Doug Mathis, one of the American League’s more volatile young pitchers through the first month of his big league career, squaring off against the respectable Matt Garza on a suffocatingly warm Sunday afternoon at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

Having purportedly ridden starter Scott Feldman - who tossed six innings of four-run (three earned) baseball on four hits and a pair of walks, with 48 of his 85 pitches being strikes - as far as he conceivably thought he could, manager Ron Washington entrusted a respectable three-run advantage [...] | | By: Baseball Time in Arlington

| Why Creating a Resolution Fuels Motivation | | 2008-05-27 20:22:19 | | By means of something different, everybody is motivated. For any kind of goal, that is the similar. Since their high school reunion is around the corner, someone may want to lose weight, while another may want to discard those extra pounds to get into the mood. Some reasonable goals, incentives, or even the character of the person is typically, what motivates a person to do what he or she does. In order to get good grades, one person may be motivated, or strive, because they need a high GPA, while another person may be motivated to earn high marks since they will get money from a parent.Whether you are looking to lose a few pounds, exercise more to get in better shape or to get your house structured, creating a sense of purpose is the key to motivation. Motivation is difficult without having a sense of purpose. Without a reason, your goals are not clear and your outcome that you are working towards will be harder to reach. Many different things may motivate a person, but the reason why | | By: tips n trick diets success | | |

| What Is The Outlook For The Availability Of Fossil Fuels? | | 2008-05-02 09:22:21 | | I think this article is comparable to the people who slow down on the highway to look at an automobile accident. You are not involved in the accident, yet you surely are curious about what is happening. At the present time we can sense the presence of a disaster, but we do not have enough information to feel that we can get involved. My push to adopt renewable energies is based on our continued polluting of the environment with the burning of fossil fuels. We know that we must slow down this pollution so that our quality of life will not be severely degraded. There is another piece of information needed to prod us into action, and that is how long do we have before we run out of fossil fuels? As a current member of the earth, I am concerned that we leave future generation's sufficient energy to bridge the gap from fossil to renewable fuels. This, to me, is looking at the car wreck. | | News: When Green Goes Commercial: Bio-Corn Fuels Gulf of Mexico's "Dead Zone" | | 2008-04-26 06:00:41 | | "Dead zones" are areas in the world's oceans where marine life can not be supported due to depleted oxygen levels. Fish can flee potential suffocation by migrating to other areas, but they are often quickly rendered unconscious and die. Even if they survive studies show a decrease in size of reproductive organs causing low egg counts and lack of spawning. Slow moving bottom-dwelling creatures like clams, lobsters and oysters are unable to escape. All colonial animals are extinguished. (More)In other words: a "dead zone" is a vicious circle turning an ocean into a desert, incapable of supporting any marine life. The most notorious dead zone is a 22,126 square kilometer (8,543 square mile) region in the Gulf of Mexico, the size of the State of New Jersey. The area has about doubled in size since scientists began studying it in 1985, a good enough reason to be alarmed. One of the main causes of the Gulf's dead zone is the Mississippi River's dumping of high-nutrient runoff from the heart of | | By: The Road to the Horizon | | |

| | | Study Reports Anger Fuels Better Decisions | | 2008-02-18 18:24:07 | |
This is from June of last year, but this is the first I've heard of it, so hopefully everybody isn't already familiar. A scientific experiment was conducted to determine the impact of anger on decision-making and rationality. It was concluded that anger actually improves your thought processes and helps you to make better decisions which you more strongly uphold. So, take that all of you nay-sayers who constantly criticize us for tossing away the facade of propriety and demeanor of respect for others' beliefs. We're actually better off precisely because we get angry.

| | Video: President Bush says continue investing in advanced battery, renewable fuels in his last SOTU | | 2008-01-29 10:53:01 | | Last night, in his last State of the Union address, President George Bush said "let us continue investing in advanced battery technology and renewable fuels to power the cars and trucks of the future." You can see for yourself in the video above. We will have more on this later but from what he said and previews in the press, it looks like Bush won't have any major initiatives for cars in '08.This is very different from last year when Bush not only talked up battery-powered cars and renewable fuels in the state of the Union but also hybrids, plug-ins, clean diesel, biodiesel and even CAFE. You can watch that video below the fold. President Bush got most of what he asked for in the energy bill that past late December. | | | EUROPE: Europe Union hosts international conference on bio-fuels [video] | | 2007-07-07 14:39:00 | | They have been talking about bio-fuels in Brussels. Brazil's president Lula da Silva was greeted by the president of the European Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso, at an international conference on fuel made from plants. Brazil is already the world's biggest producer of ethanol. The European Commission has called for international development of bio-fuels but stressed that such fuel production must not damage the environment. President Lula da Silva underlined the importance of developing alternative energy sources."20 nations produce energy for around 200 countries," he said. "With the introduction of bio-fuels, more than 100 countries could become energy producers, making access to fuel more democratic."One worry about bio-fuels, is the possible destruction of natural habitat to make room for the bio-mass crops. But the european commissioner for external relations, Benita Ferrero-Waldner says it IS possible to produce eco-friendly fuel."If we manage things in the right way for insta | | By: energy BLOG | | |
| | Lewis “Scooter” Libby fuels anti-americanism | | 2007-07-07 10:00:32 | |
All hail King Dubya - the biggest failure and least great president of them all! In a superlative demonstration to our Iraqi friends how to perform in a true democracy Bush has intervened to prevent Lewis Libby, a convicted former vice-presidential aide, from serving a prison term.
Bush described as “excessive” the 30-month sentence Libby was facing for obstructing an inquiry into the leaking of a CIA agent’s name.
Though no longer required to go to jail, Libby is still due to serve a period of probation and pay a fine.
I acknowledge that Presidents have the power to grant clemency and pardons. But in this case, Bush didn’t sound like a leader making tough decisions about justice. He sounded like a man worried about what a former loyalist might say either while in jail or in a “tell-all” book afterwards. This is the way to keep him quiet. | | | Nonfossil fuels thrive on word tricks of persuasion | | 2007-05-23 04:13:00 | | While ethanol claims an increasing share of the Philippine fuel market, a once-common name for gasoline alcohol blends still remains unpopular and in relative disuse. Gasohol. It is the name given to gasoline/ethanol blends. In the US, ethanol makers dislike the term because they experienced difficulties selling products associated with the noun. Motorists have associated the noun with engine-performance problems that many of them had experienced with such blends. And despite ethanol's new popularity as an automotive fuel additive, the term gasohol is colloquial at best. Of course, consumer attitudes about gasohol have reversed due to improvements in fuel chemistry and most importantly, the management of public opinion. Currently, ethanol in fuel is marketed as such offering supply and environmental advantages worthy of public support and, for Miguel Zubiri (candidate for a seat in the Philippine Senate), as a political battle cry. They believe, sincerely or not, that ethanol represen | | By: The AnitoKid Chronikos
| | Formula One to use Bio Fuels in 2011 | | 2007-05-20 12:00:53 | | The Formula One bosses have decided that by the beginning of the 2011 season, all of the cars competing in the world championship will be powered by a 2.2 liter V6 turbo charged engine that will run on bio fuel.
Bio fuels are already being used in motor sport, by Audi and Peugeot in their LeMans series cars, and have done very well on it, but Formula One cars running diesel engines, it just doesn’t sound right, after all would this mean the introduction of diesel powered high performance cars such as Porsche, Ferrari and Aston Martin?
If they manage to pull this off, then this will certainly add some serious creditability for the future use of Bio Fuels as a long term viable replacement for gasoline in all types of vehicle.

| | University begin to make bio fuels | | 2007-05-19 12:00:19 | | The University of Wales in Newport, have begun a program that will both save them money and hopefully reduce their carbon footprint too.
The scheme has come about because they have a large amount of waste cooking oil from the university kitchens, to just simply pour it away would be a waste and not very good for the environment, so they have come up with a great idea that will use up the waste cooking oil, save money on diesel fuels for their machinery, such as tractors and even generators, and finally reduce their carbon footprint at the same time.
They have been doing this for nearly two months and by all accounts the process appears to be working as they are able to produce a liter of bio fuel for just 16p (32 cents) while a liter of fuel from their supplier would cost anything up to 38p (76 cents) liter. Thus saving money and reducing their carbon foot print by up to 20 tons a year.

| | Nuclear Power: Energy of the Future or As Bad As Fossil Fuels | | 2007-03-11 18:34:00 | | http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_powerNuclear Power is the controlled use of nuclear reactions to release energy for work including propulsion, heat, and the generation of electricity. Human use of nuclear power to do significant useful work is currently limited to nuclear fission and radioactive decay. Nuclear energy is produced when a fissile material, such as uranium-235 (235U), is concentrated such that nuclear fissionb takes place in a controlled chain reaction and creates heat — which is used to boil water, produce steam, and drive a steam turbine. The turbine can be used for mechanical work and also to generate electricity. Nuclear power is used to power most military submarines and aircraft carriers and provides 7% of the world's energy and 15.7% of the world's electricity.Nuclear power: Its opponents decry it as the most dangerous power source on Earth.
