| So How Many Titles Have The Devil Rays Won? | | 2007-07-29 19:10:00 | | I was watching last night's Red Sox-Devil Rays game from St. Petersburg, a game the Sox won, 12-6 in 12 innings. In the second inning, J.D. Drew was at the plate, when I clearly heard a voice, which I was believe was that idiotic, obnoxious leatherlung who's made a small name for himself with all the moronic yelling he does at opposition players at the Tropicana Dome. (I couldn't for the life of me tell you his name, nor do I care.)He actually yelled words at the Red Sox to the effect of: "You know the Yankees are going to catch you!" and "You guys always choke!"I couldn't help but bust out laughing hearing that. So how many times has your team won a championship, buddy? Or better yet, how many times has your team not finished last in their history, pal?It also reminded me of the time back in 2004 when a group of Devil Rays fans were behind home plate during a Red Sox-Devil Rays game at the Trop and they all held up signs saying, "1918." The Marlins have won three of their last four games, and eight of their last 13. Today marks the final of three against the Devil Rays, the third of a six-game, seven-day homestand against Tampa Bay (1-1) and Cleveland (3g), which includes an off day tomorrow. The Marlins finished an 11-game trip (7-4 record) to Chicago (3-0), Milwaukee (1-3), Atlanta (3-1) on Wednesday. Following this homestand, the Fish will take a six-game trip to Kansas City (June 15-17) and Chicago-AL (June 18-20).
Interleague Fun: The Marlins are 4-1 (1-1 home) this season and are 100-73 (56-32 home) all-time against the AL. Their .578 win % in Interleague is tops among NL teams, third-best in MLB: Yankees 106-73 .592, Athletics 107-74 .591, Marlins 100-73 .578, and White Sox 101-79 .561.
