| | Cubs lose 4th in 5 games | | 2008-04-30 04:55:00 | | Nobody could have expected to get a win today with Ben Sheets pitching for the Brewers and Jason Marquis going for the Cubs. That should be said first and foremost. They had their chances though, but the Cubs bullpen failed to keep the game close allowing the Brewers to open up a 9-4 lead. The Cubs would make it 9-7 before the Brewers added an insurance run and the final was 10-7.
The Cubs did take 8 walks today, 7 of them against an unusually wild Ben Sheets. They also had 11 hits. Tomorrow’s game is pretty important. The Brewers send Suppan to the mound and the Cubs counter with Dempster. The finale is set up to be a great pitching match-up between Gallardo and Zambrano. Win tomorrow and you might still take 2 of 3. Lose it and there’s a good chance you get swept before you head down to St. Louis who just keeps winning baseball games.
