    Cynthia Nixon’s Breast Controversies
    2008-07-01 00:18:00
I'm sure after coming out and facing the challenges presented to her by breast cancer Cynthia would have preferred everybody leaving her breasts alone.   But rumors of her having had a breast augmentation surfaced not some days ago with few publications talking about Cynthia Nixon's recent visit to a cosmetic surgeon. There are no pictures of the no-nonsense Sex and the City star after the said breast surgery and so far no comment from the actress' rep either.   It is not unusual for women to go in for a breast augmentation procedure after emerging from a battle with cancer. While some women would prefer to proudly forgo prosthetic breasts, others would rather make a statement with breast implants.   Cynthia, if the news is anything to go by, must have opted to fall in the second group. It's not easy for women to lose a breast or both breasts to cancer and go in for artificial ones. Whatever they have a breast augmentation surgery or forgo it- it's a tough choice

On Political Opportunism and Manufactured Controversies
    2008-06-18 09:55:00
The 2008 presidential campaign is turning out to be the campaign of surrogates and guilt by association. John McCain, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and many other candidates have had to apologize for and/or distance themselves from some of their supporters who have made provocative, embarrassing, or downright offensive remarks. Some of these transgressions and embarrassments happened on the campaign trail, as was the case with Black Entertainment Television founder and Clinton supporter Bob Johnson who alluded to Barack Obama's past drug use. In other instances, the controversial remarks happened several years in the past, as was the case with Jeremiah Wright, Obama's former pastor. Some of these remarks are truly outrageous and deserve to be covered by the media. Any politician affiliated with a person who makes such remarks should rightfully be prepared to explain them. However, we appear to have reached a level of hypersensitivity and absurdity in which feigned outrage stems from tr

Gul Panag: Controversies just get built up
    2008-05-12 03:26:11
Gul Panag is disappointed with the way a major section of media operates today. As per her, in their quest for finding 'news bytes', they sometimes have a question worded in a clever manner, hence leading to celebrities coming up with comments which may lead to a controversy in the making. "Seriously, so many times it happens that you are asked a question for which you are required to answer in the spur of a moment", says Gul who would soon be seen in SUMMER 2007, "You may say but only a part of your reply may make a headline which may give an altogether different context. Soon, you find a controversy building up and everyone appears to be lapping it up with glee." But then so many tabloids and publications are only thriving on such quotes and bytes. They need something for running the show, isn't it? "And that's exactly the sad point in the entire affair", Gul says with an exasperated tone, "Earlier there was a tabloid or two that used to run gossip columns but today the scene is enti

Continuing With The Debate On Osho’s Controversies
    2008-04-19 19:17:26
I have started to believe of late, that one should try to keep away from the Osho communes and his followers. The master was so impressive that you start expecting his followers to match his virtuosity too, at least in some degree, which is too much of an expectation unfortunately. A majority of them can [...]

    Injectable Controversies:
    2008-02-27 03:46:00
Botox has been garnering considerable attention recently with reports of alleged casualties and deaths due to the administration of this toxin surfacing. The treatment has constantly been in the limelight ever since its benefits for medical and cosmetic surgery use was discovered. The stigma attached to botulinum is mainly due to the nature of the material. In its pure state the toxin is a very harmful substance. Medical research harnessed the paralyzing properties of botulinum and created botulinum type A or Botox cosmetic which is used as to paralyze wrinkle-causing muscles. The application of the Botox cosmetic is currently approved for the area between the eyebrows, the outer corners of the eyes, around the mouth and in the neck.More recent uses for FDA approved Botox is for treating severe sweating problems in the underarm and palm areas. The administration has also approved Botox for treating excess sweating in the scalp and the soles of the feet. Botox can also used for clin

    Controversies

Controversies Insurance insulates too much By creating a "security blanket" for its insureds, an insurance company may inadvertently find that its insureds may not be as risk-averse as they might otherwise be (since, by definition, the insured has transferred the risk to the insurer). This problem is known to the insurance industry as moral hazard. To reduce their own financial exposure, insurance companies have contractual clauses that mitigate their obligation to provide coverage if the insured engages in behavior that grossly magnifies their risk of loss or liability. For example, life insurance companies may require higher premiums or deny coverage altogether to people who work in hazardous occupations or engage in dangerous sports. Liability insurance providers do not provide coverage for liability arising from intentional torts committed by the insured. Even if a provider were so irrational as to desire to provide such coverage, it is against the public policy of most countries

Controversies Made Osho Rajneesh More Colorful
    2008-01-12 17:16:53
I was just reading these excerpts from a book on Osho Rajneesh, which claims it has taken a wide range of opinions into its account. Although none of the controversies, Osho is spoken of, were listed in the paragraphs I read there, the Indian born guru was a controversial figure indeed in the [...]

Amrita Rao shocking with controversies surrounding her.
    2008-01-05 21:36:00
AMRITA RAO is in shock at the current spate of controversies surrounding her. Recently a Mumbai tabloid reported that she was spotted with Shahid Kapoor and his family watching a film at a suburban multiplex. How come people make all this storeis I was celebrating New Year's at home with my cousins. After that I had an early morning flight to catch to Delhi for the promotions of My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves .Coming from a very well to do, Chitrapur Saraswat Brahmin family, this Gemini born (on June 17th) started her modeling career with ‘Fairever’ fairness cream ad but it was the Close-up ad that fetched her recognition.Within 18 months, she was the face that promoted Major Brands such as Clean & Clear Face Wash, Pantene Hair Wash, Wringly Chewing Gum, Domino's Pizza, Anne French, HMT Watches and a lot of South Indian ads.But it was after the success of the Cadbury's Perk and the Bru coffee ad that movie offers started pouring in. Having modeled for nearly 35 ads, her decision to act in films didn't come as a surprise."Raj Kanwar saw that ad and got in touch with me for Ab Ke Baras opposite Arya Babbar, who was debuting in the film.” She continues, "Since Ab Ke Baras has a reincarnation theme and I get to portray two different characters in the film,I could not have asked for anything better.”Rajkumar Santoshi approached Amrita after seeing her in a coffee ad but she turned down the film offer since she wanted to concentrate on her studies. Then came Legend of Bhagat Singh with the brief role of playing Bhagat Singh’s fiancé and Amrita agreed.Besides ‘Legend Of Bhagat Singh’ Amrita Rao was also seen in Ishq Vishq, Masti and Main Hoon Na. Fortunately for her, all the films became were a hit. Her latest release is Deewar with Akshaye Khanna. The past few weeks I have been on a rollercoaster promoting the film in Ahmedbad, Delhi and other place. I haven't met Shahid for months. The last time I met Shahid was almost two months back when I sho
