Prices are low and land rights are being addressed but is it safe to buy in Northern Cyprus?
    2008-07-10 15:52:00
Cyprus has long been a favourite for British holiday home owners and now, after decades of uncertainty, the north of the island is becoming as popular as the south. It is 34 years since the Turkish invasion of the northern third of the island. But today, people can easily move between the Turkish north and the Greek south, and there are relatively few signs of conflict – indeed, the line dividing the communities is itself a tourist attraction. Although the north remains less affluent than the south, all areas have seen major infrastructural improvements as their economies have grown in recent years.Northern Cyprus covers 3,300 sq km and is widely regarded as less developed and more naturally beautiful than the south of the island, with a profusion of beaches and mountain tracks. It has a rich history, is well known for its flora and fauna and notably boasts 38 species of orchid.

Ex-minister slams Cyprus government over price rises
    2008-06-22 02:57:00
Keravnos who served as Finance Minister in the government of Tassos Papadopoulos and is a senior member of the centre-left DIKO party is widely credited for bringing state-finances under control. He says oil prices have been rising for several years now and that is nothing new. Other factors causing price increases are high real estate prices feeding into higher rentals, the professional services (lawyers, doctors, plumbers, electricians and others) continuing to over-charge customers while underestimating their income and as always, the retailers greed in jacking up prices more than warranted.“Until now they (government of Christofias) have been feeding the public political explanations, but it no effective measure have been taken to curtail the problem.”

Cyprus property market booming with the Euro
    2008-04-12 02:42:00
Many factors are helping to fuel the popularity of the Cyprus property market, notwithstanding the adoption of the Euro at the beginning of the year, cheap flights and a booming tourist industry make this an ideal investment location, says Gary Clayton of Principal International, one of the UK’s leading overseas property investment companies.Since joining the European Union, property prices have steadily risen but a government official for the country believes that with its stable socio economic environment, the adoption of the Euro will see prices rocket. Now is a good time to buy for investors, says Principal International, before prices become too uncompetitive.Cyprus has much to offer, its state of the art infrastructure and highly qualified labour force make the country an attractive proposition for international businesses. In fact it has been said that Cyprus is becoming an international business hub between Europe, Africa and Asia.

Cyprus Car Hire Shopping Around Will Pay
    2008-04-11 23:04:57
Cyprus car hire is available in every town and even some villages, and considering the amount of tourists that visit every year and take up Cyprus car hire, you can see it is a big business. Taking this into account, you can see why you can hire a vehicle from as little as 11 per day, now that is excellent value for money. During the summer months the weather in Cyprus can be stiflingly hot so air conditioning is worth the extra investment, the only problem with this is that whilst you are lovely and cool in your rental car in Cyprus, once you leave the car you certainly feel the heat, but you can always pop back in to cool off again! If you are into the off road driving scene you would obviously be better off with a jeep and make sure you take up their extra cover for sump and windscreen insurance as you'll likely need this. Of roading in your jeep can be a dirty and dusty experience but great fun especially on some of the mountain tracks but be warned some of them are extremely steep

Sylikiotis wants to halt Cyprus house price increases
    2008-04-01 15:42:00
The election campaign slogan of newly elected President Demitris Christofias for a “just society” passes mainly through his Ministry, given the fact that the majority of the laws which regulate internal administration has to do with issues the Minister of Interior deals with.Neoklis Sylikiotis returns to the “Ministry of the Citizen”, as he calls the Interior Ministry, under the Presidency of Demetris Christofias, something that gives him the opportunity and the time to finish the work he started some years ago, as he says, in combination with a new government programme, aiming to put a human face to politics. In an interview with CNA, he declares his dedication to put a halt to rising house prices, places at the top of his priority list activities which express the social policy of the new government with housing programs for the support of refugees, low income families and young couples.“

A Cyprus car rental makes perfect sense if you want to see more of this beautiful Mediterranean Island at your own pace. Organized Cyprus trips are all very well but if you want the freedom to please yourself Cyprus car rental is definitely the way to go. If you plan ahead and collect your car from the airport you will make an immediate saving on the cost of your transfer from there to your holiday accommodation too. Israel is not banning the possibility of having a business relationship with northern Cyprus, said the Israeli diplomat. But he emphasized that there was no official Israeli involvement in the establishment of the trade office and that it would be like those opened in other countries.
