| DID THAT GLOVEBOX HAVE A LIGHT ? | | 2006-08-08 23:43:00 | | A WHAZAMMO' SEZ' ...It was one of those late-night "get ready" drag racer deals,I do not remember that we drank that much back then, (it took years of poverty, disappointments, and, skanky women to bring on the beer and booze), but, there was this "urgency" to be ready by 0500 for the hour-long tow to Pomona, and the long waiting line.There really was no scheme to prepping for a day against those Landy mopars, the Thunderbolts and Caliente's, or the Nicholson 409, but, there "was" a "bring it" attitude,this was "serious shit".As I remember, they were stainless steel 1/4" X 1/2" hex headed bolts.The time was waning, and we were really trying to do a three hour job in 1/2 an hour...thats when he popped the bolts in his mouth, took an electric drill, and scooted under,there was this zipping noise as the bolts rammed home, then... this choking noise, and a creeper full of 200 pound guy slip-sliding out,As I recall, he was sorta' blue, and on his knees when we pounded on his shoulder... | | By: whazammo and the buffalo | | |
| | BACK FROM HELL'S GLOVEBOX | | 2006-08-07 23:53:00 | | A WHAZAMMO' SEZ' ...It laid there, not breathing ... I dunno' where it came from, I heard this noise... like a flat tire, looked in my rear-view mirror and saw it tumbling down the road after me, in the glow of the blue dots.I laid the skins down, and backed up.Then, had to back up even further to use the headlights, there it was, off the road, in an unceremonious heap-in the ditch... shit ! how do you run over something that big ?Where the hell was it that I didn't see it ?I had flashbacks of the time in Texas... when I was cruisin' in the '66 Hertz rent-a-car at 100 MPH... and this Armadillo walked outta' the bushes, I coulda' filled him with c5, and he would not have detonated like that.... armor plating blew over a 1/4 mile of highway into tuna-can-lid sized pieces-took out my radiator, and, mixed with ethylene glycol ... made for one ugly mess.I grabbed the flashlight, and walked down over the bank...
