Don’t they have Anwar’s dna at the crime scence?
    2008-07-21 17:15:00
alhaj | Everbody is calling for Anwar’s dna. Don’t they have any kind or trace of dna at the crime scence? If they don’t have any at the crime scence, why the need of Anwar’s dna? To match blood with blood, there must first be blood established at the crime scence. So no doubt the opposition leader, Anwar Ibrahim refused his dna be sampled from him. It’s not the question of Anwar refusing

Unemployment, crime are HIV fodder in Northeast India
    2008-07-03 11:01:00
New Delhi: Northeast India generally brings to mind two diametrically opposite images — the first, a picturesque region abundant in forest and rivers, and the second, a terrain bludgeoned by bullets, bombs and bloodshed. Geographically knitted to the mainland by a slender land chain called the Chicken’s Neck, the northeast has always remained a politically isolated mass. Inhabited by heterogeneous tribes and sub-tribes of Aryan and Mongoloid origins, the region has been rocked for decades by insurgency, with several terrorist groups either demanding sovereignty or separate statehood. Unabated violence has exacerbated under-development in the region and has fostered socio-economic problems such as unemployment, rising crime rates and drug addiction. The last of the three has, in turn, fostered another alarming situation that the northeast is now being forced to deal with — a rapidly increasing HIV-infected/AIDS population. How serious is the problem? The first case of an intravenous

Boris Johnson - tackling crime as the new mayor
    2008-05-04 08:16:48
So Boris Johnson is the new mayor of London. If anything, it is a refreshing change to the years of power Ken Livingstone enjoyed. Or not enjoyed. The Evening Standard went to town in the run-up to the elections, with Andrew Gilligan leading the way on a number of damaging exposes on the mayor. Now it is up to Johnson to get rid of any remaining cobwebs that may remain and settle down in an important term as London Mayor. The Olympics is around the corner, crime has yet to be tackled in any shape or form and those bendy buses look a distant memory.

AG Mukasey's New Organized Crime Crackdown

Almost as soon as my last post on the transnational threat of cigarette smuggling was posted, several alert friends sent me the recent speech by Attorney General Michael Mukasey at CSIS, where he announced a new effort to understand and combat transnational criminal organizations. The initiative is long overdue. As Mukasey noted, the Organized Crime Council had not met for 15 years. Quite a feat, given the numerous and wide-ranging indications that organized criminal groups have steadily gained influence,...(read more)

    Crime and Misdemeanors in LA
    2008-04-23 05:32:11
Since this blog is really meant to be a discussion about celebrity real estate, we would normally leave a discussion about crime statistics to the fine folks over at Curbed LA or one of the other many real estate blogs focussed on life in LA. However, since there has been so much chatter and commentary on this blog over the last six months about crime levels and popo response time in the Hancock Park area, we thought we'd tackle the issue head on this morning. Some say the area is perfectly safe while others say it's a lawless ghetto where homeless people crap on your lawn and hooligans run wild and unchecked by the LAPD. So naturally, being the curious and nosy type that we are, we wanted to know...what are the real crime statistics?Your Mama, with the help of the always helpful Lucy Spillerguts, took to the internets and fidgeted and finagled with the LAPD Crime Map to look up reported crimes in the Hancock Park area over the last seven days, which is what the map above indicates. Malaysia 2008 Crime & Safety Report
    2008-04-22 05:44:00
Malaysia 2008 Crime & Safety ReportCrime & SafetyEast Asia / Pacific - Malaysia 9 Apr 2008 Overall Crime and Safety Situation The overall crime rate in Malaysia is medium and violent crime against expatriates is relatively uncommon. Most criminal activity directed against foreigners is limited to non-violent crimes such as petty theft, purse snatching, and credit card fraud. Residential break-ins occur and are becoming more frequent, but have not resulted in injuries to the occupants. As stated above, purse snatching is a frequently reported crime against expatriates and Malaysian citizens. The usual modus operandi (MO) is one or two males on a motorbike approaching the target from the rear and snatching a purse, handbag, or cell phone. This type of snatch and run tactic has even been executed by occupants leaning out of automobiles. The most common targets are women walking alongside a thoroughfare. These robberies occur at all hours, in front of witnesses, and even in upscale neighb

    Overpopulation = Poverty = Crime

I sternly believe that overpopulation is the cause of poverty. In the Philippines, the country where I grew up in, the population of the poor people outnumbers the rich and the working class. Filipinos has this old belief that the more children they have, the more number of people will work to take them out for poverty. Well I say that this notion is outrageous! Children are not there to make your life better, it is actually the other way around. It is parents who should work hard to prepare and

    Curry Crime.
    2008-04-20 14:27:00
April 21 ...Compared with, say, those of Charles Dickens, the stories of Arthur Conan Doyle are pretty minimalist in terms of food references. Charles Dickens’ stories with the food removed would be diminished indeed, but one could be forgiven for believing that food was of no importance at all to Sherlock Holmes. Unless the food is a clue towards solving a dastardly crime, of course. In Silver Blaze, Sherlock quickly realises that a mutton curry is crucial to solving the mystery of the disappearance of the favourite runner for the Wessex Cup, and the murder of its trainer. He explains to the ever-present Watson: “It was the first link in my chain of reasoning. Powdered opium is by no means tasteless. The flavour is not disagreeable, but it is perceptible. Were it mixed with any ordinary dish the eater would undoubtedly detect it and would probably eat no more. A curry was exactly the medium which would disguise this taste. By no possible supposition could this stranger, Fi

    Childrens Against Sexual Crime
    2008-03-12 07:28:00
We teach our children's, not to talk with strangers and don't make them to open the door for the strangers who they don't know . But we most of them are leaving the wide window (Not your house window its windows OS) open in their house. If childrens are using the Internet, then in some situations they are contacted by some strangers of diverse backgrounds, motives and moral outlook. But sad news was, these strangers can spoil our children via anonymous or deceitful identities.A survey in US shows that one in seven children are receiving sexual offers online when they are using their internet. Yet only 20 countries make owing or downloading child porno a crime. Child porno has also becoming a uglier and more horrifying in recent years. Websites that portray naked children in suggestive poses are considered mild and meek. Instead online users get to view a two-year-old toddler being raped, while crying out to stop the abuse. Eliot Spitzer's Greatest Crime

Eight U.S. soldiers were killed in bomb attacks in Iraq yesterday, but Mr. Spitzer has stolen the headlines. This week economist Joe Stiglitz has announced the war in Iraq will cost the U.S. people $3 trillion, but Eliot Spitzer's $5,000 dalliance gets more attention.Spitzer's hypocrisy has hurt his wife and children, but the loved ones of the 33,000 U.S. servicepeople killed or wounded in Iraq feel a hurt that won't be assuaged by a public apology which, in any case, will never come.Spitzer prosecutes-- and engages in!-- a crime that shouldn't be a crime, while the authors of this country's greatest crime in forty years will retire with pensions and a packed schedule of speaking engagements.Shame on him, shame on the media and shame on any one of us who allow him to dominate our thoughts for any more than his requisite 24 hours of infamy.Atom

Can You Identify The Criminals Who Carried Out This Hate Crime in a Southern California Jewish Center?
    2008-02-27 21:22:46
I am posting this highly detailed surveillance video due to the fact that our city leaders are presently searching for the perpetrators of a crime against a Jewish center as well as a private home that is located here in the San Fernando Valley. A $95,000.00 reward for the capture of these criminals is being offered and certainly this is an excellent way to get people involved in catching criminals on the loose. What I want to know is how much money will it take for us to stop our irrational bigotry that seems to be flourishing instead of waning? Believe me, if I could, I'd glady pay that price today. We desperately need a class in every school called, "Diversity: How to Peacefully Co-Exist with One Another." CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE VIDEOPractice non-violence in your lives. Do State-Run Lotteries Prevent Crime?
    2008-02-25 00:00:00
Illegal lotteries, known in some parts of the county as "numbers" or "policy," have not disappeared with the re-introduction of government-run lotteries in the 20th century. Since it is difficult to measure the incidence of an illegal activity, it's hard to say to what extent state-run lotteries have rid states of illegal lotteries. (Some may argue that privately run lotteries per se are not a problem unless they lead to other crimes.)Let's take a look at some anecdotal evidence from the pages of Lottery Post. In the past four months alone, the following headlines appeared on the Lottery Post website.  Have state-run lotteries abolished lottery-related crime? You be the judge. Contractors steal $70,000 in lottery prize money D.C. officials were told last year that lax enforcement of security procedures made it possible for a handful of contract employees to steal tens of thousands of dollars in lottery tickets and prize money, according to records released this

Click Picture To WatchYet another video to be used for recruitment by white supremacists. There was apparently a dispute because of the small walk way in this store. We all know how that went down, but I'll leave it to your imagination. As this white guy was paying for his merchandise he was surrounded by a group of young black people. They were continuing to yell things at him while he was at the counter until he was finally sucker punched by a punk coward.WCBSTV:The unbelievable images show a shopper just trying to pay up at a corner deli, when out of nowhere he is laid out with a haymaker that conjures memories of a young Mike Tyson.I don't know if it is more disturbing that the attack took place without any cries of this possibly being a hate crime, or the fact that the news seems so enamored with the way this guy was attacked. Why don't they use terms with a negative connotation like savage, cowardly, or vicious. Instead they use glorifying terms like comparing the attacker to

Crime wave has grip on New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS — The crime wave that hit New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina shows little sign of abating, more than two years after city officials said taming the outbreak was among their top priorities. The rates of killings and most types of property crime have kept pace with the city’s population increase, according to police records. [...]

DNA Technology Is Used As Tool For Crime Investigation
    2008-01-18 05:05:00
DNA isolated from the blood, hair, skin cells, etc is used to identify individuals. The difference in the sequence of the base pairs helps to detect the nature of the crime and the criminals.Forensic scientists scan 13 DNA regions and use the data to create a DNA profile of that individual. Some of the DNA technologies used in forensic investigations are; Restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFPL), PCR analysis, Mitochondrial DNA analysis, Y-chromosome analysis. The crime investigation scenario has tremendously changed with the arrival of DNA technology. The titles published under the National Institute of Science and Media have information on the latest applications of biotechnology and other branches of science.Joel Ball, is the lead author on biotechnology and various science subjects under the NISM name.

Ontem assisti a um crime contra a Humanidade benfiquista
    2008-01-13 08:09:00

    Call Center Crime
    2007-11-25 00:34:00
Haven't we all heard of things like these in our work environment? From petty theft to credit card fraud. Personally, I've witnessed some very serious ones in my lifetime. Like the one incident of credit card fraud by one of the agents in my account in one of the call centers I worked for.Being in a sales account, we were all exposed in vital credit card information of customers. This one agent had the guts to funnel funds from several customers' cards to his own Paypal account. His biggest mistake was he did the crime on his own workstation using his own computer name and password. The result? One week after funneling over $1000 dollars to his account, NBI agents and Police SWAT stormed our account floor to "pick-up" this dumb fraudster in the middle of of his call. The stupid part about the whole thing is: when he was asked why he funneled funds, he replied that he wanted to get into the call center business because he wanted to learn the ropes of outsourcing because he wanted to

Van Loo is one of Europe's newest weapons in the global fight against terrorism, drug trafficking and organized crime. A blind Sherlock Holmes whose disability allows him to pick up clues sighted detectives does not see.Van Loo, 36, who has been blind since birth, is one of six blind police officers in a pioneering unit specializing in transcribing and analyzing surveillance recordings in criminal investigations. He also speaks seven languages, including Russian and Arabic. The blind police unit, which became operational in June, originated after Van Thielen heard about a blind police officer in the Netherlands. Van Thielen was looking for ways to improve community outreach, and he hoped that blind people would prove more adept than the sighted at listening to surveillance recordings and interpreting them. But

Costa Rica Crime Rate - Lowest in Latin America Again
    2007-11-18 22:58:00
Crime is a factor that stays directly proportional to a growing urban settlement. This alone explains why Costa Rica has a very low crime rate. Most of the crime that takes place is typically petty theft. Violent crime is almost unheard of. Costa Rica is considered to be a very safe place inhabited by warm and friendly people.Even worldwide terrorism hasn’t posed a threat to Costa Rica. And though the crime rate has increased over the last 30 years, it is still positioned well below the level of other countries. The reason behind it is because of the growing urban settlement. But the smaller towns in Costa Rica have a crime rate that’s even lower than the meager occurrences in the comparatively larger cities. A certain population of Nicaraguans though, who formerly served in the military, find the local police an easy target, and so does a small number of violent bands that moved in from Colombia and Venezuela. However, their chief targets are banks and other financial organizations and not the common people living in Costa Rica. The government is working toward eradicating these groups and have taken care to stop illegal drug trafficking, which is guaranteed to pull down the rates even lower. The crime rate in the land of Costa Rica is quite low when compared it with the other countries in Latin America. People, especially tourists, hardly ever fall victim. In spite of this, standard precautions always apply so keep these few safety measures in mind. Never leave luggage unattended, don’t wear too much jewelry, keep important documentation in secure places, and do not carry excess amounts of cash and avoid the dangerous areas. Now, a crime free society is every person’s dream but sadly, it doesn’t happen everywhere in the world. Therefore, the peace and tranquility one can obtain here certainly make it inviting to those who wish to retire or invest in foreign land.by David Lovendahl, Costa Vista Marketing

    Hate Crime
    2007-10-14 19:30:00
(Pictured) The Halloween display in question.ב' בחשון תשס"חJason of The Wild Hunt Blog asks the question about a case in Massachusetts, home to the infamous Salem witch trials:Hate Crime? Is displaying a gallows-hung witch in Massachusetts a religious hate crime? That is the accusation by Kelly Lynch towards a home-owner in Chicopee. According to Lynch, the display is a personal offense to religious Witchcraft and not an innocent Halloween display. The Chicopee witch explains:To many, it's an innocent Halloween decoration, but for Kelly Lynch it's offensive. That's why when she saw the life-like witch hanging in someones front yard she went straight to the home owner's door."He told me to lighten up, it was a Halloween decoration, I know it's his constitutional right, but I want it down. To make that your only decoration...it's kind of odd, " stresses Lynch. But the owner will do no such thing. His neighbor says he has every intention of keeping it up.It's offensive to me as well. More importantly, the homeowner is engaging in a hate crime.Leaving the witch hanging, now that it has been directly and unequivocably brought to the homeowner's attention that it is hateful and intimidating to witches, brings to light the maliciousness hidden in the original intent.I think the homeowner would like to string you up Kelly, in the place of his Halloween decoration.

    Crime superior
    2007-09-27 19:25:37
Trote é crime!!!ESSES DO VIDEO SERÃO OS FUTUROS MEDICOS DO BRASIL

Crime and Punishment in the Kitchen.
    2007-09-20 21:17:00
Today, September 21st … Benjamin Franklin recorded his experiences en route to Philadelphia aboard the Berkshire in 1726. A very interesting and instructive event happened on this day in that year. Wednesday, Sept. 21. - This morning our steward was brought to the geers and whipped, for making an extravagant use of flour in the puddings, and for several other misdemeanors. It is difficult to be sure of the exact nature of his crimes but let me tell you - the cook got off lightly compared to some of his colleagues in history. Mind you, some cooks’ crimes are rather larger in scale than being a bit heavy-handed with the flour: in a previous story we saw what havoc can be wreaked by a shipboard cook with a temper and a cleaver. Richard Roose, a cook in sixteenth century England was boiled to death in a large pot, having been found guilty of poisoning several members of the household of the Bishop of Rochester (and inadvertently several paupers who received the leftovers as alms) in 1532. The legislation which enabled this particularly gruesome execution was especially enacted and made retrospective for his case - presumably on the principle of making the punishment fit the crime. It seems likely, or at least possible, that poor Richard was the fall guy for one of the movers and shakers of the political and religious conflict of Henry VIII’s reign, as the probable intended victims were well and truly involved in it all.I am puzzled at how one can be “extravagant” in the use of flour to make puddings. The puddings would have been of the solid, stodgy, filling type made made to eke out the meat supply, and just as likely to have been “savoury” as “sweet”. Perhaps the "crime" was that there was too much flour and in relation to suet in his puddings and they were too dry? A common seaboard meal was sea-pie, which is something like a cross between a savoury suet pudding and a pot-pie – made with several layers of crust reminiscent of the various decks of a ship. But we have had a recipe for sea-pie before (two, actually, there is one in the cook-with-the-cleaver story too) – so what to give you today? I have chosen an entirely different sort of pudding – far too extravagant for seaboard life, but I am sure Ben Franklin would approve. It is from a famous cookbook of his time – John Nott’s Cooks’ and Confectioners’ Dictionary (1724), and is a sort of multiple cross between bread pudding, custard, and apple-pie. To Make an Italian Pudding.Beat half a score Eggs well with a Pint of Cream, add to them a Penny white Loaf grated, and a grated Nutmeg; mix them well together, then butter the Bottom of a Dish, and lay upon it half a score Pippins cut in slices, and a little Orange-peel, strew over them some fine Sugar, and pour on them half a Pint of Wine: Then put in your Pudding, lay over it a Puff-paste, and set it into the Oven, it will be done in half an Hour. Lay Paste also round the sides of the Dish. Monday’s Story … The Price of Cloves. Quotation for the Day … I seem to you cruel and too much addicted to gluttony, when I beat my cook for sending up a bad dinner. If that appears to you too trifling a cause, say for what cause you would have a cook flogged ?Marcus Valerius Martialis (Martial), First Century Roman poet.

The Clinton Crime Syndicate . . .

The Democrat Party is merely a large crime syndicate run by the Clintons. The head of this operation may finally be pursued legally. According to the WSJ, the justice department is actually pursuing the Hsu case , which means that the Paw family will also be included in the investigation. I think there are a lot of pissed off people at the JOD right now for a number of reasons, which may actually lead to a thorough inquiry. I'll bet it's real hard to get a flight to China this week as all these illegal Democrat donors try to whisk themselves home.Pathetically, Hsu posted bail of $2mil, which is a pimple on his ass when considering the donations he purported to have given. Unfortunately this case will probably end like all other Clinton criminal investigations, just like most Soprano family trials - with the heads of the family getting away scott free. The Clintons will walk and everyone else will flee to China or go to jail. The Chinese conspirators will simply join the likes of Kathl

    Crime by Night. William Clemens.
    2007-08-15 17:46:50
Jerome Cowan's detective in Crime by Night slides through the film soaked in bourbon. While the film's mystery isn't a bad one, perfect for a seventy minute running time,  the suggestions of off-screen actions are a lot more fun to think about. The detective, with his love interest secretary along (played well by Jane Wyman, who manages ditzy humor without coming off dumb) manages to find time to romance the hotel operator, get to know all the bar staff intimately, and generally just settle himself in to small town life, enough he doesn't seem alien to it when he's investigating in it. The film rarely deviates from the era's standard--we follow the detective, finding clues with him (not always getting to piece things together as quickly as he does, though all the neccesary information is actually presented to the audience in Crime by Night, it's so obvious), but the private life of the detective is--to a degree--kept from the audience. It's a different approach, especially s

Old habits die hard: A yellow cross fixed by German NATO to the door of a Serbian house to show that Christians live there.Hiding Genocide in Kosovo: A Crime against God and Humanity by Iseult Henry. The American Council for Kosovo says this about the book:At a time when the Western powers -- foremost among them the United States -- prepare what they hope will be an endgame for their predetermined solution to the Serbian question, now comes a searing ray of truth that cuts through the fog of lies in which Kosovo has been shrouded. While Western policymakers (the U.S., EU, UN, NATO, OSCE, etc.) delude themselves that they are buying the goodwill of the Muslim world by the sacrifice of a small Christian community in Kosovo, the perpetrators know this is yet another step toward Islamic dominance of all Europe. This is a struggle for the soul and future not just for Kosovo, not just for Serbia, but for an entire continent.

An American Warning - The Democrats Want Crime
    2007-07-24 01:52:00
Democrats on the House/Senate conference committee have dropped from the Homeland Security bill the provision that would protect "John Doe" citizens from lawsuits when they report suspicious behavior to the authorities.   Not a whole lot to say but "What the hell are they thinking?"   Look, organizations like America's Most Wanted, Crime Stoppers, and let’s say... THE POLICE... have all asked for people to report suspicious behavior... but now the democrats don't want you to. Furthermore... they would subject you to lawsuits if you do and you're wrong.   Anyone in their right mind would know that if you see something stupid going on, you report and let the officials sort it out. If the person who called was wrong... at least they were looking out for their neighborhood or what have you. They should in no way be liable. That's common sense. They are just doing their job as an American citizen. Besides... who would want to sue someone else for reporting such behavio

If it weren't for the fact that this guy is probably mentally unbalanced I'd be declaring it International Religious Intolerance Month.Murder suspect says he was doing God's workA Cypress man charged in the death of a Southwest Airlines flight attendant said Saturday that he was doing God's work when he went to a Montrose-area bar last month, hunting for a gay man to kill. "I believe I'm Elijah, called by God to be a prophet," said 26-year-old Terry Mark Mangum, charged with murder June 11. " ... I believe with all my heart that I was doing the right thing." Interviewed in the Brazoria County Jail Saturday morning, Mangum said he feels no remorse for killing 46-year-old Kenneth Cummings Jr., whom relatives described as a "loving" son who never forgot a holiday and a devoted uncle who had set up college funds for his niece and nephew. Motiveless Crime Announcements
    2007-07-18 06:27:00
It has been some time since I made a post that addressed the readers of Motiveless Crime. The site shut down for about a day due to some personal issues but as you can see it is back up and in full swing. But prosecutors called him "extremely resourceful" when he smuggled millions of packs of cigarettes into the U.S. from China and distributed them nationwide. In 2005 he pled guilty and went to prison. What drove Mr. Abraham, and what encourages others like him, is the simple arithmetic of cigarette tax evasion. Today a pack of brand name cigarettes can be had for as little as $1.25 in low-tax jurisdictions around the world. Due mostly to federal, state and local taxes, the U.S. price for that same pack re
