| | InTel’s New Six Core Chip Necessary for Consumers? | | 2008-08-08 07:34:38 | | Hence, the question of “Does your computer system really need the extra cores?” comes into mind. Parties who have just bought into the dual core & quad core chips will perhaps think about the unused cores on their computers before upgrading. Therefore, there is a chance for AMD to retain some market share in the second half of 2008 as people are reluctant to upgrade to unnecessary six core advancement from Intel. It seems that the only reason why Intel is coming out with the six core Dunnington chip is to show the consumers how far ahead it is in 2008 against AMD.... | | By: internet executive log | | |

| Lifesaver of Bad Credit consumers | | 2008-07-08 04:54:18 | | In the past, I think everyone with bad credit history felt the troublesome of getting credit or establish credit. | | | More consumers, workers shoplift as economy slows | | 2008-06-28 23:31:00 | | By Christine Dugas, USA TODAYOne morning last month, the manager of a Stop & Shop in Methuen, Mass., noticed a man, along with his young daughter, leave the store without paying for several bags of shrimp. When police arrived, they found something else on him, too: 20 cans of baby formula.Call it a sign of the times. Steadily and alarmingly, shoplifting seems to be rising at many retail chains, and experts are pointing at a prime cause: the sputtering economy."Wages aren't keeping up with inflation, especially the price of food and energy," says Diane Swonk, chief economist at Mesirow Financial. "It just leaves less money for everything else, and that breeds a lot of temptation."Retail and law enforcement experts agree that they've seen an increase in store theft during the current slowdown — and not only from customers."It's clear that both employee theft and shoplifting are up," says Richard Hollinger, professor of criminology at the University of Florida who compiles the annual Na... | | By: How to be Rich, Happy and Free from Scams | | |

| | | LifeLock Reviews By Consumers: Identity Theft Prevention! | | 2008-06-14 06:10:43 | | A billiards buddy, Yaschica Ann Isip, saw my post on LifeLock and sent a text message asking for more info. Yashica Ann was particularly intrigued with the number of customers, who have chosen LifeLock to guarantee their good name - more than 700,000! I did another browse of the LifeLock reviews by consumers and came upon the Life Lock blog, which features a ton of stories on identify thefts and how to prevent such. The stories include a specific global crime ring based in Romania, which successfully stole credit card information, SSN, and other personal identifiable information from Internet users. This crime ring made use of fake emails that appear to be from legitimate banks directing people to fake websites that requested users to input sensitive data into online forms! The story would then have had a different ending if only the victims had LifeLock! | | Consumers Will Emerge Victorious in War of Providers | | 2008-02-26 14:09:38 | | It's been said before that 2008 will go down as the year of the mobile device. Cell phones are getting smarter every generation and the rate of adoption is skyrocketing. Many of the smart phone buyers will probably tell you that they never pictured themselves buying one. Why is this happening? What has spurred this trend? One can't really point the finger at one particular reason as it's a combination of many things happening in the industry. Everyone knows that customer satisfaction is what drives people to buy or use certain products and services. Now, more than ever, these satisfaction rates are climbing. There are three things that have happened over the last year within the cellular industry that have started changing things forever. Commitment to being open, pro-rated early termination fees, and the price war of 2008 are going to be looked at as the events responsible for the sea-change.Lately each company seems to be mimicking the next, afraid to get left behind. | | 2009 Honda Pilot ’scored lousy’ with consumers | | 2008-01-29 11:53:27 | | 2009 Honda Pilot 'scored lousy' with consumers
When the Honda Pilot first debuted back in 2002, truck-based SUVs were still quite popular. While the Pilot used unibody construction rather than the typical body-on-frame construction found in most SUVs of the time, its chunky exterior gave it the look of a true truck. However, since 2002 a lot has changed and most crossover buyers now want a sleek, stylish exterior — something Honda apparently forgot to account for in the redesign of their 2009 Pilot. When Honda took the wraps off of its 2009 Pilot prototype — basically a pre-production vehicle — it was met with a lukewarm reception. The Pilot's styling seemed to be missing any elements that really stood out and, overall, the design was considered boring. Apparently, consumers feel the same way. According to a report conducted by CNW Research, the new Pilot "scored lousy" with consumers. The 2009 Pilot managed to only score a 7.5 on a 12 point scale. Typical scores for new vehicles usually range from 8.7 to 9. "Mostly, people said it was boring — there was nothing distinctive about it to them in a positive way," Art Spinella, president of CNW, told Edmunds. He continued by saying consumers surveyed "were not really crazy about any particular part of the exterior. Normally you don't see that with a new car; some feature will turn them on. But this [lukewarm reaction] was pretty much 360 degrees." Honda is no stranger to new models that don't make a good impression with consumers. When Honda unveiled it Advanced Sports Car Concept at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show, it was met with less-than-favorable reviews and prompted Honda designers to go back to the drawing board, delaying the car's launch. Honda hasn't announced any plans as radical as that, but the Japanese automaker has to at least be a little bit concerned, especially considering the Pilot's sales were off 20% in 2007. ... | | By: Auto News: Car Reviews, Car News, Car Shows | | |

| | Personal Finance - Have Consumers Had A Belly Full Of Personal Debt? | | 2008-01-05 19:54:00 | | For months, we were trigger-swipe happy, putting our groceries, clothes, holidays and service charges on our credit cards. We wanted mortgages, we took out loans, we watched Property Ladder and What Not To Wear. Whether you were born middle class, had middle class aspirations, you became middle class through your spending. Debt united people around the UK, we sympathised with each other on what we couldn’t afford – but it didn’t matter, we still bought it. Soon everybody had a bottle of Jacob’s Creek in their kitchen and olives and humous in the fridge.[ finance , and ,money ]Yet, it would seem as if a debt conscience is setting in. This morning, The Guardian printed a story based on the fact that Nationwide had reported a 0.2% decrease in the average house price, whilst the Times reported on a statement from the Bank of England, showing that credit-card borrowing was at its slowest rate for more than four years, with mortgage lending also very static.According to the latest Department of Trade and Industry Survey, 5% of individuals reported finding their household’s debt repayments a “heavy burden” and 4% of individuals are currently behind in payments for at least one credit commitment or domestic bill over the past three months.According to Credit Action, in December 2004, 1.2 million electricity and 1 million gas domestic customers were behind in repaying their debts to their supplier. Additionally 20% of people say that they often neglect checking their bank balance because “they are too scared to find out how much money they have”, according to Lloyds TSB.Credit Action also reported that the number of people searching for help to manage their debts had almost doubled in May in 2005, compared to figures in May 2004 and a survey from Relate revealed that 44% of couples find money to be a contentious issue in their relationship and a quarter of people in debt are receiving treatment for stress, depression and anxiety from their GP.It doesn’t h... | | By: FINANCE. | | |

| | For Some Consumers, Credit Crunch Ahead | | 2007-08-13 19:11:00 | | by Andrea CoombesMortgage lenders going bankrupt, hedge funds evaporating, the stock market gyrating wildly: What does it all mean for you and me?There's no denying that the financial markets are on edge and volatile, and some companies are in difficult straits, triggered in large part by rising foreclosures in the subprime market and the effect on investments tied to those mortgage loans. But the degree to which the current situation affects individual Americans depends a lot on what you've got planned in coming months. If you'd like to tap into the mortgage market -- buy a house, refinance your mortgage, take a home equity line of credit -- the recent turmoil will directly affect what kind of loan you can get and how much it will cost. For many borrowers now, "it's more difficult to get a mortgage loan," said Mark Zandi, chief economist with Moody's Economy.com. | | US consumers warned of secret shopping scams | | 2007-07-17 16:38:00 | | In a new report on secret shopping, ShopSmart magazine reports that there are about 1.5 million mystery, or secret, shoppers across the country who help companies check everything from the friendliness of sales people to the number of minutes it takes to be seated in a restaurant. "If you enjoy shopping and want to make some extra cash, mystery shopping might be worth a try," said Lisa Lee Freeman, editor-in-chief, ShopSmart. "But be wary of scams and don't expect to make big money or receive lots of free stuff." Companies use secret shoppers, who get their assignments mostly though consulting firms, to determine how well they are doing and to find out about their competitors. This includes "compliance" shopping, to see if employees are following regulatory laws such as properly checking liquor buyer's ID; "reveal" shopping, awarding certificates or money to cashiers who remember to offer fries with that coke; or "diversity" shopping, to make sure everyone is being treated fairly. All of which plays an important role in helping companies figure our where they need improvement. ShopSmart offers consumers tips on how to get started in the business of secret shopping: - Don't Get Ripped Off. Watch out for scams that usually come through e-mail, in newspapers or online. Never pay for advice or job listings. - Find Real Jobs. Visit sites run by the Mystery Shopping Providers Association (http://www.mysteryshop.org/) or Volition (http://www.volition.com/) where mystery shoppers go to find work, ask questions and chat. - Get Certified. Another good source is Smiley University, an online school for mystery shoppers at http://www.aboutfacecorp.com/. ShopSmart recommends trying out a few jobs first before committing funds to a certificate. - Do a Background Check. Before accepting assignments, check the company's reputation at the Better Business Bureau in that company's local area as well as Volition's forum. - Keep Good Records. Be sure to separate fees, which are subject to income tax, from reimbursed expenses, which typically are not. Any un-reimbursed expenses may be eligible for deduction from your income, including use of a car, which will also need to be backed up with detailed records. Get expert tax advice. Legitimate mystery shopping assignments usually pay around $US10 to $US25 or can be twice the amount if the assignment requires special expertise. Phone-in jobs can pay as little as 50 cents. | | EUROPE: euroCommission outlines charter for energy consumers [video] | | 2007-07-07 15:53:00 | | The European Commission has laid down the basis for a charter, to protect the rights of energy users throughout the EU. It is also intended to reassure customers, worried about the possible negative effects of opening up energy markets across Europe. The EU wants to encourage competition among energy suppliers, in the main, to bring down prices. The charter, which is due to be signed in December, will lay down a minimum level of service for people having trouble with their bills, thereby avoiding so-called energy poverty. The charter is also intended to enshrine minimum standards in customers' contracts - like explaining the supplier's mark-up, where the energy comes from, and how consumers can complain, cheaply and simply. It will also give customers the right to change their electricity or gas supplier free-of-charge. The charter will pull together rules which are currently scattered among three european directives. ... | | By: energy BLOG | | |
| | UNITED KINGDOM: Falling Energy Costs Are A Gas For U.K. Consumers | | 2007-06-16 17:30:00 | | A price war among the leading British energy suppliers heated up on Friday following the introduction of promised cuts in gas and electricity bills from Scottish Power and EDF Energy. But with rival British Gas already undercutting the new prices, is it a case of too little too late? Scottish Power, owned by Iberdrola (other-otc: IBDRY - news - people )of Spain, is bringing into effect gas price reductions of up to 16.5% and electricity price cuts of up to 5.5%. | | GMC Acadia; What Consumers Are Saying | | 2007-01-15 03:09:00 | | I am a car salesman for a GM Dealership and was happy to see the GMC Acadia finally arrive. Consumers are flocking in to see the design that replaced the 3 row GMC Envoy XL.I have not talked to anyone that does not love the new design. The only complaint I have heard is about the engine. The 3.6 Liter V6 may be a little under-powered for the size of the vehicle, but the 26 MPG Hwy mileage helps persuade a would-be buyer that there is plenty of power. There are plenty of options on the vehicle to satisfy any taste. You can get 2 sunroofs, navigation, DVD, option of cloth or leather, heated seats, memory seats, just to name a few. The pricing is not bad either. The cloth base model starts out around $30,000 all the way up to fully loaded topping $42,000 and a large range of options in between. If you have not driven or seen the GMC Acadia, take time to go by your local GMC dealer to take a look. You will be very surprised at the inside space with the 3 rows of seats. One of the most popul... | | By: Car Buying Tips To Save You Money | | |
