    Analyzing Comscore's India Internet Stats

    Internet in India is quite complex unlike US and with major centers of usage being internet cafes and even mobile phones. Comscore's internet data excludes both mobile phone users and internet cafes and still comes out with user base of 29 million people. Another aspects that Comscore notices is that Indian users prefer lot of international sites as compared to Indian websites. For the comparison when Comscore charted only Indian websites there numbers really show the massive difference in scale of indian and international website. The highest Indian website is Rediff with 8 million users in April compare it with a yahoo which has 140 million users internationally for the same month and even its India website has greater reach than most indian websites. Among other Indian website surprisingly even Naukri alone seem to have more users than Indiatimes despite Indiatimes having content from Times of India which is india's largest selling paper.     A report by comScore Inc., a web measurement firm proves that the holiday season remained strong for Internet retailers last week. This report reveals that the online sales reached $4.58 billion for the week ended Dec. 7. This is 19.6% increase against the $3.83 billion during the same week in 2006.     comScore Announces Top50 Properties for December

    comScore released statistics of U.S. consumer activity for the December '07 holiday season. Included was the always interesting list of the Top 50 web properties:"Yahoo! Sites continued its reign as the top U.S. Web property in December with nearly 137 million visitors, followed by Google Sites (133 million visitors) and Microsoft Sites (120 million visitors). Apple Inc., which benefited from interest in popular holiday gifts like the iPod and iPhone, moved up one spot to capture position 10 with 47.7 million visitors. Holiday shopping also lifted Sears Sites, which jumped 10 spots to number 21, Best Buy Sites, which rose 5 spots to 22, and JCPenney Sites, gaining 5 spots to position 40.
