| | Five Ways to Keep the Holiday Pounds Away | | 2008-07-15 03:57:59 | | With the Holiday season fast approaching, you may have concerns about keeping those extra pounds at bay. It seems that even though the holidays themselves are only a few actual days, food is in abundance from Thanksgiving through New Year's, and temptation can be overwhelming. The following tips can help you survive the season with minimal damage.Keep the focus on family and friendsAll too often, the emphasis is on the food rather than spending time with those we love. If you try to keep the focus on family and friends, this can help you shift mental gears and see the food as secondary. Yes, many people have food traditions that make the holidays special, but this is usually only a dish or two. However, when you think about it, is it really the food that makes the holiday, or the memories that the food invokes? Go ahead and make you favorite holiday dishes, but keep portions a reasonable size and focus on the time together. Also, try to avoid the feeling that you have to stuff yourself | | By: tips n trick diets success | | |

| Five Ways to Beat Stress at Work | | 2008-06-11 00:25:00 | | Everyone gets stressed from time to time, usually at the office. The question is, do you send stress packing or let it upset your whole day? If you fall into the latter category, check out Dumb Little Man’s five tips on relaxing at work when stress strikes. For starters, breathe: All you need to do is sit down and very slowly bring your attention to your breath. Focus on the feeling of the breath going in and out of your nose. If other thoughts enter into your mind just let them pass. Don’t judge them or try to force them out. Just notice them and then bring your awareness back to the breath. Now we are going to count 10 rounds of the breath. A “round” is one inhale and one exhale. This is a lot harder than you think because the stressed mind will jump around like a monkey whose pants are on fire! If you lose count before you get to 10 simply start again. The author also recommends moving outdoors for a few minutes, downing a cup of tea, listening to classical music, and tellin | | By: Brain Power | | |
| | Baby Health - Five Ways To Insure A Healthy Baby | | 2008-06-05 20:55:55 | | Raising a healthy baby has always been a big responsibility, and probably even more so today with the wealth of information available to us. It is sometimes difficult to know what choices will ultimately mean better health for your baby. By focusing on 5 major categories, your choices will become clearer thus easier to make. *Food Select foods that are organic, not to be confused with the term natural. The label of natural means different things to different companies, and is nebulous in terms of genetic engineering, pesticide, and chemical exposure. Organic foods have a label certifying that they have not been genetically engineered and that pesticides, antibiotic use, and chemicals have not been part of the process. Bypassing the chemicals, pesticides, and antibiotics will give your baby a head start down the road toward good health. Not mention, that organically grown foods generally taste better, and will encourage your baby to eat foods just because they taste so good. *Water Choo | | By: Health Care Guide | | |

| Five Ways to Lose More Weight with Walking Workouts | | 2008-05-27 06:57:00 | | Article By: Debbie Rocker SourceCROSS TRAIN“Cross train” by varying your walking workout. I’ve been seeing it for over a decade — people tell me they’ll walk the same six-mile route every day. Usually you can cut your workout time in half and get the same results, simply by changing up the way you walk!. If you always do the same things, your body knows exactly what to expect and it goes into conserve mode. It’s part of maintaining stasis. And your mind goes to that same place — the workout gets boring, and you don’t keep walking at a vigorous pace. It loses what I call the “training effect.”If you can swim and cycle and walk, that’s fantastic. But walking is something you can take with you anywhere and do throughout your lifetime. You can walk anywhere — outside, in front of your TV, in a gym. Your heart rate conditioning is varied based on different terrain. And when you walk indoors, you’re using completely different muscles in different ways, with differen | | By: Just a List | | |
| | Five Ways to Make Cold Calls Fun | | 2008-04-06 21:04:59 | | Way too many articles dealing with cold calling touch on the negative aspects of it: handling rejection, getting through secretarial screening and voice mail, and finding the right decision makers. While I’ve developed great tools for accomplishing these tasks, I try to remind my trainees and clients to have fun when they’re reaching out [...] | | By: Online Business Alliance & Niches | | |
| | Five ways to lift your mood | | 2007-12-11 22:13:37 | | Here is super post from The Guardian on how to uplift your mood. Try yourself.Make a note of three things that went well today, and whyThis exercise, devised by former president of the American Psychological Association, Martin Seligman, proved so powerful that it helped to launch the Positive Psychology Movement. What Seligman found was that this exercise, above all others, had a significant effect on treating depression, comparing favourably to anti-depressants and psychotherapy.Psychologist Robert Emmons, from the University of California at Davis, found it improves physical health, energy levels and, for patients with neuromuscular disease, relieves pain and fatigue. One study found it worked better if it was done weekly instead.Identify your strengths and every week, aim to use them in new, creative ways."This exercise gives a huge boost," says Page. | | Five Ways to Play Your Money in a Slowing Economy | | 2007-12-11 11:54:00 | | by Marshall LoebDo you give yourself free rein when it comes to holiday spending? Have you forgotten the founding fathers' stern visages because you charge everything to your credit card? With the U.S. economy showing signs of slowing and consumer spending skipping behind inflation, it's a good time to reevaluate spending habits and brace for some budgeting. If you are confused about how to prepare for a likely recession, Paul McClatchy, vice president of financial planning at wealth-planning technology firm eMoney Advisor, has these five tips to offer:Regardless of what the market does, everyone needs an emergency fund. If you don't already have one, set one up with enough money in it that could tide you over for at least three months in case you lose your job, become disabled or have an unexpected urgent expense. If there is only one income earner in your family, you would be wise to stash enough to last you at least six months. | | Top Five Ways to Quickly Improve Your Descriptions When Selling on eBay | | 2007-12-08 12:16:00 | | Here are the top five ways to enhance your descriptions to increase your sales on eBay. 1. Take good pictures – Since buyers cannot touch or feel the items you are selling on eBay, your pictures need to be of the best quality in order for buyers to feel confident of the quality of your items. Your pictures need to be focused and excess area needs to be cropped out before you upload your photo. If you ever look at your pictures and think, “That’s good enough”, they aren’t. The quality of your pictures directly relates to your quality as a seller. A good picture can be worth a thousand dollars, a bad picture will cost you dollars.2. Correct grammar and spelling – eBay buyers want to know that they are buying from someone that they can trust. You ruin that trust with poor grammar and spelling mistakes. Always double check your final version before posting it to eBay. Poor grammar hurts your credibility as a seller, which in turn will cost you sales and return customers.3. Proper formatting – Keep buyers’ attention by keeping your description short, relevant and truthful. Use numbered lists or bullet points when describing the details of your items. Bullet points should be phrases and are usually not complete sentences. Do not make your bullet points into paragraphs as that will tend to draw attention away from your crucial selling points. Use bold and underlining only when necessary, and stay away from rainbow colored descriptions. Just get to the point of why your item is so great.4. Be kind to all – Do not become the angry seller. We have all had bad experiences with deadbeat buyers on eBay, but that doesn’t mean that buyers are your enemy. If your description comes across as someone who is angry and is willing to leave negative feedback at the drop of a hat, then buyers will shy away from you. Always keep your tone positive and buyers will trust that their business with you will be positive.5. Clearly state your terms and conditions | | By: Auction For Fortune | | |
| | Five Ways To Shuffle Through A Morning | | 2007-07-25 14:38:00 | | Thought I'd do the iPod shuffle post with just five songs I listened to this morning before work. Aural memory recall sometimes freaks me out because of its ability to pick me up and toss me down into various points in my life or places I've been. One song may bring me amazing joy and others are more like a hit in the gut.Hot Hot Heat - Middle Of Nowhere: Great song, although I still have too many associations with visiting my grandmother in hospice whenever this comes on. Incidentally, because of that I always think of that golden time of summer that's hot, sunny, clear, but breezy enough to make it bearable. The Beastie Boys - Hold It Now, Hit It: Not something I listen to regularly enough to have any opinions other than the Beasties rock.Ben Folds Five - Don't Change Your Plans: When I moved to Jamestown in 1999, I listened to "The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner" a lot. Whatever your job-search strategy, here's five tips to help you stand out from the pack. Think Strategically "You never want to get caught behind changes in the marketplace," says Dawn Fay, New York-based regional vice president of Robert Half International. "When the market changes, it's often subtle, so stay ahead of the game." That means reading as much as you can in professional and generic publications and Web sites and constantly nurturing your network to keep the pulse of the hiring climate. "There's always an ebb and flow of demand for certain skills and positions. Stay focused on the big picture," Fay says. | | Five ways to get Explosive Traffic | | 2007-05-29 03:46:00 | | Do you feel good about the volume of traffic currently you are getting? How would you like to exponentially increase your blog traffic without investing an extra cent on advertising?Yes, this can be done. Your ultimate target should be to create sustainable traffic system, a kind that will pay you for years for a one-time effort. All this can be done through the powerful principle known as leverage. What then is the secret to leverage? The secret to leverage is in coming up with effective, efficient and self-perpetuating systems to gain traffic for years and years. You need to invest time creating traffic building generation tool. Once done, let it loose on the web and let others do the work for you. You will only do this once but the system continues to grow and multiply your results.Any system you set up which allows your sales message or your links to propagate online in "word of mouth" fashion qualify as leverage. This can be an article with your byline and links on it submitted to multiple article directories, a free e-book and even your affiliate program. However, for these tools to work their magic, the same must contain incentive either in the form of profit or value. You're either paying someone in commissions for their effort or you're offering them valuable information for free. With this in mind, here are five no-cost explosive viral leveraging tactics you can put into action immediately:1. Viral Free Report TrafficFree reports are common these days. If you sell information product, it is almost a requirement to have at lease one freebie report aimed to pre-sell your information product and to be given away to other websites or blogs. Allowing others to re-brand your report with their affiliate links is the basic incentive for webmasters to let your report be downloadable for free at their website. In this case, your army of traffic multiplication is made up of other webmasters.Place more value to your free report. | | Five Ways to Grow Your StumbleUpon Network: An Ode to Altruistic Stumbling | | 2007-05-10 11:34:15 | | Copyright © Dosh Dosh (www.doshdosh.com) I previously wrote an extensive guide to StumbleUpon, which gave a thorough introduction to using StumbleUpon as a means to direct massive traffic towards your website.
The article was pretty well received and I’ve gotten several questions from bloggers over the past two months.
The question I was asked the most often, was how to build up your own StumbleUpon network of friends, who might help to stumble your blog posts or webpages whenever interesting articles were to appear.
Why would you want to build up your StumbleUpon network or profile? As mentioned in my previous post, the number of StumbleUpon users who stumble your webpages has an effect in how much traffic you will receive in the long run.
The other obvious benefit to having many friends is that your StumbleUpon experience will be enriched and more fulfilling. Sharing websites with friends through StumbleUpon is truly a fun way to interact with the world wide web.
