| I Think “Conservatives” Are Nicer Than Liberals | | 2008-07-02 12:18:34 | | NO SENSE OF HUMOR?I think the studies they’ve done on Conservatives and Liberals may be true. I’d rather term it Republicans and Democrats and for this commentary I will. We lovely Republicans are happier, kinder, and more generous. I wonder how that corresponds to the theory that we are rude, nasty, and don’t give anything to anyone? Liberals are alleged to be the most perfect beings since the Olympic gods graced ancient Greece. (Oh, wait, they were nasty little you know what’s weren’t they?) I guess I’m tired liberals who complain about how bad we are, but forget ... | | By: The Pink Flamingo | | |

| Conservatives Need to Quit Complaining about John McCain’s Energy Policies | | 2008-06-14 22:34:00 | | STOP THE THREATS & START WORKINGI’m trying to remember an old saying about those who can’t complain and those who do just get out and do. It makes me wonder about conservatives who don’t like John McCain’s energy policies. Maybe they should just shut up about it already yet and go out there, roll up their sleeves, and figure a way out of this mess. Or – can they. I have this bad feeling all they can do is complain, because they’re impotent to come up with any real rational solution. | Conservatives Mistreating Bush & the McClellan Betrayal | | 2008-05-29 22:14:35 | | IT WILL HAUNT THEMI think one of the saddest things I’ve seen in quite awhile is this book by Scott McClellan. It is tragic. There is no happy ending for this story, none. Scott McClellan, unless he becomes a vast left wing nut, is finished. He has betrayed people who were good and decent to him. He’s burned his Republican bridges, but from what I hear from Michael Medved’s broadcasts, his mother detests GWB and the GOP, has gone third party. His father is a disbarred Texas attorney. The past part looked at the sources of the problem. Today we examine how pervasive the problem is. This is another of those pieces where I've been working on for several weeks. The most important lesson we can take to the ballot box this political season is the fact that there is an energized conservative movement that is completely independent of the GOP. | Why I Am Annoyed with Conservatives | | 2008-05-11 23:34:12 | | SUNDAY, MAY 11I want to set the record straight on a few things. First, I am conservative. I am not “A Conservative”. I am conservative. My conservative values have NEVER changed – except for my views on capital punishment. I was for it, but then when I really began thinking about the pro-life implications, I cannot support it. I do not believe in taking a person’s life – no matter who. My only exception is for treason and then just shoot ‘em where they stand. This is the only thing about my conservative views that has changed. I want ... | | By: The Pink Flamingo | | |

| Conservatives & Ron Paul Bot Cost GOP House Seat In LA Last Night | | 2008-05-04 21:02:47 | | WAS JENKINS IMMIGRATION POSITION A LOSER?Once again sore-headed LOOSER conservatives have triumphed. Last night, in Louisiana, Republican turned Independent, Ashley Casey, cost the Republicans yet another house seat. If her votes had gone to GOP candidate, Woody Jenkins, Jenkins would have had 50,459 votes to Democrat default winner, "Don" Cazayoux, who had an unofficial 49,702. | Clinton Conservatives, Go Home. | | 2008-01-15 01:20:13 | | Writes Vox Day: Now, it is true that some individuals are very liberal in their youth and become more conservative as they get older. But if one examines the "conservative" media, one notices a surprising number of individuals who were liberals and claim to be conservatives now, but still continue to advocate the same powerful and intrusive central government that they advocated in their liberal youth. And like young cuckoos and cowbirds, these parasites attempt to push the genuine intellectual heirs out of the nest, hence National Review founder William F. Buckley's attacks on Murray Rothbard and Joe Sobran, FrontPage's Ben Johnson's call for "modern conservatives" to repudiate Paul Craig Roberts, National Review's David Frum's call for "a conservatism of the future" to turn its back on Patrick Buchanan, Robert Novak, Llewellyn Rockwell, Samuel Francis, Thomas Fleming, Scott McConnell, Justin Raimondo, Joe Sobran, Charley Reese, Jude Wanniski, Eric Margolis and Taki Theodoracopulos. And just last week, National Review's Kathryn Lopez demanded "Ron Paul, Go Home" in bold-face type, which is a very strange thing for a supposed conservative to say about the man who is indisputably the only genuinely conservative Republican candidate for president. This is not conservative behavior; it is the language and the controlling tactics of the left. These supposedly "conservative" individuals are not advocating anything that is even remotely recognizable as historical conservatism, but, nevertheless, claim that advocating big government policies, strong government actions, heroic government measures and imperialist government interventions are a new, shiny and better conservatism for the future. If this all sounds very familiar, it should, because it is nothing less than Clinton conservatism. It is not the real conservatives, but the word thieves who need to go home; go home to the statist, authoritarian, big-government left where they rightly and truly belong. | | By: Republican Renaissance | | |

| The YouTube Debate: Critiquing Conservatives' Criticisms | | 2007-11-30 14:38:00 | | There have been a lot of rumblings in the blogosphere about CNN's handling of the Republican YouTube debate this week in Florida. Popular conservative bloggers such as David Limbaugh of Town Hall and Michelle Malkin have excoriated CNN for including the questions they asked and not thoroughly vetting the "undecided voters" who participated in the debate. For example, there are links between the retired Army general who asked if gays should be allowed to openly serve in the military and Hillary Clinton. Also, during the post-debate segment, CNN conducted an interview with a focus group and highlighted an "undecided" voter who was so uninspired by what she had seen that she decided she would vote for Edwards. However, this "undecided" voter really had been an Edwards supporter all along. To the conservative community, these are two instances show that CNN is biased against conservatives and is an arm of the Clinton political machine, as it is often derided as the "Clinton News Networ | | By: The 7-10 | | |

| When Conservatives had a Conscience | | 2007-11-12 00:18:07 | | When it wasn't just about grabbing and holding onto power, it was about principles. It was about honoring core beliefs. In 1960, Barry Goldwater took up in his hands the remnants of America's original and long lost tradition when he wrote:"I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them. It is not to inaugurate new programs, but to cancel old ones that do violence to the Constitution, or that have failed in their purpose, or that impose on the people an unwarranted financial burden. I will not attempt to discover whether legislation is 'needed' before I have first determined whether it is constitutionally permissible. And if I should later be attacked for neglecting my constituents' 'interests', I shall reply that I was informed their main interest is liberty and that in that cause I am doing the v | | By: Republican Renaissance | | |

| Conservatives Have No Clothes: An Interview With Greg Anrig | | 2007-11-11 18:27:23 | | The topic below was originally posted in my blog, the Intrepid Liberal Journal as well as the Independent Bloggers Alliance, The Peace Tree, Wild Wild Left and Worldwide Sawdust. To paraphrase former President Ronald Reagan, conservatism is not the solution to the problem; conservatism is the problem. In the recently published book, The Conservatives Have No Clothes: Why Right-Wing Ideas Keep Failing (Wiley & Sons), policy expert and journalist Greg Anrig indicts right-wing ideology and examines their legacy of insipid governance. It’s a familiar tale of woe for liberals at this point. The conservative method over simplifies problems such as terrorism with misguided fear mongering about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Domestically conservatives will distort the root causes of why inner city schools fail by demonizing the entire public school system or make false claims that Social Security is poised for imminent collapse. In terms of obtaining and holding onto power the conservative method of marketing distortion has been highly effective in most national elections since 1968.The consequences for the country have been disastrous. Even when Democrats have prevailed, the radical trend of privatization was only slowed temporarily to the detriment of workers and consumers alike. From healthcare, to the gutting of FEMA and the misguided pursuit of empire have left Americans economically insecure and isolated in a dangerous world. In a sober analysis, Anrig, the Vice President of Programs at the Century Foundation, a progressive think tank and regular contributor to the liberal blog tpmcafe.com, critiques the conservative record. Specifically, Anrig evaluates the degree that policies championed by conservatives have delivered on their promise to make America stronger and safer and our government smaller and more efficient.E. J. Dionne, syndicated columnist for the Washington Post praised Anrig’s book and noted:“Ending the conservative era requires organizing, | | By: The Peace Tree | | |

| Conservatives Coming to a Climate Consensus? | | 2007-10-18 20:42:05 | | No. But they are realizing that achieving energy independence and fighting climate change both have common solutions. Over at Townhall conservative columnist Cal Thompson comes around to a point I made over a year ago about the debate on climate change (although he first does some Gore bashing and accuses those that believe in global warming of being a cult first)"Republicans and Democrats repeatedly tell us we rely too much on foreign oil, especially that which comes from a current trouble spot, the Middle East, and that which comes from a potential trouble spot, Venezuela. Might it be possible for the CGW crowd and the Church of Free Enterprise (CFE) to come together for the common purpose of reducing our reliance on foreign oil? CGW fundamentalists would get what they want — a reduced carbon footprint and supposedly lower global temperatures (go ahead and let them believe it) — while CFE parishioners would rejoice that Saudi Arabia’s hold on us (not to mention its use of our money to underwrite terrorism) could be broken. If we would launch an energy independence program with the intensity of a Marshall Plan for Europe, or a man-on-the-moon project, to liberate ourselves from the petroleum despots by developing synthetic fuels and finding new energy sources closer to home — especially nuclear power — we could strike a blow against the Islamofascists more damaging than bombs and bullets."I'm glad he's finally gotten past his partisan myopia on this topic and started to see the forest rather than the trees. However Mr. Thompson's call for "an energy independence program with the intensity of a ... man-on-the-moon project" went out years ago and was in part answered by Republicans for Environmental Protection (and other groups) when The Apollo Alliance was formed. Unfortunately he missed it because at the time as he (and many others) were too busy painting anyone concerned about global warming as a liberal flake. The result being that we are years behind where we could and should be in regards to energy independence and the Dems picked up the hybrid energy independence/global warming ball and ran with it which contributed to their ability to oust the GOP majority. My point is that too many pundits, commentators, columnists, and bloggers are discounting the message due to the political affiliations of its messenger to the detriment of the greater good (and their political party). If the drivers of public opinion spent half as much time considering the possible merits of their opponents ideas as they do attacking the messenger we'd be in much better shape as a nation and much farther down the path to energy independence than we are. And maybe if Mr. Thompson can realize different problems sometimes have the exact same solutions and that a concerted bipartisan effort is needed for the greater good others can too.H/T to Terra Rosa

| Christian Conservatives Consider Third Party Candidate | | 2007-10-01 21:03:00 | | In an interesting twist, a large coalition of Christian conservatives met in Salt Lake City to discuss a possible third-party candidate if Giuliani is their nominee. Let's take a look at what could happen as a result.1. The first conclusion is obvious: Giuliani will win the nomination, but the Democratic nominee will easily win the presidency because the normally Republican votes will be split by the third party candidate.2. This effort on the part of these conservatives will scare the Republicans enough to vote for somebody other than Giuliani in the primaries, thus perhaps achieving the coalition's real goal of both getting rid of Giuliani and having a shot at the White House in 2008, though they may be disappointed if Romney is the alternative.People don't seem to consider the second possibility. | | By: I Hate Your Opinions | | |

| Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Invited to Speak at Columbia University: No Conservatives Allowed | | 2007-09-22 02:20:40 | | Liberals seem to think that it benefits their academic environment by allowing dictators and tyrants to speak at their Universities. Yet, while they proclaim themselves as champions of free speech, they so quickly forget how intolerant they are when that speech is Conservative. Just this year, the MinuteMan Project (an organization that is anti illegal immigration) were stormed by protestors before they even had a chance to speak. They were even physically threatened and had to leave. Lee Bollinger refused to reprimand any of the students. Had it been a liberal speaker on stage, someone surely would have pulled out the taser. In all seriousness, it was an absolute embarrassment that Colombia University breached its duty to protect Conservative guests who speak at its University. It is also relevant that the MinuteMan Project is on the same ideological side as 80%+ of Americans. | Bring Liberals and Conservatives Together and Impeach Alberto Gonzales | | 2007-07-31 19:05:03 | | It is about time Conservatives stop making excuses for Alberto Gonzales. He is an abject failure as an Attorney General, and has demonstrated that he clearly was not running anything anyway. As much as it is hard for a libertarian like me to praise John Ashcroft, I think it is that time. At least Ashcroft would not have allowed things to get this bad. In fact, I think Alberto Gonzales may be too incompetent to be impeached; he just is too clueless to commit a “High Crime and Misdemeanor.”Pathetically, Alberto Gonzalez managed to turn multiple non-scandals into major catastrophes. For example, when the United States Attorneys were fired, there was speculation as to whether or not the firing was political. Had Gonzales simply said, “President Bush can fire anyone he wants in the Executive Branch for whatever reason because the Constitution makes him the head of the Executive branch,” there would have been no scandal. We should have known better. The left has moved further and faster to its fascist roots then I ever could have imagined. This fascist drift of the Dems has the support of the media and they want Fox News dead (not to mention Limbaugh, Dr. Laura, Boortz, Savage, etc.); they can't even tolerate Lou Dobbs.Libertarians and Conservatives alike must act. They are so busy worrying about some fake terror threat (that the REPUBLICAN government invented) that they can't see the real problems in the world! They invade innocent countries and rape their lands and people! They sit idly by while horrible things happen. In fact, conservatives cause almost half of those horrible things anyway! Why can't they be more like liberals and have real problems! Why can't they worry about the REAL eminent dangers in this world!? Just the other day a glacier melted half an inch...And I Want to Know WHY! I want to know why it was warmer this summer than last summer but actually not as hot as that summer in the 80s...Uhm, Yea. Who will protect these innocent glaciers!? Don't they know that in 200 years that glacier might not be there!! No, because they are blindly chasing Al Queda which totally doesn't exist anyway. They are so worried about a terror attack made years ago on US soil that they ignore an uncontrollable freak of nature disaster! And that was Bush's fault too you know...I have received this information from the most trustworthy rappers in America!!How dare we be distracted by all those middle east problems when Paris Hilton can't find her chihuahua!!??
