| Ramil Gallego Wins Hollywood Billiards Memorial Day 10-Ball! | | 2008-05-30 02:39:35 | | Congratulations to Filipino pool player Ramil Gallego, aka Bebeng, for winning the Hollywood Billiards Memorial Day 10-Ball billiards tournament held at the Hollywood Billiards in Hollywood, California, May 24-25, 2008! Bebeng Gallego of Jonathan Sy’s Negros Billiard Stable, won the championship and the $1,600 top prize with an impressive 9-5 score over Jose "Amang" Parica. Amang Parica, the Filipino pool icon who initiated the Filipino invasion, settled for the $1,000 runner-up prize. Louis Ulrich of the United States received $750 for placing third. | | Francisco Django Bustamante and Ramil Gallego Enter San Miguel Beer-Quezon City 9-Ball Championship Semifinals! | | 2008-03-18 15:11:22 | | Billiards in the Philippines is up for more excitement as Francisco Django Bustamante, the All Around Champion of the 2008 Derby City Classic and winner of the International Pool Tour’s 2nd Challenge Match, beat newcomers Carlo Biado and Russian Petiza to secure a slot in the semifinals round of the $30,000 San Miguel Beer-Quezon City 9-Ball Championship held at the Trinoma Mall in Quezon City! Ramil Gallego also overpowered both Rodolfo Luat, aka Boy Samson, and Dondon Razalan, earning him the second slot (of four) in the semifinals. Francisco Bustamante ended the upset runs made by Carlo Biado (9-4 in the 3rd round) and Russian Petiza (9-7 in the quarterfinals). It was Biado who stunned World Pool Champions Efren Bata Reyes, aka The Magician, and Ronnie Alcano, aka The Volcano, on opening day, while Petiza surprised everyone with his win over Alex Pagulayan, aka The Lion.
