| Forbes lists the Top 10 Fastest Fictional Cars | | 2008-05-15 20:04:00 | | Employing research that they certainly did not get from AOL Autos, Forbes is at it again with a list of the Top 10 Fastest Fictional Cars. One of the things we find odd about the list is that there are a number of cars included that you can actually buy or make pretty easily, like James Bond's Aston Martin DBS or the General Lee. That, and a lot of cars for sale today are as fast or faster than some fictional ones on the list.Yet the strangest thing on the list has to be that Lightning McQueen, he of Cars fame, has a 750-horsepower V8 but takes 4.5 seconds to get from 0-to-60. Disney, come on. It's no wonder Lightning had self-esteem issues. We won't tell you what No. 1 is, but it goes 800-MPH and runs on Energon, which, sadly, Chevron doesn't carry. Click the link for the full rundown, and check out the list of honorable mentions as well, which includes the Gran Torino from Starsky & Hutch and the G-6155 Interceptor from the Spy Hunter video game. Thanks for the tip, Benjamin![Sour | | By: Car News | | |
| | Al Gore Used Fictional Scenes in “An Inconvenient Truth” | | 2008-04-22 20:35:06 | | This really isn’t surprising to me. Al Gore took a scene from the (fiction) movie “The Day After Tomorrow,” which in itself was a propaganda movie, and used it in his own propaganda “documentary,” “An Inconvenient Truth.” The scene in question was a computer generated image and is not real.

| | The Fictional Entity | | 2007-11-09 15:09:00 | | By Carlos Benito CamachoIt was when dark clouds blotted out the sun. It was when a chilling wind blew relentlessly, raising dust and dead leaves. It was when the world in which he had gotten stranded, with everything that belonged in it, moving and static, seemed to have gotten snagged in a leaden nook of time. It was eons before, when he had become eternally old; when his shriveling heart pumped pointlessly the curdling blood of a fading existence.Carlos B. Camacho's photoIt was when the impending change was coming, slantingly fast, out of nowhere, like the swing of scythe, cutting deeply, gouging out fragments of time-warped realityHe stirred, coughing.“I want to be!” he screamed hoarsely at the wind, with a poignant sense of inconsistency. Scanning about his surroundings with a distant eye, he realized he was alone; not a single creature which used to move about in every forms. The desolate dead-end street was lined on both sides by blackened, bare-branched trees. Derelict old | | By: Stories & Straight Thoughts | | |

| | Fictional Family | | 2007-07-03 15:16:00 | | I've followed For Better, Or For Worse diligently since I was in elementary school. It was around the time that I figured out that Michael and I were the same age that I felt a connection to the comic strip. We even both went into a similar profession after school, even though our lives have deviated quite a bit over the years. When I was in college and didn't have daily access to a newspaper, I would call my mom and get caught up on all the story lines. Sometimes other friends or relatives will catch us talking about the strip and say, "Who is this you're talking about? Someone Julie is friends with?" That's how much we love the strip. So when I saw today's strip, my reaction of, "YES!!!!" was appropriate. What a great line by Anthony! Maybe Liz and him will finally be together, as they should have been all these years. These are the things that turn me to mush. | | By: In Java, Literally... | | |
