| | Compliance Systems Lauds FTC Telemarketing Sales Rule Amendment | | 2008-08-23 08:18:48 | | Compliance Systems Corporation, a provider of compliance technologies and ethodologies to the teleservices industry, lauds the two recent Federal Trade Commission ("FTC") telemarketing sales rule amendments (the "TSR"). The first amendment expressly bars telemarketing calls that deliver prerecorded messages, unless a consumer previously consented to such calls. The second amendment modifies the FTC's current method of measuring the maximum permissible level of "call abandonment" to coincide with the existing Federal Communications Commission ("FCC") telemarketing rule. The current three percent abandonment rate will be retained, but it will be calculated over a thirty day period rather than on a daily basis."The recent rule changes by the FTC are aligned with the teleservices industry's commitment to adopting best practices," said Dean Garfinkel, chief executive officer of Compliance Systems Corporation. | | Developers Compliance to Test Automation | | 2008-04-11 12:22:00 | | A TestSquad reader sent me an email asking:Is there a verification process to help validate that application developers comply to test automation requirements during their application development?Usually we just give the requirements and expect application developers to comply but when you are doing the automation scripts already, some things are still skipped. I am looking for a process that will help them comply.e.g. automation requirement: name tables as xxxxI have to admit that answering such a question is not easy. How can you guarantee that development activity is compliant with a subsequent test automation? How does the developer's code affect the success of your test automation?1 month ago, i was considering Selenium RC to automate a Java web application. Unfortunately and for a reason, automation was not introduced till a late stage in the project. So as soon as we started recording scripts, a problem emerged: the development team did not give an "id" attribute to the numerou... | | By: Test Squad the Test Automation Blog | | |

| Microtune raises compliance issues with U.S. on DTV set tops | | 2008-03-31 06:25:29 | | Microtune shares test data on non-compliant CECB's with NTIA.Microtune sent a letter on March 25th to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) identifying a matter of critical importance to the U.S. government and to American consumers in the successful implementation of the U.S. digital television transition.Through internal testing in its Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) lab, Microtune has discovered tuner-related performance failures in certain certified coupon-eligible converter boxes (CECBs) that do not contain Microtune tuners (See Backgrounder below). These converter boxes are widely available in retail channels. Their failure to meet NTIA regulatory performance requirements could potentially result in the loss of digital TV reception in a number of major metropolitan areas, potentially impacting the millions of Americans who will rely on these converter boxes to receive free over-the-air TV broadcasts. Microtune has made its test results... | | By: Indonesia Type Approval/homologation/Compliance ce | | |

| | | OSHA 10 Hour Safety Compliance Training | | 2008-03-11 18:22:00 | | PureSafety offers online OSHA 10 hour safety courses for Construction and General Industry. I've personally taken the classroom version of the 10 Hour Construction course and I think the ability to take the class online is a huge benefit for companies. The reason I think that is you have six months to complete the course. That way you can have your employees take the course when it's convenient. If you have a bad weather day or a light work load that week you can get online and work on the course. After completing the OSHA 10 classes offered by PureSafety each student who successfully completes either program earns 1.0 IACET-approved CEUs and receives a 10-hour completion card. The site offers a great Demo Center that will allow you to see exactly how the program works. I really think this is a great way for small companies to meet their OSHA training obligations without committing your employees to specific dates and times.... | | By: Helpful Advice for Home Construction Improvement | | |
| | Ixilix Announces Support for Low-Cost Virtualized Disaster Recovery Over IP in Compliance-Based Data Center | | 2008-02-26 00:32:59 | | PHILADELPHIA, Ixilix announced today that its SAS 70 Type II data center now offers disaster recovery using virtualized servers and data replication over IP networks. "Many companies do not use a disaster recovery site because it is too expensive to buy a second set of hardware for the DR site, hardware that will naturally sit idle most of the time," said Robert Boyer, Senior Vice President at Ixilix. "Using virtualization greatly reduces hardware costs, and using data replication over IP means simple system management and minimal impact on production systems," Boyer added.Using server virtualization means that businesses can adhere to the disaster recovery best practice of one-to-one correspondence in systems for failover, but with much less capital expense. Data Replication over IP networks means that the disaster recovery site can feasibly be almost anywhere in relation to the primary site. Synchronous data replication, usually to storage area networks (SAN), generally has a limit o... | | By: Indonesia Type Approval/homologation/Compliance ce | | |

| | | EDI Software Companies, Compliance , AS2 Software and XML | | 2007-08-29 20:32:00 | | Acme Company has asked your company to move to EDI or start facing charges to receive Purchase Orders (850) and/or send Invoices (810) electronically. To a company this can take a while to understand what to look for.EDI companies have different business models. The majority of the "EDI" Electronic Data Interchange products out there are simply an EDI Service. They are set up to utilize either a Software program similar to email like MS Outlook or they demand the customer log into a website and process Sales orders and Invoices online. In both cases the client has to either highlight the sales orders and import them into their Accounting software or there is no integration going on at all. Many of these email style software programs simply dump the data and don't offer cross-referencing or product validation tables. How does this save the company time when they should be selling and trying to grow?AS2 Software and XML are the growing trends in the industry, Sage Software is looking at XML more for functionality in their software packages and companies such as Walmart or Office depot are using AS2 to reduce the cost of using VANs.In the case of Circuit City, they have a much more robust connection with the trading partners via XML.The business model of many EDI Companies are built around VAN fees, Kilo Character charges and transaction charges. They may supply you with the means to communicate via AS2 and comply only with your vendor while charging your company for every transaction when they should not be.Webforms or email style software is not integration, the eBridge application gets the order either through any 3rd party VAN of your choice such as Transnet (auto parts) or AS2 ( Free range communication ) , validates it and imports it into the Sage Accounting software. This can be run virtually unattended with exception reports for pricing decrepences or product errors etc from the trading partner. Truly automating your EDI.Don't let the VAN Anvil drop on you later with communication that should be free, eBridge supports XML,EDI,AS2,CSV,Flat files..etc... | | By: Sage Software EDI solutions blog. eBridge Software | | |
| | Google acquires Postini for email security and compliance | | 2007-07-11 04:59:42 | | Yesterday it was announced that Google would be buying Postini.com for $625 million dollars in cash.
This is important for Google for taking on Microsoft and their email services. The reason more businesses do not use Gmail for business applications is because of security reasons. Well now Google will be able to approach those businesses with their new security and I’m sure they will take over market share from Microsoft.
It’s funny because I interviewed with Postini a couple of years ago for a sales postion. A good friend of mine was hired in their first wave here in Austin and he told me they were doing a second wave. Unfortantely, I was sick the day of my interview. I went in anyhow and tried my best, but didn’t get the job.
Good for Postini for finding a buyer for their company. It must have been a nice payday for the principles and investors in the company.
