    Living With Dignity
    2008-08-24 21:10:00
I slept at about 2am last night, after I had finished ‘pouring my emotions‘, my thoughts…. everything that just come to the mind. Bliss I Found I had so much to write about my trip to my ‘mother school’, Boon Lay Secondary School(BLiSS), and the whole day, what I had seen and learned…. and yesterday, I managed [...]

A patient's search for dignity at Baystate Medical Center
    2008-08-05 14:19:15
I just spent the last three days as a patient at Baystate Medical Center. Suffice it to say I will live. I don't fault the medical care offered there-- much of it is excellent. (Only one mistake-- I hope-- and one near-mistake in my case.) But in the eleven and a half hours it took to me to get from the emergency room to a room of my own, I witnessed or experienced many different varieties of injury to the human spirit. My first stop is a chair right next to the security guards' office directly opposite the ambulance entrance. The guard on duty is a hefty blonde named that someone calls Kel.. Ambulance services and fire and police departments from surrounding communities pass through those doors and there is much colleagial mingling.A young woman comes through the ambulance entrance accompanied by a police officer. She's been crying very hard, her face is red and she has a tissue pressed to her eyes. The guard says to two colleagues, "Bet she's headed for the crisis unit. 'I hate

Human Dignity and the Sanctity of Life
    2008-06-20 13:44:00
John McCain believes Roe v. Wade is a flawed decision that must be overturned, and as president he will nominate judges who understand that courts should not be in the business of legislating from the bench. Constitutional balance would be restored by the reversal of Roe v. Wade, returning the abortion question to the individual states. The difficult issue of abortion should not be decided by judicial fiat. However, the reversal of Roe v. Wade represents only one step in the long path toward ending abortion. Once the question is returned to the states, the fight for life will be one of courage and compassion - the courage of a pregnant mother to bring her child into the world and the compassion of civil society to meet her needs and those of her newborn baby. The pro-life movement has done tremendous work in building and reinforcing the infrastructure of civil society by strengthening community and neighborhood organizations that provide critical services to pregnant mothers in need. Travel With Dignity
    2008-06-15 03:39:38
I've been putting the packing activity off forever until the last minute. I have piled everything I know I am taking home in the bedroom corner for days, but every time I wanted to start, I just couldn't be bothered. Plus I've got zillion things to do in the last minute, as usual. This comes from someone who claims that she's organized. D'oh. But finally I've done it. I finished it a couple of hours a go, and I'm ready for flying back home at tomorrow's first flight. Since this time is special because I'm having a do in August, I come back with so many things I buy from here. I pray that Indonesian custom wouldn't check my luggage, because along 6 pieces of paper napkins with tartan motif and the fabric from curtain leftover which I plan to make tiebacks out of it, I have too many things they would consider strange. Like two handbags but almost non-existent clothes. Yeah, yeah, I'm weird.Since the airport and airline security are tightened more than ever, I reluctantly went to check o

The Dignity of Women and the Error of Feminism
    2008-01-21 23:05:10
Modern wisdom tells us that the differences between the sexes do not matter; males and females have interchangeable roles. But our roles are not interchangeable because if this is the case, then the human person is reduced to functional roles such as worker, consumer, etc. We must realize that our sex is a natural specificity inscribed in the depth of our being. We must also respect biology, because in doing so we respect God himself, and protect ourselves from error. One of these errors is feminism. Ironically, feminism hurts women most. Motherhood and virginity, the loftiest values in which women find their vocation, are under attack in our masculine society because they are neither productive nor efficient. Women are being convinced that in order to 'liberate' themselves, they must abandon these values and masculinize themselves by working for profit and earthly power. I believe this to be a crucial message for all in the modern world; not only for women, but for men too,

    The Dignity of Women
    2007-08-16 04:51:57
In our society, the dignity of women is being eroded at an alarming rate. I first read Mulieris Dignitatem several years ago. If you aren't familiar, it's an Apostolic Letter by Pope John Paul II on the dignity of women. And it's a message we need to hear! Along those lines, the Pontifical Council for the Laity has launched a new site: The Dignity of Women. It's been 20 years since Mulieris Dignitatem was released, so this site is geared toward exploring Pope John Paul II's teaching in the document. It's worth taking a look at - and I recommend reading the actual document, which isn't that long. I was alerted to this by another interesting blog, Feminine-genius, which is pretty impressive. Go check it out as well. God bless, Jay

    Dignity
    2007-01-26 09:26:00
It's early days but by golly, there's only gone and been two new blog posting in a week! Now if only the band could have employed such language, our dignity might have remained intact and I wouldn't have to be issuing a parental advisory notice due to the explicit language detailed in the latest Podcast, 'can'tcountcast', named as such in that we appear to have jumped from number 8 to 10 without mention of the famous number 9.So this is a film to demonstrate all the hard work that goes in to putting on a big show. This is for everyone who was at the Hoxton Square bar, 16th Dec (there were a LOT of you) and particularly the young lady with the scream. You can get all previous and all future Podcasts by subscribing or for the first time you can view the Podcast right here, more youtube stuff. And yes, there IS some bad language so Grandma, don't watch this one, but hopefully some good music. Enjoy...
