| Rothman statement on Georgia conflict | | 2008-08-12 14:39:00 | | U.S. Rep. Steven Rothman, D-Fairlawn, released the following statement today about the conflict between Russia and Georgia. My only quesstion ... why make this statement? Does it really matter what a Congressman has to say about a foreign conflict of this nature?
“I condemn Russia for its aggressive and deadly attacks on Georgian territory. I am also saddened by the great loss of life, casualties, and displacement that have resulted from Russia’s hostile military operations in the Black Sea region – approximately 2,000 dead and 40,000 displaced. Georgia’s territorial integrity must be observed and respected by the Russians. I urge all parties involved to observe a cease-fire so that negotiations to reach a peaceful solution to this crisis can succeed.
“This recent conflict is another example of the dangerous fallout caused by the Bush Administration’s failed foreign policy initiatives over the past seven years. The President’s myopic fixation on keeping our troops bog... | | By: The Hudson Line Blog | | |

| Copts: Firsts in sectarian conflict | | 2008-07-09 04:20:00 | | Christians Under Attack - An illicit affair between a 17-year-old Coptic man and an 18-year-old Muslim married woman from the town of Tamiya in Fayoum resulted in Muslim demonstrations and the torching of Copts’ property last week. A Coptic-owned supermarket, timber store, and kiosk were torched, an attempt was made to set a gas station aflame but the fire was quickly put out. Two Coptic-owned cars were damaged, and two young men attacked. The security authorities, however, played a positive role in containing the situation. They heightened security in town, confiscated motorcycles and tuk-tuks since these were used to throw fiery balls at the Copts’ shops, and detained scores of Muslim suspects.... | | By: THE NEW BABYLON TIMES | | |

| Another North-South Sudanese Conflict? | | 2008-06-04 18:13:10 | | BBC: Armies ‘head for central Sudan’BackgroundSudan has been a nation of conflict ever since it gained independence from Great Britain. First, it was the north versus the south. The south, which is mostly Christian and animistic, fought two incredibly bloody civil wars to gain autonomy from the government-controlling, Sharia law-imposing, Muslim and ‘more Arab’ north. The conflict finally ended in 2005 after the Comprehensive Peace Agreement was signed, giving the South more autonomy and the possibility of secession after a referendum in 2011. However, more recently, genocide backed by Khartoum in the western region of Sudan, Darfur, has received much more media attention. That does not mean the conflict between the North and South did not continue – far from it.Recent escalations have occurred after new fighting in Abyei, an oil rich region. Control over the region has been a major point of conflict between the North and the South since the peace agreement was signed. What ca... | | By: Thoughts on the World | | |

| World In Conflict Review Roundup | | 2007-09-24 20:12:15 | | The long awaited strategy/action game World In Conflict is here, and the reviews are in too. And from the looks of it, World In Conflict is probably the RTS game of the year. GameSpot (95/100) “If you’re a strategy fan, you should definitely try World in Conflict. And even if you’re turned off by standard real-time strategy games, you owe it to yourself to try out what Massive has come up with in this exquisite package.” IGN (93/100) “It’s not very often that a real-time strategy title comes along and changes the way you think about the genre. World in Conflict is one of those, not because all of the ideas are totally new, but because they’re all put together in such a successful way.”Eurogamer (90/100) “It’s intelligently structured, so you can lose yourself for hours or indulge in a quick twenty minute skirmish, while the multiplayer mode is an absolute monster if you’re willing to submit to its co-operative style” GameSpy (100/100) “World in Conflict is a t... | | By: Online Games | | |

| On The Campaign Trail: Conflict Grows | | 2007-09-08 20:55:00 | | -Fred Thompson stumbled right out of the gate in an Iowa town hall style meeting, one of his first official campaign stops. When asked about the progress in Iraq, he rambled about an Iraq smoking ban that he asserted made Iraqis side with Americans: "They said, 'You gotta quit smoking.'" This odd tangent baffled Iowans, who seemed largely unimpressed by Thompson's rhetoric.-John Edwards and Barack Obama both flung insults at Hillary Clinton. Barack Obama attacked Clinton's experience: "There are those who tout their experience working the system in Washington. I understand that," Obama said. "But the problem is, the system in Washington is not working for us." John Edwards attacked an even more vulnerable area: her failed healthcare efforts from when her husband was president: "For more than 20 years, Democrats have talked about universal health care. In 1993, Democrats controlled both chambers in Congress" and voters elected "a president who actually had the courage to propose a p... | | By: I Hate Your Opinions | | |

| | By: Entretenimiento Online | | |

| Resolve Conflict if you need too | | 2007-07-19 12:35:00 | | A conflict resolution tool box by Roger Darlington:Be calm. Conflict usually engenders strong emotions and even anger but, in such a state, you are unlikely to be particularly rational or in the mood for compromise.Always show respect. However much you disagree with someone, attack the argument, not the person. To use a sporting metaphor: play the ball, not the man. As Nelson Mandela explained in his autobiography "Long Walk To Freedom": "I defeated my opponents without dishonouring them".Be magnanimous. In truth, most conflict is over matters of little substance and often it is mostly pride or status that is at stake. Consider conceding the point to your opponent. This will save you time and energy and you can concentrate on the important issues of difference rather than the smaller ones. Also, if your concession is done with good grace and even some humour, it will disarm your opponent and make him/her look small-minded by comparison.Discuss or debate. So often, conflict is created a... | | By: Gordon Whyte's Blog of the daily challenges of an | | |

| Conflict Resolution at Work | | 2007-06-07 02:53:00 | | No two humans come out of the same mold and differences
in ideas and opinions are bound to arise. Differences lead to
Conflicts. When well-handled, conflicts are in effect good for
the organization as they often lead to creative ideas and
changes for the better. Conflicts become counterproductive
when they give rise to enmity, hostility, tension, confusion
and sabotage among the workers. If

| Attract more Venture Capital by Avoiding Angel Round Conflict | | 2004-04-20 09:28:00 | | The use of friends, business associates and Angels as sources of financing often appears attractive as a relatively uncomplicated, readily available capital source. For startups, they are often the only form of capital available. Yet, care must be taken to ensure that this early round of capital does not interfere with long-term financing. Angel financing is typically a one-time source, in which
