| | Evaluating a Domestic Solar Hot Water System | | 2008-06-12 19:58:22 | | Top 5 things to evaluate when choosing a Domestic Solar Hot Water system (SDHW)With the price of energy skyrocketing, many people are looking into ways to reduce their energy use and thus expenses. Solar systems, particularly SDHW systems are an excellent way to do just that. SDHW systems are often less expensive than their cousins, photovoltaic systems, and generate more energy per square foot of roof space. SDHW systems work well in any climate in the US. Department of EnergyLike any renewable energy resource, there are a few considerations:1. Solar resource. In order for a homeowner to get their money’s worth, a good southern exposure that is un-shaded between the hours of 9am to 3pm every day of the year is required. Some defused sunlight, such as through a deciduous tree without leaves, is tolerable but it will cut down on the amount of energy received. These difficulties can often be overcome by installing slightly larger solar collectors. A complete solar analysis with | | By: Helpful Advice for Home Construction Improvement | | |

| | Domestic God(dess) | | 2008-05-16 11:12:10 | | Cooking is something - I can say this with confidence - that many Indonesians don't master. Generally we are spoiled rotten by our family who can afford maids (or sometimes maid and cook), and by the widely available good and cheap food on every corner in Indonesia. Because of this, some people never visit their own kitchen, or have more than one (one for display, one for pantry, and one for the maids who do all the cooking and where the real work presents. Seriously, this is true), or live merely by eating out or deliveries. It makes sense, anyway, that if you only need to pay USD 20.00 for a delicious main course in 5-star hotels, or much less in nice restaurants, why bother to cook?Since Indonesians are spoiled all the way, it's no wonder that few of us understand which knife to use for cutting meat and which one is for veggies. Horrible stories like burned toast or even burned boiled water, lack of kettle usage ability, and so on, becomes a constant joke in the country and abroad. | | By: Finally Woken | | |

| | International & Domestic Inverse/Bear Market ETFs | | 2008-01-18 08:26:00 | | If you think the markets will continue their decline, you might want to consider inverse ETFs. Some of these have become somewhat popular, so maybe you heard of them. But you probably haven't heard of all of them.Inverse ETFs use various derivatives to behave in the opposite way of their underlying indexes. For instance, the inverse Dow 30 ETF (DOG) does the opposite of what the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) does. For example, if the DJIA falls 1.5%, DOG will rise by about 1.5%. The correlation is not perfect, but it's close. An advantage of using inverse ETFs is that you can hold a short position while going long. In other words, it's like holding a regular stock, but you profit as if you have sold short. As there is no need for a margin account to do this, you are mitigating or eliminating some of the risks of selling short, which include losing more than your original investment. If you're a bit more risk tolerant, you might want to consider leveraged inverse ETFs. Like the regular inverse ETFs, they go up when their underlying index goes down, but they do so twice as much. So, for example, if the DJIA falls 1.5%, the leveraged inverse ETF (DXD) will go up about 3%.One last thing before the list. You should remember that inverse ETFs go down when the market goes up, and the leveraged ones go down twice as much. As over the long term the market tends to go up, it's probably best to use inverse ETFs to hedge your loses in rough times or for short term gains. Here's the list. Some of them are thinly traded, so be careful. The expense ratios on all these ETFs are .95%. Unsurprisingly, they are all at or near 52 week highs.Inverse International ETFsEurope Australia Far East (EFZ)Emerging Markets (EUM) Leveraged Inverse International ETFsFTSE/Xinhua China (FXP)Europe Australia Far East (EFU)Emerging Markets (EEV)Japan (EWV)Inverse Domestic Broad Indexes:Nasdaq-100 (PSQ) DJIA (DOG)S&P 500 (SH)S&P MidCap (MYY)S&P SmallCap (SBB)Russell2000 (RWM)L | | By: Slacker Wealth | | |

It is also considered the sum of value added at every stage of production (the intermediate stages) of all final goods and services produced within a country in a given period of time. The most common approach to measuring and understanding GDP is the expenditure method:GDP = consumption + investment + (government spending) + (exports − imports), or, GDP = C + I + G + (X-M) "Gross" means depreciation of capital stock is not included. With depreciation, with net investment instead of gross investment, it is the net domestic product. Consumption and investment in this equation are the expenditure on final goods and services. The exports minus imports part of the equation (often called cumulative exports) then adjusts this by subtracting the part of this expenditure not produced domestically (the imports), and adding back in domestic area (the exports). | | By: VIActin - investment opportunities | | |

| | An Examination in Domestic Economy. | | 2007-10-31 14:50:00 | | November 1 … Candidates wishing to apply for a Queen’s Scholarship to a training college in London in the mid-nineteenth century were required to sit for an examination to determine their eligibility. A student hoping for a scholarship to study Domestic Economy had to perform very successfully on a three hour paper which covered laundry work, health, needlework, and cookery. Those of you who rather fancy yourselves as good housekeepers – how would you fare with this exam paper from 1859? You have three hours. Remember to only answer one question from each section. Note: A First-Class Scholarship for male was worth ₤23 for the year, with a personal allowance of ₤4 (but as a mid-Victorian male it is unlikely that you would be sitting a Domestic Economy examination). For a female, a First-Class Scholarship was worth ₤17, with a personal allowance of ₤3. Puzzle: if you can already answer these questions, why do you need to go to College? | | Domestic Violence a review. | | 2007-10-04 12:29:48 | | God made Adam, then he made Eve. He made Adam smart and strong and he made Eve his obedient helper. The roles are very clearly defined by the Bible. The man has to hunt and has to protect the family. A woman has to take care of the children and his husband as well as keep the house clean. A women gets disciplined by her husband. Maybe she was a bitch, maybe she was a slut, maybe she did not fulfill her duties. It’s not our business to know. The husband knows and that should be good enough for us. It’s between him and her. A good woman will always submit to the will of her husband no matter what. The notion of the so called “domestic violence” or “domestic abuse” should not even come up, because in the majority of “abuse cases” we should trust the husband to use his good judgement to despense praise as well as punishment. It is not our right to get involved. The role of a woman in our society is outlined as follows: Be obedient, cheerful, | | By: IBIBO | | |

| | When Did I Become Domestic Exactly? | | 2007-08-13 14:00:44 | | I honestly don’t get it! I used to stay up all damn night, sleep till the afternoon, never cooked, rarely cleaned, and was just damn lazy! Then out pops this little baby and all of a sudden I become Martha Fucking Stewart! It’s not even 2 in the afternoon and I have been up since 7, did two loads of laundry, cooked dinner (homemade cabbage rolls, nothing frozen or anything… HOMEMADE!), vaccuumed, have fed Ethan 2 meals, played with the cats, did dishes, and found a moment to write on here! I shouldn’t even be awake yet! I so never knew that parenthood all of a sudden gave you the ability to cook, cuz I used to set carrots on fire (true story!) and ate out more often than anything else…. now I can make actual meals, not three frozen courses slammed toegther on a plate, but actual meals! It’s amazing to me!!!
Anyone else just all of a sudden become a domestic diva overnight? Or am I a freak of nature?? *LOL*

| | A Friday "Pick-me-up" for My Favorite Domestic Goddess... | | 2006-07-14 16:03:00 | | Recently, I was both intrigued and inspired by Ivonne's strawberry tiramisu at Cream Puffs in Venice. And since, I also always bake my own ladyfingers, use homemade whipped cream, and real mascarpone cheese in my desserts (and yes, mascarpone cheese can be homemade from cream cheese and heavy cream, although I often buy it), I agree with her sentiments, regarding the ubiquitous, manufactured versions of this wonderful dessert: it's enough to make you turn away, disheartened. But who can remain cross with such a delicious dessert as this?Autumn, my favorite domestic goddess, lives two thousand miles away from me. We are first cousins, but grew up like sisters. Despite the distance, for months, Autumn has wanted me to make tiramisu for The Suburban Apron Company. Motivated by Ivonne's strawberry tiramisu, and also because Autumn mentioned it again, a few days ago in a telephone conversation, I made her a chocalate tiramisu, recipe courtesy Ghirardelli (her favorite brand of chocolate). As | | By: The Suburban Apron Company | | |
