| Spiritual Crisis of Prophet Muhammad | The experiences of 'Dark Night of the Soul' | | 2008-08-01 08:01:31 | | By the glorious morning light, and the still night when it covers with darkness.Your Lord has not forsaken you, nor has He become displeased, and verily the latter state is better for you than the former.- Ad Duha (The Morning Hours), 93:1-3, The QuranHave We not expanded for you the inner heart? and removed from you burden which weighed down your back?... Surely, with difficulty is ease.- Al Inshirah (The Expansion), 94:1,2, 5, The Quran1.There are couple of full chapters in Quran, Ad Duha (93) and Al Inshirah (94) that sheds light on Prophet Muhammad's own spiritual crisis during the time of his Prophetic Mission which can be identified as his experience of 'Dark Night of the Soul'. Worth mentioning that the expression Dark Night of the Soul is used to describe a phase in a person's spiritual life, a metaphor for a certain loneliness, crisis, feeling of being forsaken and desolation.Understandably, Holy Prophet Muhammad, may peace be upon him, even before he received revelation of Go | | By: Inspirations and Creative Thoughts | | |
| | | My Bitter Experiences with Hero Honda Passion Plus | | 2008-07-20 06:04:00 | | These are some of my experiences with Hero Honda Passion Plus Bike which i got 1 -1/2 years back. I drove around 27000Km on this bike and i have done 19 services on this bike till now from the Hero Honda Authorized Show Room.Passport:When ever we buy the bike from Hero Honda show room they recommend us to get the passport(Offered by Hero Honda) and they say that it will save us some amount of money for bike servicing. In reality I never got that passport book I already have paid around 200Rs for the same. I spoke to the show room people couple of times and got the reply that they have not received it from head office. So i conclude that it is waste to take passport service from Hero Honda.Servicing:You get very pathetic service from Hero Honda Showrooms, better avoid them. Try to find a good mechanic and sit with him for your bike service and make sure that he does all the required works for a particular service number. What Authorized Dealers are Doing:They charge you more amount of m | | By: Analog and Other Stuff | | |

| | More Reiki I Experiences | | 2008-07-09 12:55:00 | | Today I felt great--clear and energetic. I actually went to Yoga this morning and had a fabulous time. After yoga I came home, ate some fruit with plain yogurt, and decided to try the last two Reiki treatments that I am to complete before my Kundalini Reiki II attunement tomorrow afternoon-a Karmic Thread or relationship healing and a Situations healing (plus I did another self healing just because it seemed like a good idea).Once again I felt the energy strongly in my hands and heart, the healings each took about 6 minutes, and it was very clear to me when they were over (the energy ebbed dramatically). I am interested to see what kind of life changes come about from this work. I'll keep you posted! Tags: Reiki, kundalini reiki, healing, lynda lippin

| | Malaysia experiences economic slowdown | | 2008-01-02 19:13:00 | | Malaysia announced that it expects its economy to grow at only 5-6% this year, down from 7%. Economists attribute the slowdown to a decline in exports. As an emerging economy, Malaysia is heavily depend on exports (especially technology related exports) to fuel economic growth. However, a global decline in IT and technology spending has hit Malaysian exporters especially hard. Even with the artificially favorable exchange rate, maintained at value which experts estimate to be 20% below fair value, exports are declining. Malaysia will be forced to rely on the other factors of GDP if its economy is to grow. The first factor is government spending, which on outlays such as education, agriculture, and health care, looks to remain constant this year. Consumption, on the other hand should drive Malaysia's economy. Consumption and growth effect each other in a circular manner. As the economy grows, consumers are left with more disposable income which they typically use to purchase more goods and services. This increases aggregate demand which increases GDP growth, which then increases consumption, until the process diffuses. Finally, investment in Malaysia continues to strengthen. as speculators pour money into Malaysian capital markets. Such speculators anticipate a revaluation in the exchange rate, which Malaysia insists will not happen. Reuters reports:Bank Negara indicated speculation and short-term capital flows would not spark a change in currency policy. "The basis for any change would therefore be made on long-term structural considerations and not short-term movements in capital flows or transient shifts in exchange rate expectations," it said, adding that it could continue to absorb foreign inflows through money market operations. | | My early Journalism Experiences | | 2007-11-23 19:17:00 | | Journalism is something I enjoy all the time. Somehow I couldn’t pursue journalism as a career. As I shared my teenage investment experiences in an earlier post here, sharing some teenage journalism experiences in this post. Member of advisory board, Silicon Times.During engineering days I was writing technical articles for a Bangalore based IT magazine called Silicon Times. Now this magazine has died as the owner and Editor Mr Harsha has abandoned the magazine and has taken up a job with a MNC, most probably because returns from the print magazine were not decent enough. I was also member of advisory board for this magazine for few years and had to stop writing after my job training started. Few articles I wrote for Silicon Times are available here, though not in the precise format as it was published: Cyber Begging | Snooping | Unified Messaging Hannover Messe press conferenceI also did some freelancing for a person called Prasad who was running a not so popular Kannada fortnightly which had circulation of just few thousands, covering mainly south Bangalore city. This person had pass to enter press Gallery in Vidhana Soudha. Once he took me to a press conference organized by Hannover Messe (Hannover Fair, a popular exhibition event held in Hannover, Germany every year) organizing committee which was held in Lee Meridian Hotel, Bangalore sometime in late 2004/early 2005. That was my first and most significant press meet I ever attended. I was asked to join only few hours in advance and wasn’t given any briefing as to what this press meet is about, hence I couldn’t prepare well for the same. While most of the invitees were given only a notepad and pencil at the reception, I was given a big press kit as I gave my press card. This press kit had all details pertaining to Hanover Messe and Ligna (Ligna is a separate event focusing on Wood Industry), a CD full of high resolution photos. I have not discarded that press kit yet and believe it is lying somewhere in m | | By: eNidhi - A professional amateur | | |
| | My teenage investment experiences | | 2007-11-17 20:04:00 | | Recently I’ve started experimenting with shares. I’ll write about that later. I had a quest for saving since childhood, mainly because of my mother. Sharing some incidents/experience in this regard.A FD of 1000 Rupees (Sometimes in year 1996-97)I studied in a residential school, known as Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya. My parents used to visit me once a month (as per school regulations parents could visit only once a month-all those asects warrant another story altogether). While school used to take care of most of the generic arrangements-food, stay, textbooks, notebooks etc we had to spend money only when we needed things not provided by school. For this reason our parents use to leave a small amount with us so that we can get things if needed urgently through school office attendants who would get it from town for us. Our school was dealing with Hebri branch of Syndicate Bank (now I guess they have closed business with Syndicate Bank and have shifted account to some other bank, for a reason not officially known) and I managed to open a Savings Bank account there (I’m unable to recall if I opened a new account there or transferred my earlier account). One day, I took permission from Principal and went to town and entered the Bank. I had saved around 1000 Rs from my pocket money and wanted to open a fixed deposit. Bank staff simply refused to open a FD for such an amount. (Rs. 1000 may seem like a small amount today. But a decade ago, I’d saved that amount from my pocket money and that had taken around 9-12 months or more to accumulate that much). I was determined to get better returns on my savings and wanted to create an FD for an year (One year and 1 day to be precise, because interest rate was higher if the term was 'above one year') so that I get more than twice the interest I would otherwise get in savings bank account. But the bank staff was insisting Rs 1000 was too small to open a FD and suggested that let it continue in Savings account only. | | Sharing Life Experiences: Making time to write! | | 2007-10-05 04:46:00 | | I wonder if I will be able to write as often as I had originally envisioned. Of course, I don't want to start a blog and then have only the blog title sitting around for blog eternity. But my real motivation for blogging is because I want to share my life experiences as a traveling young scientist with other scientists and others from different walks of life. I won't be the first (nor the last) to say this — the blogosphere has transformed the way in which the world exchanges information, and hence the way the world works. Blogs serve us well. For scientists, blogs provide yet another avenue to network with one another and exchange opinions, findings, and experiences. Blogs are easy to set up and use, free of charge (free blog providers include Blogger, Xanga, WordPress, LiveJournal to name a few), offer flexibility in design and most importantly, the reach of the blogosphere is virtually unlimited. However, even with the ease of use, I am finding it difficult to write regularly. I am sure some of you feel the same way. After a long and hard day's work, it can be difficult to find the energy to blog, especially if you also have a family. I am now in the midst of attending Phd compulsory courses so this is an especially busy time for me as I work overtime to stay on schedule with my experiments. Another possible reason could be that I am not used to blogging. This is something that I think can be overcome. If you feel this way, just focus on what you wish to share, instead of the pressure that others might not like what you write. If you havn't tried blogging, maybe you should! You never know, you might just enjoy it. I do!

| | Cruise Ship Experiences-Tired Of The Same Old Ports? Go Small. | | 2007-09-11 23:14:41 | | While reading the local cruise and travel news this week, it dawned on me that there are an abundance of sales out there, and most are for ships that always go the “standard” ports, like San Juan, St. Thomas, Cozumel, or Jamaica. Even in the European markets, you basically have London, Copenhagen, Rome and Venice. Have you ever thought about one day visiting a small, quaint village instead of a large city with ruins or a bazaar resplendant with tee-shirts and marguaritas? Instead of a 120,000 ton super liner that takes an hour to dock, how about a river cruise along the Danube or paddle-wheeler down a North American river visiting towns you’ve only read about in history books? If this appeals to you, here are some ideas you may want to look into. | | By: Your Cruise Your Way Cruise Blog - Best of Cruise | | |

| | | Near-death experiences | | 2007-06-17 14:28:32 | | Today’s sermon was about the rich man and Lazarus. The guest speaker today made some interesting observations about the passage, but he mentioned near-death experiences in passing and how so many people see a “bright light.” I don’t know what today’s speaker thinks about near-death experiences, because he didn’t elaborate, but I am skeptical. If Christianity is true, then people who have rejected Christ should not be seeing the same thing that Christians do…and yet they do.
Secular researchers have suggested that it may just be a chemical reaction in the brain, and I tend to believe that it probably is. I don’t think these people are actually coming back from the afterlife. These people may have been pronounced dead, but did their souls actually leave their bodies? I don’t think so. We can see from the passage above that once someone dies there is no coming back. The rich man obviously would have done anything to go back and warn h | | By: Casey's Critical Thinking | | |
| | Reflecting Upon My Couchsurfing Experiences | | 2007-06-13 07:00:17 | | I first heard about CouchSurfing.com on the BootsnAll message boards last Summer. Unfortunately, it was around the same time the website crashed. For a short time, it seemed I would not have the opportunity to participate. And then user demand helped resurrect and relaunch the network. The Phoenix Story documents the series of events that lead to the project’s 2.0 version being launched after all of the previously accumulated user data (profiles) had been lost.
So with the network back up and running, I filled out my profile in December 2006, intent to explore the concept as both guest and host before my upcoming trip around the world. I waited, and waited some more. The Washington, DC message boards advertise a happy hour a month, however I’ve yet to make it to one.
