    Best Exercises For The Golfers
    2008-09-01 09:36:00
by: Sean CochranWith all the talk about the players on tour getting stronger and more flexible, we hear a lot about exercising for golf from television commentators and read about it in the golf publications. But what exactly are the best exercises for the amateur golfer?A great question that has a good answer, but before we give you the answer let us provide some background so the answer makes a little more sense to you. First of all, discussing the golf swing for the time being will get us rolling. What exactly is the golf swing? The golf swing is an athletic movement that requires using of the entire body from “feet to fingertips” in order to complete the swing. Realize that the golf swing is not about the club, not just about your grip, or where your head is during the swing. The golf swing is a movement that requires your entire body to move through a sequence of movements with the correct timing. To perform the “athletic movement” of the golf swing requires the body to beg...

    Two Golfers
    2008-04-25 03:56:23
A man, while playing on the front nine of a complicated golf course, became confused as to where he was on the course.Looking around, he saw a lady playing ahead of him.He walked up to her, explained his confusion and asked her if she knew thathole he was playing. She replied, "I'm on the 7th hole, and you are a hole behind me, so you must be on the6th hole."He thanked her and went back to his golf.On the back nine the same thing happened; and he approached her again withthe same request. She said, "I'm on the 14th hole, you are a hole behind me, so you must be onthe 13th hole."Once again he thanked her and returned to his play. He finished his round and went to the clubhouse where he saw the same lady sitting at the end of the bar. He asked the bartender if he knew the lady. The bartender said that she was a sales lady and played the course often. He approached her and said, "Let me buy you a drink in appreciation for your help.I understand that you are in the sales profess...

    Mock drug tests annoy golfers
    2008-02-29 02:20:38
LPGA players, miffed at a drug-testing procedure that took hours for some last week at the Fields Open in Hawaii, were slightly less than amused to find out the whole thing was merely a trial run and not the real thing. Some of the players, in Singapore for the HSBC Champions, were whispering that the test had been compromised in some way, a charge flatly denied by LPGA officials."That's absolutely not true," Jill Pilgrim, the tour's general counsel, told Golf World. "We decided in advance to do a trial run so we could see the process in a real-time situation. The only thing we did not do was send the samples to the lab," she said, adding that the players were not told it was merely a trial. "We learned some processes we need to tweak, such as seeing how the notification process works," Pilgrim said. "We did identify areas that did not work well." When asked, she would not divulge what those areas were. "Every area across the board we could do better with," Pilgrim said. The main com...

    Social Network for golfers
    2008-02-28 17:45:04
Social networks are the big thing on the Internet at the moment and by the looks of it they will remain the big thing for some time. It seems a new myspace or facebook is popping up all the time and the biggest sites just keep getting stronger. Today I came across Stracka A Social Network for Golfers that looks the goods.Stracka offers many features and services that golfers will find interesting and down right useful. They provide interactive yardage maps together with course information for many popular courses which include flyover tours. I can see this service being very popular and I would use it before playing an unfamiliar course. Some courses even have a Stracka line guide included which provides a 3D topographical map of each green so you will know what you are up against before you even step foot on the course. This truly is amazing technology! Also included when you sign up is the service where you an post your scores and maintain your handicap. As it is a social networking ...

    2008-02-26 11:52:57
Well recently i switched my sports interests and got a little closer to Golfers and Golf. Though im still not thinking golf as a full time sports career. Not till my retirement. Because til then i only aspire to work and work and work, till i get satisfied or saturated with workaholism. But Golf had been facinating me from a long time, So i thought why not give it a try as a weekend hobbie or a good way to keep me engaged.Well to begin with every sport you must know and understand the basics of the game as well as its good that you know some players too. The best thing would be if you know some people from your local area, with whome you can learn a lot and also get guidance.  But how to find good people fom your locality and city who are golfers. Well I found http://www.stracka.com coming to my rescue. Its one of its kind website which gives you all knowledge of the Sport. Well its my personal review about this site as i got a lot good information from them.I found out that ...

    Golfers
    2008-02-20 23:16:49
Somewhere recently I read that a lot of men aren’t as crazy about golf as they seem. For them, golf serves as an excuse to get away from home and family. I read somewhere else that men can turn off their brains and think of nothing, which is how they can spend do much time playing golf. That obviously doesn’t describe every golfer, because some enjoy golf so much they watch it on TV. THAT I’ll never understand. Golf tournaments don’t even have cheerleaders! Golf is Different in Australia Watch Tiger Woods give away new cars to people who probably already drive new cars. (via Phil’s Phun) Crazy Golf Balls. Play a prank on your golfer friends! One ball explodes, one won’t roll straight, one dissolves into water, and one shoots a stream of ribbons on impact. I wouldn’t recommend using more than one per golfer or outing. Golfers choice - Lucky or Good?
    2007-11-26 02:23:13
This is the age old question, would you rather be lucky or good? Personally I would choose good over lucky everyday, but on those rounds where I wish I was getting paid by the shot I would choose lucky. Now my reason for this is that sometimes a little bit of luck can turn a round into something special. The confidence from something amazing happening during your round can't be discounted. So today I am asking all my readers the question:Would you rather be lucky or good? (leave a comment with your choice)Oh and one last thing - watch this video (it just might change your mind) ...

Top golfers 'won't travel to Australia'
    2007-10-27 15:31:00
Australian golf fans need to get used to the fact that the days of foreign marquee players contesting domestic events are over, according to US Tour star Stuart Appleby.Appleby, in Melbourne for the launch of next month's Australian Masters, said the massive money on offer in America and the tyranny of distance meant the days of major winners playing in Australia were at an end."You're not going to get the top Americans to Australia. It's not going to happen, the business has changed," Appleby said. ...

    Hawaii: Inter-island cruising for golfers
    2007-08-12 00:28:00
NCL’s on-board Club Valet service, which costs $40/day, includes secure storage, club cleaning and delivery of your clubs to the pier each day that you play. Considering how small some cruise-ship rooms are, it may be worth the price just to get your clubs out of the way overnight. Otherwise, club rentals cost from $39/$149 per day/week at the ship’s pro shop, which also rents and sells other golf gear, arranges for golf lessons and can even pair passengers with other players. ...

    Golfers Need Gluteals
    2007-06-13 01:47:00
I came across an article in the Washington Post called Learning How To Twist Like Tiger that is all about golf fitness. Now in Pilates and Golf Pilates in particular we maintain that the most important thing for a healthy spine and body is a stable pelvis/lower back with a highly mobile ribcage and thoracic spine. The main muscles that stabilize the pelvis are the gluteals--minimus, medius, and maximus, which when combined with the transversus abdominus, lumbar multifidus, inner thighs, and pelvic floor protect the lower back from injury.According to author Howard Schneider, "The three gluteal muscles -- maximus, medius and minimus (sounds like a toga party) -- are far more important than the average buns-of-steel infomercial would lead one to believe. Vanity aside, they should be the body's workhorses -- responsible for lifting and carrying and twisting.Coupled with the abdominals and other core muscles, they can surround the lower back with strength and allow a golfer or tennis pl...

    Golfers Warm Up
    2007-05-30 00:37:00
From This Is Local London we have Get in the swing of things with a warm-up which basically touts the positive benefits of warming up before your golf game."When most sportsmen talk about warming up they want to get their muscles warm so they are less susceptible to pulls, strains and tears. What's the first thing we golfers do?That's right, we get two or three clubs and start pumping them around our bodies or, worse still, start using one of those weighted clubs putting cold muscles under threat of exactly what we are attempting to prevent."Tags: Golf Pilates, Golf, News, reiki, pilates, lynda lippin, caribbean, turks, caicos, turks and caicos, providenciales, energy, healing, fitness, exercise ...
