| Programs with .exe file extension do not open | | 2008-07-24 20:00:00 | | Recently, one of our work PCs was unable to execute any program ending in .exe. This can be very frustrating and immediately the client thought that the PC was infected with a virus. While this can happen, in this case, the program responsible for virus protection actually failed. During the day, our office was in the middle of receiving some SMS packages related to the new Symantec EndPoint Protection. While 99% of the PCs were upgraded successfully, the PC in question failed to upgrade properly. This then caused no application ending in .exe to open. I have never experienced this before! I was about to re-image the PC but that is the easy way out. If anyone knows me, I will troubleshoot an issue for hours if I have to. (In my opinion, that is the best way to learn). So began my troubleshooting of this .exe issue. First, I was shocked that I could not even get to the Internet, but then I thought, oh yeah, Internet Explorer is an application so of course it will not open either! | Is Lee Evans Worth a Lucrative Contract Extension? | | 2008-07-13 08:16:43 | | Evans looking to produce in contract year (Photo Source)
Note: The weekly "Sunday Football Vid" appears at the bottom of this post.
One of the hottest topics throughout the 2008 NFL off-season, at least in Buffalo, has been whether or not the Bills would attempt to re-sign their top wide receiver, Lee Evans, to a new contract extension. Evans, about to enter his fifth NFL season, will opt out of the final year of his rookie deal to become a free agent next off-season should a new deal not be reached with Buffalo.
While there have been whispers that Evans' agent and the Bills have, indeed, been working on a contract extension as recently as late this past week, a deal has not yet been reached. It's clear, however, that Evans is the most established and talented of Buffalo's receivers - and with no replacement in clear sight for the Bills, signing Evans long-term has been seen as imperative for the club's future success.
But one does wonder - especially when talking about po | | By: Buffalo Rumblings

| Paul Spicer Signs Contract Extension! | | 2008-06-27 15:06:55 | |
Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Paul Spicer signed a contract extension today. According to a league source and posted on Pro Football Talk, Spicer signed a two year, eight million dollar extension. Paul led the Jaguars in sacks last year and served as a leader on the field and in the locker room. There was some worry that Spicer could be a problem as he missed part of the Jaguars offseason training activities.
The Jaguars approach training camp with the idea of having Paul Spicer the clear starter at left defensive end and a position battle on the right side. The extension of Spicer is going to send a message to Reggie Hayward that if he's not 100% as we go into training camp, he could find himself off the team. The Jaguars have a crowded field on the defensive line, and if you work through the guys that are nearly assured roster spots, it's clear that someone like Hayward could be cut. | Contract Extension: Jacksonville Jaguars extend Defensive Tackle Tony McDaniel | | 2008-05-21 15:22:13
Jacksonville Sports Radio 101XL just reported that the Jaguars have agreed to a Contract Extension with Defensive Tackle Tony McDaniel. The 6-7, 310 third year player is an imposing, albeit developing player on the roster. McDaniel has played in 15 games in his career, but missed 12 last season due to injury.
The Jaguars would not have traded Marcus Stroud if they did not believe that Tony McDaniel would develop into a force on the defensive line.
Terms are not disclosed, as usual, but I will post them as soon as they are leaked.
This is the third extension in the last few days with defensive tackle Rob Meier coming to terms with an extension along with tackle Richard Collier Defensive End Paul Spicer was offered a contract, but did not come to an agreement.

| Jaguars Tackle Richard Collier gets an extension: Khalif Barnes is on notice... | | 2008-05-21 08:00:01 | |
The Jaguars signed backup offensive lineman Richard Collier to a contract extension Friday and also signed undrafted rookie free-agent wide receiver Derek Richards.
Richards' addition means the Jaguars have 14 undrafted rookies who have signed contracts, plus five draft picks who have yet to sign, bringing their roster total to 85 players.
All 19 rookies arrived in Jacksonville on Friday and will be on the field Monday for the second week of organized team activities. Rookies weren't allowed to report for OTAs before May 15 because of an agreement the NFL has with the NCAA.
Collier, originally signed by the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Valdosta State in 2006, has played in just eight games in his first three seasons with one start. Last year, he was suspended for two games after being arrested on a DUI charge.
No contract terms were disclosed for Collier, who was due to make $455,000 this year. He's the backup left tackle behind Khalif Barnes.

| Jacksonville Jaguars Contract News: Defensive Tackle Rob Meier signs 5 year extension | | 2008-05-15 15:38:47 | |
Jacksonville Jaguars Defensive Tackle Rob Meier agreed to a 5 year contract extension today and became the heir apparant to Marcus Stroud on the defensive line. The terms of the contract, as usual, are unknown, but the numbers are bigger than the 2.095 base salary he was due under his previous contract.
Meier, despite my terrible prediction that he might be one of the more vulnerable players on the roster, is a solid defensive tackle that filled in admirably in Stroud's absence. When Stroud went to Buffalo, I assumed that defensive tackle would be a position of need going into the draft, but the Jaguars clearly think differently. With Meier as the counterpart to Henderson, the Jaguars have Tony McDaniel and Derek Landri as the primary rotation in the middle.
No matter how you shake it, that's a pretty solid group. I'd expect to see Landri fill in on 3rd downs and obvious passing situations, and I would not be surprised to see Meier/Land | | By: Big Cat Country - An Unoffical Jacksonville Jaguar

| Ramirez to Get Extension | | 2008-05-10 01:18:00 | | Hallelujah! The Marlins finally are breaking the bank for a top player. Sadly, the generous financial stance taken by the front office comes too late, as we have already traded a perennial All-Star in Miguel Cabrera in exchange for a strikeout machine (Maybin) and a struggling rookie pitcher. At least now we know the cornerstone of the franchise will be locked up for the future.Supposedly the contract extension is for 6 years and 70 million dollars. That's not too shabby for what will eventually be one of the game's 5 best players. I'm sure that contract won't hold up towards the tail end. It's too much of a bargain. Hopefully by then we will be able to afford other talented players to put alongside Hanley. This year's early success has been nice, but we can't rest our laurels on a 20-14 record. | | By: State of Miami | | |

| How to rename file extension | | 2008-04-15 05:53:00 | | You may occasionally want to rename the extension of your files. For instance, once I downloaded a “.chm” file – HTML help file, which didn’t have an extension. So, I had to add the extension my self. I made an error by renaming it to a “.pdf” file. Now I wanted to correct it, but the extension is not visible when you try to change it. If something like this has happened to you it is because the windows, is configured to hide the extensions of known file types. Now lets consider the file “SSHClientHelp” for example. It doesn’t have an extension visible, for the file to work properly it must be a HTML help file, but now it is a PDF file.To enable the extension, go to tools –--> folder options, click the view tab and uncheck “Hide the extensions of known file types”Now the extension must be visible, rename as usual.Windows will ask you to verify your action, click yes. You are done! | | By: New To Programming | | |

| Haith Gets His Extension | | 2008-04-07 12:25:00 | | Kirby Hocutt has made an impact on UM athletics and he hasn't even officially taken over the AD position yet. It was pretty much a no-brainer, but we have to be happy that Hocutt and President Donna Shalala recognized the need to lock down Frank Haith. Without him, this program would slip back into obscurity. Haith needed a couple of years to bring in his own kids and produce the results we were looking for when we hired him from Texas, but it finally paid off with a nice run in the NCAA Tournament. The extension runs through the 2012-2013 season, though the contract numbers weren't released. Hopefully they are paying him well, because if Miami continues its rise to the top of the ACC standings, other teams will come looking for Haith to rejuvenate their own programs. It's imperative that we keep him here. With the heralded young kids coming in to replace King and Hicks, this team should be even better next season than they were this year. That being said, Round of 32 is what we should e | | By: State of Miami | | |

| Jack Del Rio Signs Contract Extension: Five Year Deal! | | 2008-04-03 11:29:54 | | Update [2008-4-3 14:30:30 by River City Rage]:: Contract is for 5 years, money still unknown. More to come! Jaguars.com reports that Head Coach Jack Del Rio has signed a contract extension. The exact terms have not been released yet, and a quick search of the internet shows that it's not been leaked yet either. The team plans on having a press conference at 1:00 EST to officially announce the extension. Congratulations Jack on a well-deserved raise. He's been one of the lowest paid coaches in the league, though he did sign a three million dollar a year extension in 2006 that expired after the 2008 season. In the NFL, you don't let coaches have a "lame duck" season unless there's an obvious Heir Apparant or you're intentionally trying to run your team into the ground. Seattle's Mike Holmgren is the NFL's highest paid coach at 8 million per year. Tom Coughlin just won the Super Bowl and received a 4 year, 5.25 million dollar per year extension. | David Garrard Contract Extension: How Much is he Worth? | | 2008-03-20 23:26:17 | | We've seen a few reports this week regarding an imminent contract extension for Quarterback David Garrard. Sort of. First we had the NFL.com report saying that the parties were "closing in" on a new contract. Good news, I'd like to see Garrard locked up long term with a nice fat (incentive laden) contract that secures our short and medium term future. Except that it might not be so close as Vito Stellino reports: "Nothing is any different today than it was two months ago,'' Al Irby said Wednesday, despite a report on the NFL Network that the two sides would reach a deal soon. "Maybe this week, maybe next week. "It could take two days, two weeks or not get done at all. This is the way negotiations go. One minute you're going down the right track, but then a snag can set you back.'' Irby said he's staying positive because the two sides are in constant communication, but he added that he thought the deal would be finished by now. | Domain Registration & Choosing a Domain Name Extension | | 2008-03-11 00:56:25 | | It may seem easy but it was quite difficult to figure out what name would be best for my new site. I found it easier to figure a site name when one has experienced making a site, put some content on it, & decide finally what one wants to do with the site. So I did it with a free site. Thank goodness buying & choosing a domain name extension is so much easier. One place to do so is at PayLessDomains.com.au.The site offers domain related services like domain registration, Domain Transfers, Domain Renewals, & even a WebHosting service. One thing I like about the site is that it helps one to decide which domain name extension to choose. Also receive discounted prices for registering a domain for two years or more. | TC deserves extension for job well done | | 2008-02-21 05:46:38 | | What a difference a year -- and a Super Bowl championship -- makes! The Giants are on the verge of giving Tom Coughlin a new four-year contract that will run through the 2011 season. When you consider everything that has happened during Coughlin's tenure, that's amazing. I began writing here at Big Blue View almost a year ago to the day. Leading up to the season we spent a lot of time debating Coughlin's fitness to be Giants' coach. In fact, in a July post I referenced an article by Clark Judge of CBS Sportsline in which he said TC was the second-most likely coach to be fired following the 2007 season. On July 15, I asked this question. Can Tom Coughlin really change? The Giants coach has said again and again during the offseason that he will try and relate better to both his players and the media. He needs to. Coughlin, in the final year of his contract, needs fewer distractions and more wins to save his job. Even as late as the beginning of the 2007 playoffs man | | By: Big Blue View | | |

| time to get the extension. | | 2008-02-04 16:43:44 | | before I talk about todays agenda, let me just pass this bit of info to one of the lounge lizards... this is for chicago joe. hey, bro. the engineer wanted me to let you know that the girls at the honey ko bar still remember you. so, I guess that means your life was NOT a total waste. carry on.anyway, with that out of the way....todays agenda includes a trip to the philippine immigration office in the city of dau. for those rookies out there whom are not familiar with the process... upon entering the PI, if you have not already processed a visa, you will receive upon entry a free 21 day transit visa. this visa allows you to hangout in the PI for 21 days, and then you have to leave. if you want to extend your stay in the PI, you would have to do what I am going to do later this morning. go to a philippine immigration somewhere in the country and pay some money for an extension. 2020 pesos for another 45 days.afterwards, I think I'll go and treat myself to the breakfast buffet o | | By: Life of a Lounge Lizard | | |

| Federal Transit Administration to block Metrorail extension? | | 2008-01-17 12:03:00 | |
Well this certainly is news I'm having a hard time forming an opinion on. Being a resident of Arlington county, I, along with virtually everyone else familiar with the project favor the underground option as opposed to the above ground rail. However, the fact that the FTA is threatening to reject it because they are "reluctant to promote large scale transit projects" kind of makes me sick.
Officials on Capitol Hill, in Richmond and at the airports authority's headquarters have speculated in recent days about what the problem might be. Some say the FTA has long been skeptical of expensive rail projects; in recent years, it has more often championed bus rapid transit projects.
Others point to a long-standing desire in the Transportation Department to move away from public investments in infrastructure. Peters, the transportation secretary, for example, refused to endorse a report published Tuesday by a bipartisan national commission on the future of the nation's transportation system. She instead issued a dissent decrying wasteful spending and the federal government's large share of the investment. She said she favored private investment and more tolling to control congestion.
I would hardly call a "bus" rapid transit, first of all. Second of all, isn't it great how we're spending trillions in Iraq to "build" (destroy) their infrastructure but projects like this within our own country remain in limbo decades after they are needed.

| Ricky Gets Extension | | 2008-01-03 19:30:00 | | In what comes to a surprise to yours truly, the Dolphins today extended Ricky Williams' contract through next season. In my Evaluation of RBs I wrote how Ricky's ineffectiveness, injury history, age, and character issues probably meant he was done with the Dolphins and possibly the NFL.Apparently, the new front office felt otherwise. Ricky's contract is worth just under 750k next season, so he serves as a cheap backup to Ronnie Brown. I doubt at this point that there are any considerable offers for his services from other teams. Might as well I guess. What worries me is that this probably spells the end of Jesse Chatman's run in Miami. He could potentially price himself out of a job here and I doubt the Dolphins plan on keeping 4 running backs on the roster. The potential fallout of this happening is that if Ronnie is not ready by training camp or God forbid reinjures himself, we are taking a huge risk with Ricky being the primary backup. Oh well. We'll see how things go. | | By: State of Miami | | |

What Are The Ramifications? | | 2007-09-29 11:31:25 | | In advance of the World Transhumanist Society's annual confab, Transvision 2007, the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies (IEET) held a pre-conference meeting in a non-descript ballroom at the Fairmont Hotel.
