| Your Daily Dose of Schadenfreude: Rickey Bids Farewell to Bob Novak | | 2008-08-06 00:03:00 | | It has been an eventful couple of days for former CNN commentator Robert Novak. On July 23rd he ran over an eighty year old homeless man with his Corvette, yelled out “learn to read the signs asshole!” and then proceeded to drive away. And he would've completely gotten away scot-free if not for a one armed bicyclist who tossed his prosthetic arm at Novak as he sped away. (And who says that politics is boring? We don't even have to make a joke here, the situation speaks for itself!) We suppose that Novak, denied his "Crossfire" forum which had previously allowed him to harm all of America at once, decided to take to the streets and simply harm America one pedestrian at a time, GTA style. And that's an admirable thing: on "Crossfire" it was his job to hurt people. Now, he's clearly doing it for the sheer love of it. Good for him.And then, several days ago, Robert Novak suddenly retired from the Chicago Sun-Times after being diagnosed by his doctors as having a dire brain tumor (which... | | By: Riding With Rickey | | |

| Set Dose | | 2008-07-16 16:36:00 | | When i was young, Parry's confectioneries introduced this candy called coffee bite. I assume it is still very popular back home. Their advertisements were cool.. It always ended up with the punch line ...'......coffee... toffee.................and the argument continues' very smart indeed. If the punchline were to endorse the best amongst dose (that's the way we Kannadigas call Dosa!) then it would be ...'set dose...masale dose.....and the argument continues..Personally for me, the best of the... | | By: kannada cuisine | | |
| | Quickie:Your morning dose of Bruce Campbell | | 2008-07-09 09:41:28 | | Here's a short interview Bruce Campbell did with Entertainment Weekly via the good people over at Dread Central. It's mostly focused on Bruce's role as Ash in the Evil Dead, the 99,000 different versions of the movies that Anchor Bay has released on DVD and whether or not that rumored Evil Dead remake will ever come to fruition. What's semi-exciting is that Bruce implies that he'd be willing to reprise his role as Ash--as long as Raimi is willing to direct. Come on Bruce..just one more!Source:DreadCentralLinks:Bruce Campbell interview with EW

| | Are You Giving Your Child a Daily Dose of Toxins? | | 2008-05-21 11:11:00 | | Every day you're exposed to more than 123 chemicals through your skin and mouth- the vast majority of which have never been screened for safety by the FDA! They're even in your children's personal care products...seriously! When exposed to toxic chemicals, children are not miniature adults. Even small doses can affect their sensitive developing bodies, leaving them vulnerable to allergies and frequent bouts of infections, colds, and even behavior challenges. In the February 2008 issue of the journal "Pediatrics", it was reported for the first time that infants and children are exposed to toxins from everyday baby products, including shampoo, lotion, and powder. The Environmental Working Group (EWG), a non-profit research based, consumer advocacy organization based in Washington DC, reports that personal care products expose children to an average of 60 chemicals every day that they can breathe in or that absorb through their skin. EWG conducted product testing in partnership with Heal... | | By: Health Care Guide | | |

| | | A Daly Dose of Common Sense | | 2007-09-07 04:00:00 | | There's no shortage of anti-gun mayors in California, but the pro-gun mayors don't get a lot of attention. That's why I was pleased to hear the mayor of Daly City, California, recently say there's no reason to ban gun shows from the Cow Palace in Daly City. Mayor Maggie Gomez says that criminals will do whatever it takes to get a gun, and that "people who abide by the law shouldn't be punished as a result of someone's criminal activity." Compare that attitude with that of San Francisco...(read more)... | | By: An American Warning | | |

The President has two constitutional powers to stop wreck-less Democrats from their insistence on committing Unconstitutional Acts, and one is the power of the Veto.. If this does not stop them from ignoring Constitutional Limits on the Legislature, then the President will have no choice but to Exercise his OTHER Constitutional Power, and that is to Adjourn Congress till 2008 and send the Democrat crybabies home..(Article II, Section 3).
President Bush Vetos Dem’s UNCONSTITUTIONAL spending bill
Wait… the President is preventing unconstitutional acts? That is almost like protecting the constitution! Wow, that’s rich.
The author of the post cited swallowed a White House press release whole, and, well, the White House says that the Dems are trying something illegal. Must be so, right?
Finally, this legislation is unconstitutional because it purports to direct the conduct of the operations of the war in a way that infringes upon the powers vested in the Presidency by th... | | By: Hell's Handmaiden | | |
| | Settle Down Everybody (with a dose of Link Backs) | | 2007-03-22 11:56:50 | | Ah, screw it. Somebody hit the panic button. Freddie Garcia went down last night with an injury. After throwing just 32 pitches, none of which were very impressive, Garcia left the mound with Lynx trainer Shawn Fcasni.Update expected sometime today. With this news, Jon Lieber is expected to return to the starting rotation. But for those fourteen hours he was in the 'pen, they sure looked good, didn't they?Brett Myers got scratched from a start against the Braves. Instead, he'll throw to some AAA guys in his last spring training start. This adds to the speculation that Pop-Pop Manuel has tapped him for the Opening Day start, which happens to be against the Braves.Elsewhere:ACB, esq is predicting a Phillies NL East win. Of course, Mike predicted the Cubs coming out of the NL Central last year...so take it with a grain of salt.BS&S gives us some context. We still have five serviceable starting pitchers, and we still have a weak as a newborn baby bullpen. Oh, and our closer is still a question mark.Hey, Beer Man Remember yesterday when you were celebrating the fact that the Holy of Holies was calling for a Philly v. Boston World Series? Na, J.'s got us trying to remember how many turns in a noose. Jerk.Skeeter resprings our hope eternal...mostly with boobs, but he has a convincing argument. And DTDC has a new logo that they say will remain on the page in stark, silent protest until Gillick un-FUBAR's our bullpen.Word.Erik reminds us that we have problems that aren't on the mound. Take a read... There have been some rumblings about all of the strikeouts from Howard this spring. Burrell isn't really lighting anything up either. I'm pretty sure nobody's going to be complaining about anything Utley does unless he suggests a sing along or something, but in the case of spring training numbers the lack of complaints is justified.Carson...lay off the drugs, mang. Just say Mo... | | By: Ashburn Alley | | |
