    A Dinosaur in Chicago’s O’Hare Airport
    2008-07-11 05:30:25
Curious grand gestures in public space: Chicago’s O’Hare Airport has this huge replica of a Brachiosaurus skeleton, a plant-eating dinosaur that apparently lived 150 million years ago. I’d love to meet the airport officials who approved this. Fascinating for its extreme absurdity — and its innovative use of the atrium’s verticality. Bloomberg, we need one of these [...]

    Dinosaur Baby Bedding
    2008-07-07 11:03:34
When it comes to beddings for boys, parents usually go with the predictable — sports themes, airplanes, trains and automobiles themes and the like. Rarely do we see a bedding theme inspired by Dinosaurs such as this one from Argington. What I like about this set is that it’s not in its usual color of [...]

    Dinosaur Tail
    2008-05-30 09:28:33
IMG_1964Originally uploaded by jenamberautumnSo my girlfriend doesn't know it yet, but for graduation I made her a tail. We have an inside joke where we call her (hername)-saur, and make videos and write articles on lj about this mysterious being's living habits which mysteriously mirror a college students'.Random note: the color of my girlfriend's hair is the same color as the dark pink.So she graduated a couple of weeks ago, and since then I've been working on her graduation gift. Having looked on the internet and not finding ANY patterns for crocheting a dinosaur tail (there were a few knit ones I came across, but I did not find them remarkable) I decided to make my own.I started from the tip, and worked in a spiral, increasing by two every third stitch and alternating with a row of no increase, repeat. About a fourth of the way up, this changed to increase every fifth single crochet for a round and then two rounds of single crochet, repeat. Finally, around where the third spike

Now a Brigham Young University study identifies a culprit: ancient insects that munched on dinosaur bones. read more

Scientists find dinosaur extinction clues in fat
    2008-04-27 09:47:27
A team of researchers at New York Medical College has discovered why birds, unlike mammals, lack a tissue that is specialized to generate heat. A paper published April 21, 2008 in the online peer-reviewed journal BMC Biology contains the surprising implication that the same lack of heat-generating tissue may have contributed to the extinction of dinosaurs. read more

Monday night on Bill O’Rilley there was a paleontologist by the name of Terry Gates who was one of the guests on his show and he was dealing with (to me) a highly absurd question, “Did Global Warming killed the Dinosaurs?” According to Victor Veloci of Dino Squad fame, “No, Certainly not. Dinosaur at Palladium shopping center
    2008-01-20 17:00:23
There were dinosaurs in Palladium. But I'd like to tell you something different. See the Coffeeheaven shop? It's a Central European answer to Starbucks. And you know what, we're getting the first Starbucks in Prague now. It'll be under Prague castle, near Charles bridge. Really a great location. They are planning the second shop for summer I think. It is going to be close to this Coffeeheaven - also in Palladium shopping center.

    Insects caused dinosaur extinction?
    2008-01-04 02:20:00
A new study by scientists has suggested that dinosaurs might have been wiped off the face off the Earth by biting, disease-carrying insects over a long period of time.According to the study, the rise and evolution of insects, especially the slow-but-overwhelming threat posed by new disease carriers, could have been an important contributor to the demise of the dinosaurs. The evidence for this emerging threat has been captured in almost lifelike-detail in the form of various insects preserved in amber that date to the time when dinosaurs disappeared. As a semi-precious gem that first begins to form as sap oozing from a tree, amber has the unique ability to trap very small animals or other materials and – as a natural embalming agent – display them in nearly perfect, three-dimensional form millions of years later."We found in the gut of one biting insect, preserved in amber from that era, the pathogen that causes leishmania – a serious disease still today, one that can infect both re

VACUMM MOUTH DINOSAUR - NEW ENTRY IN THE DINOSAUR FAMILY
    2007-11-23 12:35:02
In the Sahara desert, there was a kind of dinosaur which contained a vacumm shaped jaw. The creature was 30-feet in hieght, and stayed nearly close the ground, this is the similarity between it and the modern days vacumm. It had over 50 columns of teeth along the front edge of its jaw, and survived 110 million years ago.__________________________________________Nigersaurus taqueti, the creature made the Paleontologists amazed completely. The Paleontologist, Paul Sereno of National Geographic stated “The biggest eureka moment was when I was sitting at the desk with this jaw. I was sitting down just looking at it and saw a groove and … realized that all the teeth were up front.” It's trace in ancient age wasfound in the 1990s.The most amazing fact about this creature is that it survived against almost all theories and proofs. According to Sereno it has teeth in front which is very odd looking as there no food is processed. Researchersnow construct the entire skull and skeleton, studying the inside the skull with help of the CT scan.An Online Guide

A dinosaur Victrola list’ning to Buck Owens
    2007-07-13 06:09:06
There is a very fine piece of soul searching at “An American Front Porch.” It echoes in an odd way my own path to where I am politically. I won’t quote the really good stuff toward the bottom, but here is teaser. I am obviously a pro-liberty person. Many of you have lumped me into the Libertarian Party proper. Maybe I am, maybe I’m not. That’s not the point. There are major problems in all parties…Communist collectivism with the Democrats, Corporate Federalism in the Republican party, and the practicalities of the Libertarian platform. No human thought line is perfect. That’s kind of the point isn’t it? To promote discussion between extremes? : Utopia, Planet Earth, and Politics The title of the post, so as not to be thought of as stealing, is from Creedence.
