    Jason Taylor: Now an ex-Dolphin
    2008-07-20 23:15:06
It's official.  Jason Taylor is now an ex-Dolphin.  That has a strange ring to it, doesn't it?  Though I guess it's no more weird than thinking of Zach Thomas as an ex-Dolphin as well. But, really, nobody here should be surprised about this.  The only thing that is surprising is how quickly talks ignited and a deal got done following the Redskins' loss of one of their starting defensive ends. The bottom line here is that this is a move that had to be done.  And I think Bill Parcells and Jeff Ireland need to be commended.  Remember, many people thought the Dolphins were crazy for asking for a 2nd round pick in exchange for a  soon-to-be 34 year old defensive end.  Some believed the Dolphins blew it by not taking less - like a 3rd rounder - from a team like Tampa Bay or Jacksonville on draft weekend.  But Parcells and Ireland held out.  They were hoping for a team to get desperate enough to make a move for Taylor and offer up what the Dol

    Tuesday Dolphin Nuggets
    2008-06-16 23:30:04
We have definitely began that slow period in the football season.  It's "the calm before the storm," that time between the end of OTAs and the beginning of training camp.  It's a miserable time for football fans, that's for sure.  But I'll try to do what I can to pass the time.  So here are some Dolphin nuggets: DEADLINE: JULY 1Well, it's not exactly a "hard" deadline or anything, but it would be great news.  Jeff Ireland has said on Monday that he wants to get the 3 remaining unsigned draft picks signed to deals by July 1st.  This would definitely be newsworthy if the Dolphins can pull this off because, most of the time, a team won't have all their picks signed until mid-July at the earliest. The great thing about this is that there really isn't any reason why this won't get done.  The Dolphins obviously already have their 1st round pick locked into a deal.  Chad Henne has said that he wants to be in camp on time so that he can battle for the

Jason Taylor:  Football Can "Suck It"Alright, so maybe JT didn't exactly say that.  But you have to imagine that's what Bill Parcells is thinking upon the announcement that Jason will be taking part in a charity golf event in Iowa on May 28.  Now, sure, it's for charity.  And that's a great thing and always has been one of the great things about Taylor.  He's always looking to take part in charity events or give back to the community. But, at some point, doesn't Taylor actually have to show up in Davie and become an active part of this football team again?  As it stands now, Taylor is committed to Dancing With the Stars until he either wins or is eliminated.  Should Jason reach the finals of the competition (if you want to call it that), then he'll be in Los Angeles until May 20.  This golf commitment of his is on May 28.  In between, on May 21 to be exact, the next rounds of OTAs (organized team activities) begin in Davie.  So thoug

    McCown is a Dolphin
    2008-02-29 15:41:00
Now this move I'm not entirely sure about. Heck, I would have gone with Cote (and I never go with Cote) and taken David Carr at a minimum contract if you wanted a backup QB. Josh McCown isn't a great player, but he is good enough that the Dolphins front office might have the option of starting him. Rather, he isn't so bad that he deserves to be stashed on the bench for eternity even if Beck struggles. That isn't a good thing. I want to see John Beck out there, and I don't want the team to panic and send McCown in there because Beck isn't doing well and because Josh isn't entirely inept. I wanted either a rookie QB to be the backup and compete, or just sign a completely useless guy that won't create a QB controversy. We can't waste more time having our draft picks sitting on the bench. If we see McCown as the starter in Week 1, then you can throw your NFL schedules in the garbage and expect another 4 win season at best. He might be an average backup (though making 3 mil a year is pretty n

Huizenga sells 50% of Dolphins & Dolphin Stadium
    2008-02-22 14:44:37
Owner Wayne Huizenga has announced today that he reached a deal to sell 50% of the Dolphins, Dolphin Stadium, and the land around the stadium to Stephen Ross. Ross is the chairman of the Related Companies, a company that deals with international real estate development. Here's what Wayne says of the transaction: "I have always said that I wanted to bring in a partner, and I can't think of anyone more appropriate than Steve. He has unbridled enthusiasm and I couldn't feel better about the future than I do with Steve as my partner and Bill Parcells running football operations." And here is Ross's first public comments about this: "Having grown up in South Florida, Dolphins football has been a lifetime passion for me. I am energized by this opportunity and look forward to being able to once again watch the Dolphins win a Super Bowl alongside all the other loyal Dolphin fans." This move doesn't mean much right now to the Dolphins, though. Wayne is still the principle owner of

    ABC Wednesday - Dolphin
    2008-02-13 06:10:53
ABC Wednesday – D is for DolphinIf you are here for Wordless Wednesday scroll down one post, please.Short post toady. These are some Dolphin photos I took in Las Vegas in 2006. Here is a link to the best photo of the bunch. I swear this particular Dolphin knew I had a camera.D is also for dog. Last night one of my dogs had to have her spleen removed since there was bleeding tumor on it. Of course last night was one of the worst weather nights we have had around here all winter. After deciding on doing the surgery we needed to have some blood for a transfusion and couldn’t get any. Lucky Molly’s sister is a healthy 70 pound Border Collie and was able to give enough blood to have the operation. They aren’t really sisters but do lover each other deeply so it was nice to see Ruby helping her out. The surgery went well but there is still a good chance she may die. We had to transfer her to the emergency vet (so there someone watching her all night) for observation at 10 o’clock l

Swim With The Dolphin In Discovery Cove
    2008-02-01 23:11:00
When I see dolphins makes me feel so happy and makes me wanted to jump, since they are look cute and lovable. One time, my husband and I went to “Discovery Cove.” We did swim with the dolphin and kissed, play a little bit and it was fun. I never touched a dolphin before since in my country we do not have a big Aquarium unlike where I live right now, we are kind of near in Orlando which I can see and touch dolphins like in SeaWorld or in Discovery Cove. My husband and I had a great time swimming with the dolphin but that time we had an instructor with us and she taught us how the dolphin can behave and kiss the person or she taught us some signs. I wanted to swim with the dolphins again. It was an incredible experienced I had in there, one of my unforgettable moment.

HEAD COACH SEARCH UPDATE We talked yesterday about this rumor making waves that the Dolphins have already offered Tony Sparano the head coaching job and that he will accept the offer once the Cowboys' season is over.  Of course, for two main reasons, this would be illegal.  One, it would mean the Dolphins simply blew off the "Rooney Rule."  And two, it's against the rules to offer a job to somebody whose team is still playing.  Regardless, I've been told that this is actually common practice.  It just rarely ever receives this kind of attention. Well, ProFootballTalk adds more fuel to this fire.  They are reporting that Sparano is already beginning to line up his staff for Miami: As Fins football poobah Bill Parcells insists that he hasn't offered the team's vacant head-coaching position to Cowboys assistant Tony Sparano, given that to do so before the Cowboys' season ends would be a clear violation of league rules, we've gotten an anonymous tip in

Dolphin Nuggets: QB Talk; Offseason Look
    2007-12-12 23:01:07
More QB Talk So now we now that it will be Cleo Lemon starting on Sunday.  But that's not very surprising to me.  In fact, I've been hearing from various sources that Cam Cameron wanted to keep John Beck on the bench all year and let him learn.  However, that changed when some of the veteran defensive players starting calling for Beck to play due to how well John was performing on the scout team.  Then when he got the chance to split reps with Cleo, John was outperforming Cleo, making the calls for Beck even more distinct.  I'm also hearing from sources that there may have very well been pressure put on Cam by upper management to start Beck rather than sit him down the entire season.  And if that is the case, then it's very understandable as to why Cam has decided to go with Cleo.  I may not personally agree with it, but I can now understand it better.   And very quickly, I just wanted to do a simple comparison of these 2 QBs and how efficien

Had Lots Of Fun Swimming With The Dolphin
    2007-10-20 23:47:00
My husband and I went Discovery Cove, I had lots of fun here, and we come here during my birthday. The price to get in here is somewhat expensive $$, but you will not regret if you like to swim with the dolphin and to do snorkel. In addition, they have also some interesting to do in here and you will not be get bored, besides the food is included, snacks and drinks too and you will get admission for SeaWorld, it is not bad at all. The customer service was excellent. It was always my dream to swim with the dolphin and it came true as we come here and I did swim with the dolphin and kissed too. :) When we were here, we did snorkel. The water was cold but it was okay, because I wore a wetsuit and it is fun to swim with the fishes with different colors. I never saw a huge stingray before and this is the only place where I saw big stingrays, it was amazing and I did touch some small stingrays’ too. We had great time in Discovery Cove.

Dolphin species might not be extinct
    2007-08-29 18:57:00
The baiji or white flag dolphin survived for millions of years but was declared effectively extinct in December after a fruitless six-week search of its Yangtze River habitat. The official Xinhua News Agency reported that a man in the central province of Anhui saw and shot footage of a "big white animal" in the Yangtze river on Aug. 19. The Chinese Academy of Sciences has confirmed that the animal in the footage was a white flag dolphin, it said.

Dolphin Matter: Trent Green is OK With Scrambled Eggs, Mrs. Green is Not
    2007-06-28 19:02:43
Some Dolphins bits to keep you in the loop on a wet Thursday… Quarterback Trent Green, speaking on The Dan Patrick Show on 760 (WEFL-AM) Wednesday, said Jason Taylor’s comments in a recent Sports Illustrated story upset his wife. “She was more upset than I was,” Green said of his wife, Julie, “so I told her, over the course of an interview that could go a few hours, things are pieced together, you get caught up in the emotion or your adrenaline gets going and you’re talking about a topic … I defended Jason a little bit because this was done before I was traded, so maybe he felt compelled to defend Daunte [Culpepper] or the situation the Dolphins were in, so a lot of different scenarios play into it.” The hate-crime charges against a Davie man involved in a road-rage incident with Taylor were reduced in a plea deal that resulted in a year’s probation and a fine. Redmond Charles Burns, 25, pled out to resisting arrest without v

    Some Dolphin Nuggets
    2007-06-28 07:01:33
Here's a few things I thought I'd throw out there for your reading pleasure: QUINN IS A BITCH There's a good article by Andrew Abramson in the Palm Beach Post about Brady Quinn and the fact that his draft day slide still bothers him: But Quinn, in town for the NFL's rookie symposium at PGA National, wore a Cleveland Browns shirt. He said he was stunned when the Dolphins passed over him and instead drafted Ohio State receiver Ted Ginn Jr. with the ninth pick in the NFL Draft. "At that point we pretty much thought it was a done deal," Quinn said. Quinn said Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis had talked with the Dolphins, and was led to believe Miami would select Quinn if he was available. "That was something said to (Weis by the Dolphins)," Quinn said. Weis and Dolphins officials were unavailable for comment Tuesday, but Quinn said he's come to terms with being drafted No. 22 overall - far below his projected status. The Dolphins elected to go with Ginn, before drafting quarterback John

    Jojo the Dolphin
    2007-06-06 08:00:00
Turks & Caicos does have an official mascot, Jojo the dolphin. Jojo has been around these islands for about 40 years now, and is one of the only dolphins ever seen to choose to bond with humans and live amongst them.I have seen entire threads on travel sites devoted to the "myth" of Jojo. I saw Jojo for the first time when we first moved here on my friend Dave's boat, the Atabeyra. Lo and behold, we were on the same boat Monday night for a glow worms cruise and we saw Jojo, his new life partner Flojo, and their baby dolphin Mojo!Tags: Atabeyra, Living In Caribbean, Jojo the dolphin, reiki, pilates, lynda lippin, caribbean, turks, caicos, turks and caicos, providenciales, energy, healing, fitness, exercise

    Dolphin Notes
    2007-05-30 14:44:29
Some early morning Dolphin news to get your day going… Dolphins re-signed QB Cleo Lemon to a one-year, $1.3 million contract. The sides had been working on a multi-year deal and still could reach one before or during the season. Lemon has lined up as Miami’s first-team quarterback at early workouts but probably won’t keep the job with a Trent Green trade expected to happen before training camp. More likely, Lemon will be viewed as a backup for rookie John Beck in 2008 and possibly beyond. Chris Chambers has transitioned from a “Z” receiver in old coordinator Mike Mularkey’s offense to an “X” in new coach Cam Cameron’s scheme. He will frequently line up on the less-crowded side of the formations and is expected to exploit some mismatches with his long speed. This could lead to less catches overall, but more big plays. Cameron says Chambers is “progressing” in the new role after having a down year in 2006. Ted Gin

Saturday Dolphin Buzz: Rookie’s Signed and Trent Green Update
    2007-05-26 18:23:36
Good morning Dolphin fans. Here are some good Dolphin bits for you to chew on… The evolving and revolving Dolphins offensive line took another spin when coach Cam Cameron announced incumbent starting center Rex Hadnot is now the starting right guard. Cam Cameron has given Chris Liwienski the starting nod at left guard after a brief competition with Dan Stevenson. Liwienski, 31, came in as an unrestricted free agent from the Cardinals in March. He was a key member of the Vikings’ line that protected quarterback Daunte Culpepper from 2000-04 when he earned his three Pro Bowl berths. Dolphins coach Cam Cameron indicated Friday that if Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Trent Green were to join the team, that wouldn’t necessarily mean Daunte Culpepper would immediately leave. The NFL Network’s Jim Fassel reported Friday that the Dolphins have upped their offer for Trent Green to a conditional sixth-round pick. The Chiefs have been holding out for a fourth-r

    Dolphin Plane in KC???
    2007-05-21 22:19:16
Update [2007-5-21 22:57:14 by Phinatic]: ESPN Insider, is reporting that there is no progress in talks between the Dolphins and the Chiefs. Trent Green's agent Jim Steiner said of Green that "he's extremely frustrated and the frustration is turning to anger." [END UPDATE] There are various rumors running rampant around the internet message boards saying that a Miami Dolphins' plane has landed today in Kansas City.  For what, who knows?  But we can all speculate.  You'll remember the last time we heard of a Dolphins' plane in another city, it came back with Joey Porter.  So one could only assume this has to do with Trent Green, but that's just me assuming. And we all know what happens when you assume...   Most of these reports stem from either a report on ESPN 810 in KC or from 101 The Fox.  Here are some of the links to the message boards where this rumor is making the rounds: FinHeaven Chiefs Planet Scout.com Chiefs Coalition

    Monday Focus: Dolphin Chatter
    2007-05-21 16:50:16
Time for some weekly Dolphin news. I figured since The Dude has been MIA I’ll keep you sort of in tune and on time with some Phin chatter and news. Here is what we got for ya… Jason Allen said he spent too much time last season worrying about where to be on the field. The guesswork has been removed. Allen can now focus on his natural position, cornerback. ”It takes a huge load off of him and allows him to go out and be the athlete that he is,” Dolphins cornerback Travis Daniels said. As for the new secondary philosophy, Allen calls it ”black and white” compared to Saban’s defense, which “had a lot of gray areas.” That’s great news from our boy Jason Allen who I felt was a complete waste of a draft pick last season. I figured Nick Saban’s obsession for SCC players ruined yet another high draft pick. I look forward to seeing Jason out with the starters this season. Dolphins starting strong safety Yeremiah Bell

    All-Time Favorite Dolphin Update
    2007-05-17 21:37:48
Group 9 voting has ended.  Here are the results for who you wanted to see eliminated: Troy Drayton: 49% Daryl Gardener: 19% Keith Byars: 12% Olindo Mare: 11% Bob Kuchenberg: 4% Patrick Surtain: 4% Zach Thomas: 1% Based on these results, Troy Drayton and Daryl Gardener have been eliminated.  I'm most surprised by this group's voting more so than any other group.  I'm surprised to see Mare only getting 11% of the vote.  I thought a lot of Dolphin fans really disliked him.  I'm als surprised Kuchenberg was more disliked following the comments he had about the Dolphins during last season, questioning the team's heart.  But I guess Dolphin fans didn't hold a grudge. Either way, voting for group 10 has begun to the left.  This is the final group for round 1.  Following this group, we will begin the 2nd chance voting, allowing fans to vote one of the eliminated players back into the competition.  Among those who were eliminated already ar
