Land Rover's commitment to carbon offset!
    2008-08-28 21:36:35
Land Rover deserves tremendous credit for their commitment to carbon offset and future fuel saving innovations. They're really one of the few automobile companies that have jumped in with both feet. We wouldn't doubt that an all-electric plug-in LRX might also be available in the near future too. Below is an informative video about their commitment to carbon offset as well as other emission reduction solutions around the world. The video is about 6 minutes long. ...

Win Fights And Excel At Martial Arts...By Avoiding Commitment
    2008-08-17 03:00:00
Win Fights And Excel At Martial Arts...By Avoiding Commitment was written by Matt Numrich from jkdondvd.comAs a general rule of thumb, I'm very easy going on my students when they are learning street-fighting martial arts.I don't push them too far, too fast...and I don't put enormous amounts of pressure on them and try to make them "crack."However, one thing that really ticks me off...that I sometimes even raise my voice over...is when someone only practices and works on their favorite area of c...

Broncos Say Lack of Commitment Reason Behind Release of Henry
    2008-06-02 13:51:38
The Broncos today released running back Travis Henry, throwing out that they didn’t feel he was as committed to the team as he should have been.  “We did not feel his commitment to the Broncos was enough to warrant a spot on this football team,” coach Mike Shanahan said in a written statement. “Although Travis [...]...

    Noles Land 7th 2009 Commitment
    2008-04-11 17:26:00
Since February's post regarding the CJ Mizell commitment, the Seminoles have gotten verbal commitments from 3 more local recruits. Chris Thompson and Brandon Jenkins committed on consecutive days a little over a month ago and just this week FSU received a commitment from Georgia safety Gerald Demps. The former two are rated 4 stars each by Rivals, while Demps is unrated for the time being. I don't know much about them specifically, but that now makes 7 total commitments for the 2009 class, all of whom are highly regarded. What this means is that Randy Shannon and his staff have to increase their recruiting efforts to make sure there isn't a run of talent into FSU. It's extremely early to be panicking, especially considering Miami already has a great foundation set for their own 2009 class. However, kids like jumping on bandwagons and right now FSU's is looking really good.I don't know that we have any guys who are ready to commit to the Canes anytime soon. Other than TE Orson Charles and...

Brown was considering FSU, Miami and Arkansas.By the way, Oliver Vernon was rated 3 stars by Scout. The DE is Miami's most recent commitment....

Financial Commitment to Top Picks Handcuffs Teams
    2008-02-25 12:39:21
[editor's note, by Brian Galliford] MARVelous' latest diary takes a look at some comments made by Bill Polian in regards to the crippling effects of rookie salaries. Great work, Marv. End Note A story I saw today with quotes from Bill Polian, GM of the Colts (and formerly of the Bills), gives insight into a feeling I have had on the NFL draft since the late '90s and is now getting ridiculous. That is, that the financial commitment of top 10 picks, especially top 5, is so severe it makes it real difficult for struggling teams to turn their franchises around.  Last year, JaMarcus Russell, received $29 million in guaranteed money - before he ever took a snap! Salaries Crippling Poor Teams Now, some will say, "MARVelous, why are you sitting there complaining about the salaries, because everyone in the NFL is making plenty of money?" Well, a team that drafts in the top 5 has enormous pressure in selecting a player that will pan out, and then gets the gift of giving him whatever h...

    Canes Land First 2009 Commitment
    2008-02-20 15:12:00
Not more than a few hours after I posted the Sean Spence video yesterday, saying nothing much was going on so far in Hurricanes recruiting, AJ Highsmith committed to the University of Miami. If the name sounds familiar, that's because he is son of former Canes great Alonzo Highsmith. AJ is a quarterback/athlete and currently is unranked by major recruiting services, but is still a talented kid. From what I've heard about him, he'll probably be in the 3/4 star range.AJ is the 2nd of Alonzo's sons to commit to Miami, but the first, Ali, didn't qualify academically and instead had a stellar career at LSU. Shame. As far as other recruits go, there continue to be rumors about silent commits, and the number is up to 6 now. Who knows. None of it really counts until NSD 2009 anyway, so it's not a big deal. We've offered a bunch of kids by now and many of them have come out as having the Canes on the top of their lists. Some, like CB Darrell Givens have claimed they've always wanted to play for Mi...

    FSU Receives Another Commitment
    2008-02-14 07:47:00
So much for Bobby being done. This time it's 4-star safety JaJuan Harley who commits to the Noles for the 2009 class. For a safety, he has some blazing 4.37 speed. That makes the 3rd Top 50 player the Seminoles have gotten a commit from in the past week. Very impressive....

    Commitment Is Key
    2008-02-01 13:25:37
It is not uncommon for those involved in marketing networks to network hop; starting out with one multi level marketing opportunity, they will eventually discard it in favor of another opportunity, and so on. It goes without saying that these folks will spend a lot of time, energy, and also money chasing a success that in the end will elude them. While walking away from a business opportunity is acceptable when you have given it your all and just could not make it work to your satisfaction, the fact that so many take this step makes it evident that there are other factors in play.Marketing networks, for the commitment shy, will never pay out to the extent that they hope, and by and large it is the amount of work that goes into the process that makes the entire idea daunting. Add to this the fact that ever new and more exciting business opportunities crop up – most of them offering to require far less time and effort than their predecessors – and you can quickly ascertain why busine...

    My commitment
    2008-01-25 22:35:38
I joined Body Combat class last Thursday and I still have sore body until today ugh... My legs, back, deltoid/shoulders are in pain. Here is the benefit you'll get from Body Combat (taken from Les Mils site): Improves heart and lung function and reduces the risk of heart disease Tones and shapes key muscle groups Burns calories for a leaner body Improves co-ordination and agility Improves bone density Improves posture and core strength and stability Builds self-confidenceSince I need to loose some weights, I have made commitment to myself that I will try my best to exercise everyday and also join this Body Combat class every once in a week, hopefully I can lose this unwanted fat soon. And in result I won't defeated by this sore body, I need to stay strong and motivated :DHowever, I was looking for tips How to Ease Sore Muscle and here is what I got:Introduction Sore muscles can be cause by numerous things ranging from sleeping or sitting awkwardly, lifting heavy objects or an accident. Massage therapists, sports creams and medications are available to relieve sore, tight muscles. But before spending money, try these simple remedies at home to ease aching muscles.Steps Apply an ice pack for 20 minutes to any area that hurts. Repeat this every hour until the pain subsides. Stretch the sore area gently to rid your body of lactic acid, which contributes to the pain. Walk 15 to 30 minutes at least once a day to increase circulation throughout your body. This will also help deliver much-needed oxygen to the sore muscles. Drink a minimum of eight glasses (64 oz.) of water daily - more if you're active - to hydrate your body. Avoid strenuous activity as long as you're in pain.Tips and WarningsBe sure to warm up before exercising and stretching. For people with chronic conditions or continual episodes ...

    Commitment in business and life
    2007-08-20 11:31:00
I asked these questions on http://www.linledin.com/ and thought I would post some of the answers I received. This is a follow on from a three part post I did on Communication, Commitment, and Control. There was some interesting answers, names are with held, but can be seen on linkedIn How do you judge your level of commitment to a project? Can you increase other people’s level of commitment to a project? And if you can how do you go about it? Let's try a seven-point matrix. Ideally we'd need KPI’S for each of these. 1. Financial reward Does this project make me enough money to satisfy my out-of work priorities? Family? Health? Housing? Tickets to the ball-game? etc 2. Time No matter how much I love what I do, do I still have time for the out-of-work activities that are important to me? 3. Enjoyment Do I actually like what I do? Does it give me a thrill to do it? Am I confident that I can do it well? 4. People Do I like the company of the people I work with? Do they stimulate me, insp...

    A Unilateral Commitment
    2007-07-20 18:06:00
Again quoting Pat O'Brien, A parent is a person who makes a unilateral commitment to unconditionally commit to a child for a lifetime..I blogged about this quote back in October as I was talking about why I would adopt again. But I have been reminded of these words again and again in the past few weeks as I have been helping individuals with new adoptive placements navagate their way through difficult behaviors and inducement. Yesterday I was talking to a family who said, "I just don't think he wants to be here. He is not invested at all emotionally in our family." And they are exactly right. And that is where I come to the idea of a unilateral commitment. I am attempting lately to get new adoptive parents to view their newly placed child as an infant. Parents of birth children when their infant turned two months old would never report, "I just don't think our child is investing anything in this relationship. He gives nothing back. He's very selfish." Exactly. And he isn'...

Total Commitment -- Or Why I'm NOT a "Soccer Mom"
    2007-05-22 14:19:00
I have been amazed lately by how much every single activity that children are in requires "total commitment" from the family. Since most people have 1.7 kids (or 2.4) or whatever the average now is) it is reasonable (in the minds of the leaders of these activities) to ask the family to make a total commitment to that activity. However, I cannot make a total commitment to anything -- one child and that one activity cannot be our whole lives. Right now Boy Scouts and Competitive Soccer are the activities that we're finding are most insistent that we are at EVERYTHING. And, that just can't be. For example, on June 1st Rand Graduates from HIgh School. That weekend Tony has Tenderfoot Camp and Ricardo has a soccer tournament 90 miles from here. We can't do all three, something has to give.As you know, in the past 3 days Ricardo has played 5 soccer games and we have travelled 540 miles in these three days to get him there. He is VERY good and has a lot of potential and a true love f...

MILLIONAIRE SECRETS - The Commitment Of Sylvester Stallone
    2007-05-01 17:39:00
THE COMMITMENT OF SYLVESTER STALLONESurely, one of the best examples of the power of commitment and how 'doing whatever it takes will get you what you want' is the story of Sylvester Stallone. At his peak, Stallone was one of the most popular and highly paid stars in Hollywood, commanding a fee of US$20 million per movie. was he just born under a lucky star? Was he naturally talented actor? Was he at the right place at the right? Hardly. He was someone who seemed to have all the odds stacked up against him.His family was so poor that his mother had to give birth to him on the doorsteps of a school. A blotched delivery by students caused a facial nerve to be severed, leaving him paralyzed on the right side of his face. As a result, Stallone had to live the rest of his life with slurred speech. He even had to deal with having drooping lower lip and being made fun of because of his name 'Sylvester' (associated with the Looney Tunes cat). Despite all these limitations, young Stallone d...

    Commitment Rings
    0000-00-00 00:00:00
Commitment rings can be exchanged by couples in a romantic context, or they can be given from one person to another any time a promise is made. While some rings, particularly some vintage styles, are sold explicitly as commitment rings or promise rings, any ring can serve as a commitment ring if you choose to confer that significance upon it. There are beautiful rings to suit any budget, ranging from the simplest of silver and gold bands to elaborate settings of precious gems in platinum, white gold, and yellow or rose gold.Commitment Rings in Romantic RelationshipsMany same-sex couples have commitment ceremonies, since the federal government has thus far not chosen to legalize gay marriage. They may choose to exchange traditional wedding bands, or to use their rings as an expression of pride in their lifestyle. Rainbow crystal or gemstone rings are particularly popular as commitment rings for same-sex couples--some of the loveliest styles are channel settings of small identically cut ...
