What do you all out there think?For some context: I am currently reading a novel that has a lot of mistakes that not only should never have been written, but should have been picked up by the editor, the writer, and the copywriter. There were POV violations all over the place, flat characters, character development issues and contradictions, and even a sentence in the book where a huge line of zeros randomly appears in the middle of a word. The last I might be willing to pass to printing error, but that's pushing it.So, how much of that should have been addressed by the editor before the book went to the press? | Editors - An End Has A Start | | 2007-08-02 00:51:00 | | An End Has A Start offre sia tristezza che voglia di reagire a questa situazione, ma sempre in modo ragionato, mai pesante ed impulsivo. Qui gli echi di U2 sono ben ancorati al loro suono, e le chitarre potrebbero realmente sembrare quelle di The Edge e compagnia bella, ma loro la tristezza non sanno molto cosa è!Partiamo subito alla grandissima, Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors è stupenda, forse una fra le più belle canzoni dell'anno e apre il disco nella maniera migliore. La title-track è stupenda, la chitarra è tagliente e ricorda gli U2 dei primi anni -quelli di I Will Follow per intenderci- ma resta la voce del cantante a dare la chiara impronta Editors. Le riflessive The Weight Of The World e When Anger Shows sono ballate molto valide, i riferimenti agli U2 sono lampanti in Bones e Racing Rats e qui si torna a pestare sull'acceleratore. They use of their own articles as the showcase of a poorly dugg article.
It doesn’t need to be this way. One relatively painless enhancement digg could make to the site is to allow a badly submitted post to be edited - perhaps by a power digg user, who is given privileges to ‘fix’ bad submissions. Normal digg users can then continue to submit posts (because don’t get me wrong, I am very happy for any digg user to submit articles of ours), but at least there is some quality control over the submissions. There would only need to be a flag that the digg story has been edited, and a way for users to check the original submission wording - so that everything is transparent. Source Read Write Web
