| Lame Political Discourse: Stupid Criticism | | 2008-08-16 19:04:00 | | Politicians must have thick skin. The very nature of their profession exposes all politicians to ridicule, confrontation, and scrutiny on a daily basis. If you take offense to every single barb thrown your way, you won't survive the campaign trail and the media circuit. However, there comes a point when criticism becomes so petty, unfounded, or downright stupid that the criticizers end up aiding their targets.Last week, Barack Obama took a break from the campaign trail and spent a week in Hawaii. In addition to taking a break from his presidential campaign, he wanted to take care of his ailing grandmother who lives there. And even though Chicago may be Obama's political home base, Hawaii is his true home, as he was born in Honolulu.Nevertheless, political analysts dissected his vacation destination. ABC's Cokie Roberts criticized Obama's Hawaii vacation as "foreign" and "exotic.""[G]oing off this week to a vacation in Hawaii does not make any sense whatsoever. | | Lame Political Discourse: Tire Gauges | | 2008-08-08 12:21:00 | | Fresh off of the controversy surrounding Paris Hilton in a John McCain attack ad, the latest episode of political nonsense stems from Barack Obama's suggestion that Americans ensure that their tires are properly inflated and that their cars are properly maintained so that they can improve their gas mileage and help use less oil. John McCain and Republicans seized on this comment by claiming it was indicative of Obama's naivete by being overly simplistic. McCain even turned this into a fundraising tool by showing the image of a tire gauge with the misleading term "Obama Energy Plan" written on it. In response, Obama labeled the attacks and ridicule as ignorant.Properly inflating your tires and getting regular tune-ups is obviously not a comprehensive solution to our nation's energy crisis. However, Barack Obama is not saying that it is despite Republicans' outright lies to the contrary. | | The beautiful discourse by the Mainstream Media. | | 2008-05-13 20:52:00 | | I have the T.V. tuned into MSNBC as I see the projection for Hillary Clinton winning yet again. She is projected to win West Virginia. I never do understand these projections, why they even exist. I could understand if individuals conducted projections but for MSM to basically announce a winner and throw in the word of " a projection " is very stupid. When a station ( maybe this is their intention ) announces a projection, I can't help but take into account that maybe this would discourage voters who haven't voted just yet. Maybe people who haven't voted just yet are getting the numbers on their cellphones or some other devices then changing their votes. There have been times ( especially during this race ) where entrance polls don't add up to exit polls and vice versa. Maybe I am over analyzing but it seems very coincidental. Personally, I don't care for polls, especially those polls that take place by calling a voters home who must have a land line, and have voted before which consis | | By: The Pissed Off Citizen | | |

| The Pennsylvanian Primaries & The Media's Discourse. | | 2008-04-23 19:19:00 | | So the main story today was about the Pennsylvanian primary between Barack Obama & Hillary Clinton. If this was going to be the end for Hillary or would she continue. Looks like she is sticking around for a few more weeks. She managed to grab 54.6% to Obamas 46.4%, that's just wonderful, isn't it?There was barely any to no reporting on the Republican race, I mean why would they, it's only Ron Paul, John McCain & Huckabee? It seems that on the Republican end, Mike Huckabee got around 12% of the votes while Ron Paul got 16%.What does this mean? It means that Republicans are really torn and really do not want John McCain to represent them in the general election, considering that 12% of the voters voted for a guy who has been out of the race for a few months now.Ron Paul on the other hand, is going all the way to the convention. If John's advisors are giving him notes from what the mainstream media is telling him, he is laughing up the battle between Hillary & Obama. The tactics being used, n | | By: The Pissed Off Citizen | | |
| | Lame Political Discourse: Part 3 | | 2008-04-06 13:56:00 | | Until the Pennsylvania primaries two weeks from now, there is not much new going on in the political world. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are still fighting each other tooth and nail, John McCain is still trying to cobble together Republican support, and the pundits keep poring over fluctuating polls measuring head-to-head general election matchups. A consequence of these slow news periods is that it is easier for the media to focus on trivial or mundane matters. However, these dry periods also pose a risk for politicians because the magnifying glass of a larger news hole makes it easier for them to be caught flatfooted and for their warts to be exposed. The latest political foul ball comes from John McCain, who took offense to a comment liberal talk show host Ed Schultz made prior to a Barack Obama campaign event last Friday. Schultz called McCain a warmonger while he was ginning up the crowd prior to Obama's appearance. John McCain called upon Obama to repudiate the remarks:"M | | By: The 7-10 | | |
| | Lame Political Discourse: Part 2 | | 2007-11-18 19:01:00 | | I had written about the absurdity of our political dialgue back in September when South Carolina Republican Party Chairman Katon Dawson accused Hillary Clinton of wanting to "surrender to the terrorists." An excellent piece written this weekend by David Broder brings up this the idea of the sorry state of our political dialogue once again, but he addresses it from a different angle. This column was about the missed opportunities from the Democratic debate last week. No, he's not talking about the opportunities Barack Obama missed to score political points on Hillary Clinton or how Chris Dodd could have broken out more. Instead, the loser of these missed opportunities, Broder argues, is the American people. And the media are complicit in this dereliction of civic responsibility.Let me explain. In his column, Broder talked about the driver's licenses for illegal immigrants question that has been the subject of much discussion among politicos since Hillary got bogged down by it tw | | By: The 7-10 | | |

| Discourse of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen, the Sufi Master | | 2007-11-12 06:04:29 | | “The things that change are not our real life. Within us there is another body, another beauty. It belongs to that Ray of Light which never changes. We must discover how to mingle with it and become one with that unchanging thing. We must realize and understand this treasure of truth. That is why we have come to the world." ~ M. R. Bawa Muhaiyaddeen from his book Questions of Life, Answers of Wisdom Vol. 1the above quote reminded me Jesus Christ's saying from the Gnostic Gospel of Thomas where he utter from his blessed lips: "Anyone here with ears had better listen! There is light within a person of light, and it shines on the whole world. If it does not shine, his whole world is dark ... If they say to you, 'Where have you come from?' say to them, 'We have come from the Light, from the place where the Light came into being by Itself, established Itself, and appeared in their image.'.
