THE BOSTON RED SOX : Essential Games of Fenway Park...THE REVIEW...THE CONTEST!
    2008-05-30 04:10:00
Hello on this Friday morning, still dark because I woke up much too early. The contest to win one of the two copies of the 6 DVD set from A&E Home Video that chronicles six of the greatest games ever played at Fenway Park as voted by the fans is on! The discs are in my hot hands, and I had a chance to savor a generous helping of each disc. For the full details of which games are included and a list of the bonus features, simply scroll down two posts and you'll find everything you'd want to know. Ok, here goes...The six DVDs are housed in a beautiful metallic silver-colored hard plastic box with easy access to the goodies inside. There are no security stickers to peel off at your own risk. Each disc has one game on it, the earliest being from that magic year of 1967, when Yaz had the year of all years. The date of the game? September 30, 1967, when the Sox were in the thick of an improbable pennant race and needed something Yaz-special. Boy, did they get it! The last disc is also the mo...

The Hallowed Ground of Fenway Park
    2008-04-25 12:04:00
It was a quite a memorable and historic day for me at Fenway Park on Thursday afternoon. The fact the Red Sox lost to LA didn't really put a damper on the day. I took Amtrak up to Boston, and as soon as I got off the train I ran into some difficulty (I'm never getting off at Back Bay again), and had to take a cab to the park. After hoofing it up Lansdowne Street, I hooked up with my friend Chris and some other people for the Fenway Park tour. I was incredibly excited as we immediately walked on the field at 11:55 AM and stood with some other folks on the warning track behind the batting cage as the Red Sox took batting practice. (I had to bend down and pick up a couple of rocks as souvenirs!) We saw David Ortiz hitting shots while Peter Gammons was chatting with some folks at the cage. I also had a pleasant surprise seeing my friend and fellow blogger Jere of "A Red Sox Fan From Pinstripe Territory" at the foul screen and we chatted briefly. Manny Ramirez then came out of the dugout and...

A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Fenway Park
    2007-11-27 05:12:00
There's not much going on in the Sox news department, except for ongoing talks with the Twins about their soon-to-be-traded Johan Santana.....talks that include the New York Yankees. That's one destination we do NOT want to see him call home for the baseball seasons to come. So I wanted to tell you a quick story, a tale I will always remember. The names have been changed to protect the innocent (just kidding!).Flash back six or seven years ago. I and a couple friends were on our way to Fenway Park, motoring up Route 84 east near the Massachusetts line, where Route 90, the Mass Pike, intersects and takes you straight east (or west) into the heart of Boston, and that fabled little ballpark called Fenway Park. We were listening to WTIC-AM1080, a radio station fabled for it's unwavering Sox coverage for more than 50 years, and during the top of the hour newscast (the 11AM hour, I remember that), we heard a report, an "Amber alert" before there were "Amber alerts," that said a child had ...

    Weather Watch For Fenway Park......
    2007-10-12 18:18:00
For any lucky ones going to the game tonight.....the scattered showers and pockets of heavier rain have stopped here in North Central Connecticut, and that makes us GOLDEN for a Red Sox game at our Fenway Park at 7:10pm...your seats might be wet, but the wind will be doing its best to dry them off! And that wind will be blowing from left to right. So go! Jackets required, as well as a Sox joyful win! FOR ALL OF US!!! And, courtesy of NBC30, just click on the title of this very post for the animated radar! Just my way of saying GO SOX! Forever!...

On the final game of the first red sox series for the Giants at Fenway Park in Boston, Bonds hit homerun #748 into the right field. It was his first home run at Fenway Park ever. You knew he had been dying to do it and he left some big tracks from some [...]...

Coke Bottles Introduced To Fenway Park
    2007-03-19 20:42:00
A very controversial topic was brought up in 1997. Should Fenway Park utilize as much space for advertising as possible? The Red Sox thought so. A 25 foot bottle of Coke was tacked onto the outfield wall. Over the next years 2 additional coca-cola bottles would join it up there....
