As usual, Audi will likely bring all the bells and whistles to the A1 Cabrio, including a power top that descends fully into the back end of the car. That would give the A1 and advantage over the MINI which stacks on top of the hind-quarters. And, unlike the MINI that maintains a diminutive replica of a rear seat, Audi won't bother with the rear quarters, keeping it strictly a two-seater. In the rendering from AutoExpress the car looks more like a miniature version of the RS4 Cabrio, but the little machine won't bother with quattro all-wheel-drive. Instead, the front wheels will be powered by 1.4L TFSI engines with mated to a DSG gearbox. The A1 Cabrio should debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show.

They took the bike case without asking for an extra dime.. Of course it might be because we are entitled to 6 suitcases and only had 4.. The bike case was the lightest piece too.. Maybe they'll nail me on the return leg.. We're docked at a table and chairs in front of a panoramic view of the airfield. It's pretty awesome. The Airbus ride here was six hours, and that plane was huge.. You take a flight of stairs down to the toilets. Private Lcds in front of every seat.. You choose your own movie, cartoon or sitcom. I was seated next to a 350 pound mouth-breather who cursed at my son in German when he accidentally kicked the guy.. I didn't take offense. But what is surprising is just how much more power the Audi RS6 develops over its obvious German rivals - 572bhp to be exact, some 50-60bhp more than its Mercedes AMG E63 and BMW M5 wagon alternatives.Unlike that pair, the RS6 should be able to use its prodigious grunt more often, even in less than perfect conditions. That's due to the RS6's quattro four-wheel drive drivetrain. So while the AMG Mercedes and BMW M5 Touring drivers wrestle their cars off the line with more smoke and flashing lights than a mobile disco, the RS6 should be on its way to recording its 0-62mph time of 4.6 seconds.Keep that right hand pedal buried to the floor and the RS6 will blast up to 124mph in just 14.9 seconds, its relentless quest for the horizon only halted when the electronics stop play at 155mph. Helping achieve that incredible performance is a recalibrated transmission, the six-speed Tiptronic featuring faster shifts and revised ratios. Although the RS6 features four-wheel drive, the torque is split 40/60 front to rear, Audi proving with its recent Audi R8 and Audi RS4 models that it's quite capable of making enjoyable drivers' cars.To ensure the RS6 not only outguns, but out drives its rivals Audi has made a number of enhancements. There's a lightweight aluminium bonnet and front wings to aid weight distribution, bigger brakes, completely revised suspension with adjustable damping and a recalibrated ESP that intervenes later to maximise driver involvement. The ESP system can also be fully deactivated, and should you find the standard brakes wanting, Audi offers a ceramic brake option. Choose those enhanced stoppers and you'll need the bigger 20-inch alloy wheels in place of the standard 19-inch rims, too.Even without the optional 20-inchers the RS6 makes little attempt to hide its added muscle. There's a deeper front bumper sliced by a menacing grille and bigger air apertures, deeper side skirts, a diffuser style rear bumper with large oval exhaust pipes and blistered wheel arches. Those wheel arches are styled in a manner to evoke the look of the iconic Ur-quattro, the car that pioneered Audi's use of four-wheel drive back in 1980. Inside, the RS6 gains a mix of Alcantara, leather, aluminium and carbon fibre, sports seats and a chunky steering wheel with paddle-shifters. Available to order in November for early 2008 delivery, the RS6 will initially be offered in Avant (estate) guise, with a saloon to follow. Shedding light on the F22 Raptor fighter jet-inspired supercar, Lamborghini told us it will share the same basic powerplant as the Murcielago LP640, but the 6.5-litre V12 will have 10bhp more, taking it to a massive 641bhp produced at 8,000rpm.Not one to ever slow a car down, Lamborghini has made the car completely out of carbon fibre except the roof and doors, so expect electric straight-line performance helped by Lambo's unaltered e-gear paddle shift transmission.Outright performance though, was never at the top of the agenda. Lamborghini has used the Reventon to test a production process that sees a car go from sketch to showroom much quicker by cutting out the road-testing of full-scale models, relying instead on CAD and small-scale mock-ups for use in the wind tunnel. This will see the Italian company capable of producing new cars on a much more regular basis, with a source claiming that it will display something interesting at every major motorshow from now on.The Lamborghini Reventon, although based on the Murcielago, features all-new body panels and aeronautical-inspired front intakes that aid brake cooling, whilst a new gaping rear diffuser helps to generate downforce. Excessive styling has gone into the cabin too, featuring a special TFT screen in place of the traditional tachometer, which projects either analogue readouts or a full-on jet fighter-style speed and rev readout.Priced at £675,000 pre-tax, you would have to be truly lucky to own one of the 20 Lamborghini Reventons being made, and luckier still since only 'friends and collectors' are considered as potential buyers. The new engine features engine concepts that characterize both diesel and petrol motors, and promises to be as clean as petrol engines but as efficient as diesels.The technology is similar to Volkswagen’s recently announced Gasoline Compression Ignition system, which works by using spark plugs during start-up and hard acceleration, while relying on sparkless compression ignition, like a diesel, during low load situations.In an interview with Automotive News, a Mercedes official explained that VW’s technology is still several years away because it requires a special synthetic fuel that’s still in development, while the Mercedes will run on regular petrol. I think we have enough to start a petition. Ford unveiled the Iosis-X Concept in Paris last fall, which was a preview of Ford’s future crossover for the European folks. The Frankfurt Autoshow is right near our door and Ford released some teaser information along with an attractive sketch of the vehicle.
Named the ‘Kuga’, the crossover will sit on Ford’s C1 platform, which also underpins the Ford Focus, Mazda3, Volvo S40, and the Land Rover LR2. The Kuga is Ford’s attempt to combat the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4 and the Nissan Qashqai. The name, which distinctly sounds like a British pronounciation of Mercury’s Cougar, clears any speculations made like the X-MAX. The design, which derives from the Iosis-X Concept, seems to have stayed intact in the concept to production transition.

We’ve seen spy pics of prototypes running around the Nurburgring since wizard fans were (and still are) on their knees waiting for the seventh Harry Potter book to come out. This is our Deathly Hallows and the waiting has paid off. The Scuderia joins the Coupe and the Spyder in the F430 line-up. The newbie is the more track-oriented variant of the trio. Its engine is modified to churn out 27 more horsepowers than the conventional F430, to an impressive 510hp. The Scuderia weighs 220lbs less than the F430 and therefore, the horsepower to weight ratio is a mind-blowing 1hp per 5.4lbs.

| | Citroen C5 II leaked ahead of Frankfurt debut | | 2007-06-15 17:06:27 | | This was very unexpected as even spyshots of the new C5 did not emerge as of yet. However, thanks to CARSCOOP, we bring you undisguised shots of the Citroen’s new mid-size C5 II. Auto-Journal posted up these images on their website, ahead of its public unveiling at the Frankfurt International Autoshow in September.
The new C5 influences its design heavily from its C4 and C6 siblings. With the signature Citroen grille, the C5 II ditches its predecessor’s conventional look in favor of a sleeker and quirkier design that brings thoughts of the C4 Picasso. We certainly like the front and we like the unique touches that the French automaker has added in its interior. We think the rear needs some rethinking as it does not flow well with the rest of the design and it looks somewhat rushed. These shots are certainly not the best quality, so we’ll leave it at that and wait until Citroen releases their official studio shots. Follow the jump to view more shots.

Bei dieser Informationsveranstaltung besteht eine knappe Woche die Möglichkeit für Schülerinnen und Schüler aus dem frankfurter Raum an den Universitäten in Frankfurt verschiedenste Lesungen zu besuchen. Endlich dürfen die Schülerinnen und Schüler der Jahrgangsstufe 12 mal an die Universitäten. Dank der Broschüren, welche an den jeweiligen Schulen ausgelegt wurden, kann man sich die Lesungen aussuchen, die einem gefallen und an ihnen ohne Voranmeldung teilnehmen.Einziges Problem: Die Lesungen erfolgen während der Schulzeit. Bei meiner Schule haben wir extra für diesen Zweck Schulfrei bekommen. D.h. wir haben die Möglichkeit, an die Universitäten zu gehen und uns Lesungen anzusehen oder auch einfach zu Hause zu bleiben und nichts zu tun. Letzteres ist vielleicht in Hinblick auf die Zukunft nicht wirklich optimal, steht aber letztendlich jedem frei.Ein kleiner Wehmutstropfen dürfte jedoch sein, dass wir während dieser "Studienwoche" Klausuren schreiben. So ist es mir zum Beispiel morgen nicht möglich, die BWL-Lesung zu verfolgen, da ich parallel dazu eine Deutsch-LK-Klausur schreibe. "Zum Glück betrifft dies nur BWL" könnte ich jetzt sagen, denn BWL hatte mich primär sowieso nicht so interessiert. Aber dennoch ärgerlich.Nächste Woche stehen dann die Lesungen für Kommunikations- und Mediendesign auf dem Plan. Da darf ich natürlich auf keinen Fall fehlen.
