| Dale Earnhardt Day | | 2008-04-29 09:11:43 | | My heart broke, right along with the rest of the racing world on that Sunday. I can still hear the words "We have lost Dale Earnhardt" ringing in my head like a bad dream. The Intimidator dead? That has to be wrong, but it wasn't wrong. What a tragic loss. I have been a dedicated fan of Dale's for as long as I can remember. I remember watching him when he drove the yellow and blue Wrangler car, I remember the battles between he and Rusty. I remember how happy he was when Dale Jr. won his first race in NASCAR and I will never forget the day he won the Daytona 500. Even though life has gone on without Dale Sr. in it, NASCAR will never be the same nor will I.Happy Birthday Dale, we miss you dearly.

When NASCAR gets together with the food industry, the results can be very interesting. Take NASCAR-branded meat, for instance. | | Crew chief Ryan Pemberton leaves Dale Earnhardt Inc. | | 2007-12-11 22:57:20 | | CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Crew chief Ryan Pemberton has left Dale Earnhardt Inc., and the team said Doug Richert will replace him beginning Wednesday. Pemberton was scheduled to lead the No. 8 Chevrolet that will be co-driven next season by Mark Martin and Aric Almirola. ``Ryan is immensely talented and has always been sought-after,'' DEI general manager John Story said Tuesday. ``He's now chosen to pursue some of those opportunities and we wish him nothing but the best.'' Pemberton spent eight seasons with MB2 Motorsports, which was bought by Bobby Ginn before last season. Ginn then sold the team to DEI, and Pemberton continued with the organization after the acquisition. Richert became the youngest crew chief to win a Cup championship when he did so as a 20-year-old with the late Dale Earnhardt in 1980. He spent most of last season with Brian Vickers at startup Red Bull Racing, but was let go late in the year.

| | US star Dale Earnhardt Jr guest at Phillip Island | | 2007-12-04 00:35:58 | | Stephen OttleyDecember 03, 2007 12:00amAMERICA'S biggest motor sport star, Dale Earnhardt Jr, was the guest of honour at Phillip Island yesterday.Earnhardt is the most popular driver in NASCAR racing and earns more money than the entire V8 Supercar field combined.Sports Illustrated magazine estimated his 2007 earnings at more than $50 million. But unlike the media circus that surrounded David Beckham's recent visit to Australia, Earnhardt was able to slip under the radar. The only people clamouring to meet the racing celebrity were the V8 Supercar drivers and team managers as he walked down pit lane. The 33-year-old is the son of Dale Earnhardt, NASCAR's answer to Peter Brock, and has won 17 races in his career including the 2004 Daytona 500.The American had a close look at the cars and was impressed with the technology and craftsmanship. "I didn't anticipate the cars to have so much preparation because they race them so hard," Earnhardt said.Having just signed a multi-million dollar deal with NASCAR's leading team, Hendrick Motorsport, Earnhardt is highly unlikely to quit any time soon but admitted he would like to try his hand at V8 Supercars."In a perfect world, I would come and race in the V8 series for a year and I would enjoy it," he said.Earnhardt was full of praise for Australian NASCAR star Marcos Ambrose, although he admitted some of the Tasmanian's former V8 Supercar rivals might not share the same high opinion."I think he's a good guy. There might be a few guys who raced against him who might have a different opinion," he laughed.Ambrose will compete in 12 Sprint Cup races next year and Earnhardt was confident he would be competitive. "I don't know that he'll face the same challenges that a rookie or a young guy would because he's been racing a long time," Earnhardt said. "He has all the tools he needs."

| | Dale Earnhardt Jr. is going into the bar business | | 2007-09-08 05:52:09 | | Racing's biggest star plans to open Whisky River, a bar and live-music venue, in uptown's new EpiCentre development this December."It's going to be a cool hangout," said Chris Epstein, a nightclub veteran in Charlotte who is partnering with Earnhardt, the majority owner. But don't expect Whisky River -- named for the bar at Earnhardt's house -- to look like a racing watering hole with NASCAR memorabilia strewn about. Rather, it will resemble a basement bar that anyone would enjoy hanging out in -- including Junior when he's in town, Epstein said. Think lots of wood and metal decorations, multiple TVs and a mechanical bull "with rides a bit rougher than those in a race car," according to a news release. As for food, think bar staples, such as chicken wings.Read more here.

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Dale Earnhardt Jr. will leave the company founded by his late father at the end of the year in a shake-up certain to ignite a bidding war for NASCAR’s most popular driver.
He told Dale Earnhardt Inc. on Thursday that he had decided to make the switch to another team when his contract expires, intent on going to a more competitive team.
This has been coming for quite some time, Dale Jr. and Teresa have been reported to have never gotten along and the death of Dale Earnhardt on February 18, 2001 has only aggravated matters more, as long as Dale Sr. was running things at DEI all was well in the business, but Teresa Earnhardt has alienated a lot of people, and when Dale Jr. goes, so goes her business, regardless of what she says…
Earnhardt had asked for 51 percent ownership of the team now run by his stepmother, Teresa. Negotiations on a contract extension began before the season and have been tense all along. Earnhardt’s | | By: TexasFred's | | |
