May the day be blessed for you and your loved ones!Today we celebrated Eid in the blessed presence of Sidi Shaykh Muhammad Sa‘id al-Jamal at the beautiful Sufi Center at scenic Pope Valley, Northern California. This was part of the Shadhiliyya Hajj retreat. we experienced a wonderful night of khalwa (spiritual seclusion) with meditation, zikr and prayers guided by our beloved master we call Sidi. During the khalwa we did special supplication such as Dua al Jawharah (the Jewel Supplication) and chanting Divine names. The purpose of it is to purify and open the heart to the Greater Beloved and polishing the mirror of the heart.Descendant of the holy Prophet Muhammad, the guide Sidi Muhammad Sa‘id al-Jamal ar-Rifa‘i ash-Shadhuli is the Guide of the Shadhdhuliyyah Tariqah. | | Eid Mubarak | | 2007-10-12 16:52:37 | | Eid Mubarak to you all. Another Ramadan has ended. My earliest memories of Eid are that of getting up early in the morning, taking a bath, wear new clothes, matching jewellery, sandals and other accessories. Drink the sweetened milk (which I'd always complained about and never wanted to drink). My father would then give us the Eidi(an amount of money that is given on Eid) and every year it increased from what we had gotten previous year. If it didn't we'd ask for it to be increased. After that, my maternal uncles, aunts and their children visited us. After their visit, more often than not I accompanied my father and visit my aunt's place (who lived near us)Also, I and other girls from the building would go to other flats to wish everyone. We collected lots of Eidi this way. We would show off our new clothes to each other as well. After lunch, my siblings and I would all gather around in our parents' room to fill envelopes with Eidi for others and write the names. We also watched T.V. programs on Eid. After every few minutes, there would be some advertisement saying We wish you a very Happy Eid or Eid Mubarak. And in the evening we would go out to visit other people. The pattern changed as I grew older, but it was always about wearing the best clothes and visiting other people. At this particular moment, I'm here in Newcastle, U.K. with no relatives to visit. The friends I've made at work have gone to visit their relatives. And I'm sitting in front of the computer, writing about the old times. Homesickness and nostalgia, choose to strike on such occasions.Once again, Eid Mubarak to everyone out there. May this Eid brings happiness to you and your families. To your success
