as the crowd erupted with a thunderous applause for their peaceful resolution of the tie.My hat's off to you, gentlemen. | Panic! Coin-op arcade style shooter | | 2006-09-30 11:57:00 | | Got yourself too lazy and need a game to waste your time? Panic is what you're looking for. With it's simple coin-op arcade style, it's a good way to have some fun. The game's idea is very close to Astro-Panic, a game released for Commodore 64 back in 1984.Your objective is to shoot down all the flying saucers in the screen before one of them hits your space ship. For every wave of saucers you clear, another saucer is added on the next level, faster and though harder to eliminate. The higher you hit a saucer and the faster it is, the more points you get. Panic features a highscore list also, a fact that could make you go for another game after you loose. The game's visuals are following the arcade theme, so everything you see is made of back, grey and white lines, spiced up with red coloured particle effects to animate the destruction of a saucer. Background music is in the same style and so are the sound effects. Plain sounds combined, bringing a good result in sum. An option to disable music could be useful though, in case the player is bored to hear the same track repeatedly. There's an option to disable sound completely, but this way you will not hear the sound effects.Panic has pretty easy gameplay and you'll get in the mood as soon as you start playing. To move around use your mouse. Click the left mouse button to shoot. And that's all.A good game coming from Coin-Op Interactive, created by Sander van der Vegte.Link: Panic!Historical information: Astro-Panic 1984 review page A and page B.

| Two Sides Of A Similar Coin | | 2006-01-05 21:35:00 | | If you turned on the news at any point today, you already know that former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has had a massive stroke. The reason I say "former" is because:1.) I'm being realistic (sadly),and 2.) Doctors have told reporters that Sharon is "unlikely to return" to his position. While the power struggle begins to quietly play out in Israel's government, certain forces have no intention of sending the would-be Middle Eastern peace architect any get-well cards. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who recently made headlines and irked 99 percent of the free world by claiming the Holocaust was a "myth," stated that he hoped Sharon died. Another typically heartless statement from a radical who seems to be begging for war with every country in the United Nations, right? Absolutely. But an equally heartless, and possibly even more tasteless, statement has emerged from the lips of none other than America's own Pat Robertson. The Christian broadcaster has stirred the pot in his own right by suggesting today that Sharon's stroke was a punishment from God for "dividing" Israel. Robertson is a favorite target of liberals (who hold him up as an example of the religious right) and of the press (who know his extreme remarks are newsworthy and can sell papers). But he often gets a free pass from conservatives. Some on the right really do agree with him, though I don't know any of them personally. Others tiptoe around him, as well as Jerry Falwell, because they would rather tolerate his views and stay allies with his sizeable base of supporters.I'm not one to tiptoe.I prefer to never, ever mix religious and political discussions unless I have to. So I'm not going to get into any differences in interpretation of the Bible or anything of the sort. But for anyone to imply that he has an absolute knowledge of God's current will - which Robertson did today and has done in the past - disgusts me and implies a form of elitism potentially more dangerous t... | | By: The Unknown Blogger | | |
