You can utilize fundamental analysis and technical analysis.Technical analysis studies prices. Here, you want to analyze price movement history so that you can try to predict future prices.Fundamental analysis studies a nation's overall economic health. This can otherwise be termed as "big picture" analysis. You focus on the strength of a nation's economy and how it will affect the supply and demand of its currency. This, in turn, will affect the currency's price. As an example, let's say that the US economy is in a major positive trend. The economy is strong, so the dollar is expected to rise, and currency traders will invest great amounts in the dollar. This can be a self-fulfilling prophecy, so t | | By: forex

| No Sushi From The English Courtesan! | | 2008-06-28 08:07:09 | | Whoops! Due to user error and Blogger problems, this blog post appeared and then disappeared again on Saturday. Luckily Blogger and the English Courtesan have got it together now... ;-)The English Courtesan is a little busy this weekend so she thought she'd offer the readers a multiple choice quiz by way of a lazy blog post. This one is based on the doorhanger in the photo, which the English Courtesan purloined from the deliciously twisted NoMonet. Click on the picture to make it bigger! The English Courtesan sees rather a lot of hotel doorhangers these days so she was amused by the geisha girl variation on the 'do not disturb' theme. What better way to frighten off housekeeping than to demonstrate how disturbed you already are?The English Courtesan's best hotel doorhanger find was somewhere in Spain where 'no molestar' was correctly translated as 'do not disturb' but the reverse side had the more interesting translation of 'service me'. | The English Courtesan's Bright Field | | 2008-06-11 17:57:19 | | The English Courtesan wanted to share a favourite poem with the readers today. She likes fields, which are the topic of this poem, but today's blog post is about more than that. Like all good poems, The Bright Field by R.S. Thomas made the English Courtesan look at something a little differently today...This poem reminded the English Courtesan to look at the things she takes for granted and to treasure them. Sometimes there's salvation in the little things.Perhaps the English Courtesan will share the full story with the readers one day, but for now she'll just enjoy the poem and she hopes they will too. | Add Plain-English Calendar Entries to Outlook with Easy2Add | | 2008-06-09 21:45:00 | | Google Calendar users have the enviable option to create new events using plain English: “Lunch meeting with Joe tomorrow at Panera Bread,” for example. Freeware applet Easy2Add adds the same capability to Outlook, allowing you to create appointments just by typing a line of text. The applet sits in your Windows System Tray. Click it (or press Ctrl-Shift-A), then type your appointment details. Outlook doesn’t even have to be running. Hit Enter and you’re done! You also have the option of opening the newly created appointment so you can double-check the info and/or tweak the details. Easy2Add is free; it requires Outlook 2000 or later. Based on my quick tests, it’s a great little time-saver. [via Lifehacker]By Rick Broida

| English language overhaul | | 2008-06-08 16:49:00 | | There is currently talk about the biggest overhaul of the English language in our history. Many academics are aghast at the thought of scrapping silent letters and making words that are all pronounced the same for the first time ever being spelt the same.
English is a successful language because of its adaptability. It is constantly changing and growing and what a few years ago was considered poor education today is incorporated into the current dictionaries. Words like 'all right' can now be used as 'alright.'
This latest gem however is much more radical as it is being suggested that many words will be spelt differently.
If the English language reformists are genuine about this overhaul then surely it would make sense for the whole of the English speaking world to be included. Perhaps it is time for English to be unified so that, no matter which country we live in the language would truly be universal! | | By: Random Ramblings

| Bad English? They got famous! | | 2008-05-16 09:21:00 | | I guess we've seen worst videos and peculiar people get famous because of their unique style on TV. If you haven't seen these people embarrass themselves on TV, you've probably been hiding in the bushes or living under a rock. My recent favorite is the Ken Lee video where this girl sings her heart out doing a Mariah Carey piece "Can't live without you". There's the classic William Hung doing a Ricky Martin rendition of "She bangs". Always fun to watch. Our featured special person today gets a spot in this blog because he is reportedly a former call center agent who used to work for the Sony Xbox company. For those of you who works in call centers here in the Philippines, you might recognize the face. | English is "world class" and Chinese is "no class"? | | 2008-05-05 13:55:16 | | Well, at least that's what Ellouisa Chen from ST Forum thinks. Even though I have to say that most would probably NOT agree.
"It's Singapore, serve us in English first, please"
Ellouisa Chen wrote an article at ST Forum that caught quite a bit of attention.
She started off commenting how displeased she was with the fact that whenever she step into a retail boutique, she was always greeted by the sales assistants in Mandarin instead of English.
Although she claims that this isn't about speaking in Mandarin equals mediocre service. But "attacks" were somewhat made throughout the article.
Yes, English is the universal language. However, when you talk about Singapore, though having a mix of cultures, on an ratio, the majority of Chinese living here still surpasses those of which are foreign.
What's my point?

| Champions League - An English decision | | 2008-04-30 17:32:00 | | Drogba after scoring his first goal in Stanford Bridge against Liverpool. He was the man of matchIn the Premier League Manchester United and Chelsea are in a final duel to decide which of the clubs will win the trophy. Well, today we stood to know that Manchester United will find Chelsea in Moscow, next May 21, for the 2007/2008 Champions League final.Chelsea FC achieved their dream of a place in the UEFA Champions League final (and without Mourinho !) by overcoming Liverpool FC, tonight, after extra-time in a match full of emotion. Drogba scored two goals (1-0 and 3-1) and Gerrard, scoring a penalty shot, gave Chelsea advantage already in extra-time. Torres 64' (1-1) and Babel (2-3) scored for Liverpool but the «red devils» efforts came too late to meet their intentions. It was a thrilling game, with different periods of superiority by each team and with a controversial goal invalidated (which would have given Chelsea a 2-1 advantage) and a penalty shot two minutes after that.It wa | | By: Nothingandall | | |

| The English Courtesan Wants Your Captions! | | 2008-04-17 07:15:57 | | 'Overtired' said the English Courtesan's mother with an irritatingly meaningful mother-knows-best look. 'Am not!' roared the English Courtesan, leaping up from the sofa in a convincingly sprightly fashion and falling over own silly feet. All of that at 7pm before a large dinner and a long drive home through a Yorkshire blizzard. Oh dear. Spring may have sprung but early mornings plus late nights have made the English Courtesan a decidedly dull girl of late. So tonight she's getting a virtuously early night on her ownsome. So until the English Courtesan comes back to take them in hand, as it were, the readers are invited to play along with her caption competition. Here is an astoundingly poor photo of something fuzzy, taken as ever by the English Courtesan's own fair hand. The readers are invited to a) suggest what it might be and b) come up with an appropriate caption. The winner of the English Courtesan's caption competition will get a free...ah no, the English Courtesan doesn't do free | | By: Diary Of An English Courtesan | | |

| Do you know why English and Chinese languages affect dyslexia differently? | | 2008-04-14 09:46:43 | | Prof. Know Why answers for your general knowledge and awareness: Millions of children worldwide are affected by dyslexia, a language-based learning disability that can include problems in reading, spelling, writing and pronouncing words. According to the International Dyslexia Association, approximately 8 to 15 percent of the students worldwide (if not more) suffer from this problem. But very recently an interesting finding, reported in the online edition of Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, opened up a new angle to look at the problem on the whole - Dyslexia affects different parts of children's brains depending on whether they are raised reading English or Chinese. "This finding was very surprising to us. We had not ever thought that dyslexics' brains are different for children who read in English and Chinese," said lead author Li-Hai Tan, a professor of linguistics and brain and cognitive sciences at the University of Hong Kong. | Humpty Dumpty English! | | 2008-04-14 06:49:08 | | The English Language is getting a pounding of late. Does it matter? Are we troubled by the way English is used? The BBC are helping two words flourish in ways they should not be used. The first is REPOSSESSION. Only this morning on News24, Declan Curry was happily chatting about REPOSSESSIONS! Does he know what the word means? Probably yes, but his self-regulatory mechanism is failing to get him, and countless others, to use the word FORECLOSURE!Now a lot of Brits have a go at Americans for what they see as abuse of the language, but in many cases it is the Americans that are correct. A person or company can only repossess something that they already own. A car on hire purchase can be repossessed. A bank or building society does not own property in these cases. They are not landlords. By constantly repeating this word, REPOSSESSION, it conveys a message, on a drip-drip basis, that property ownership is in the hands of the banks. The Americans quite rightly speak of mortgage foreclosures | | By: A View from Middle England by Arden Forester | | |

| The English Courtesan's Six Word Memoir | | 2008-04-10 06:01:24 | | The English Courtesan was thrilled to be tagged by Tres Chère Juliette a few weeks ago to write a six word memoir. Those of the English Courtesan's readers who don't know Chère Juliette might like to know that she's the proud owner of the world's most enticing collection of saucy black and white photos... Juliette is also a lyrical writer and a practitioner of the midnight vices and she recently won the English Courtesan's prize for nice clean knickers. What better recommendation could there possibly be for a girl than to pass the English Courtesan's gym knicker inspection with such flying colours?Revenons à nos moutons...as well as liking Chère Juliette, the English Courtesan likes tags too as she's a bit of an overgrown child at heart. If the truth be told, the English Courtesan can be quite lazy and indolent and that's why she especially liked the idea of this tag. A six word memoir sounds like a nice easy blog post and the English Courtesan likes nice easy blog posts. Less time | | By: Diary Of An English Courtesan | | |

The superstructure of the Bonheur du jour sits beneath a coved top and is adorned by gilt metal escutcheons and beading and what appear to be caryatides (that’s naked ladies with big boobies to you, although the English Courtesan can’t be sure as the photo is a little fuzzy).
