With the Harper government stating an extension of the mission by two years in the Throne Speech and daring the rest of the parties in Parliament to force an election, the Prime Minister now sits firmly in the driver’s seat. Canadian’s don’t want an election, and they certainly aren’t so opposed to our involvement overseas that it is a burning election issue. | The IT Crowd | | 2007-09-17 07:09:11 | | No hace mucho vi el primer capitulo de la serie The IT Crowd, del Channel 4 británico, simplemente me partí viendola.La serie cuenta las peripecias de 3 miembros del departamento de IT (informatica) de las Industrias Reynholm, en Londres.Como se nos dice en el canal de stage6:"Moss y Roy, los dos técnicos, son tildados de socialmente ineptos y Geeks/empollones. Desprecian a la compañía por depender de sus conocimientos técnologicos, aunque a su vez son despreciados por el resto de sus compañeros. La desesperación de Roy se refleja en sus técnicas para ignorar el teléfono con la esperanza que deje de sonar, y por el uso de mensajes pregrabados acerca de las situaciones más usuales ("¿Has probado con encenderlo y apagarlo?", "¿Estas seguro que está enchufado?"). En cambio, los amplios y complejos conocimientos de Moss para todas las cuestiones técnicas se reflejan en unas sugerencias tan exactas como indescifrables, aunque demuestra una incapacidad total para enfrentarse a temas tan cotidianos como apagar un pequeño incendio o matar una araña.Jen, la nueva miembro del equipo, es afortunadamente una persona no técnica, aunque en su currículum ponga que tiene una "amplia experiencia trabajando con ordenadores". The berries of the "Asparagus Vine" in the picture are mostly green, except for one red berry near the center of the photo. This is another example of how just those little everyday things that we don't notice much can feature in some great photos.This photo has a slightly different composition to most of the photos I have posted recently. It's major "eye-grabber" is the red berry in the center, which stands out from the rest of the berries scattered over the picture. The vine's stems all lead downwards from the top of the picture, and help to "cement" the berries together. There’s a new way that’s come up to help solve perplexing business problems. With the power of the Internet, you can reach out to a great number of people at any particular point in time. Smart companies are now using this to solve complex problems that their internal staff while very bright people are just not able to find the solution for.
This is called crowd solving.
For example, Proctor & Gamble need to improve its margins on toothpaste. They need to find a way to get more toothpaste into the tube. Now, Proctor had plenty of extremely sharp engineers, some of the best minds in the business. They were given the challenge, but could not come up with a particular solution. However, here’s the creative thing that they did.

| Charity Event Draws a Crowd | | 2007-06-15 20:44:29 | | I always enjoy being out photographing special events. This is doubly true when it’s an event like “Imagine a Cure for Leukemia” (previous post), which is aimed at raising both awareness of such causes, and financial support for further research.
The night was HUGE - a great turn out - everyone was in a great mood, and the energy in the Capitol theatre was a buzz. These first few shots are of the silent Auction that was held. There was some awesome stuff in there - including 4 signed hockey jerseys!
As you can see, the winner of the Sundin jersey was STOKED!!
Big Hair played for most of the night - they were AWESOME. They do wall to wall 80’s music. I was in my element!
Toward the end of the night, everyone got dairy queen icecreams which created some cool photoops for a studio setup we did.
