Good - it's Friday and the first day of Spring
    2008-03-21 14:50:00
Today, the 21st March is the first day of Spring. It is the first day of the year when there is more daylight than night. Watch out for those mad March hares ... you can see them in the fields standing on their hind legs with their front paws boxing each other like miniature kangaroos. This is the start of the courtship ritual - the females become quite aggressive and box away the unwanted advances of the males. They are best viewed in the early evenings although later in the year they course or run very quickly across the meadows. It is rumoured that if you are very lucky then you may, perhaps just once in your lifetime witness hares standing in circles. I am still waiting to witness such an event. Perhaps one day I may be lucky enough to see it - I hope that I have my camera handy if I do! Many will have heard the saying "as mad as a March hare." Traditionally, it is now the season for Spring cleaning - and if you are thinking of beginning yours then good luck with that. It is Goo...

Why this Friday is Good Friday?
    2008-03-20 18:25:00
Because today is the moment when Justice and Love meet...Justice always stands for the righteousness and perfection, Justice can't just forgive and forget one single mistake because there is always consequences in every mistake we've done. Just like the police officer has to fine us when he found us breaking the rules. It's his duty to maintain the justice and fine us because of our mistake. On the contrary... Love always giving, always forgive and forget.... To be opposite to Justice, Love doesn't want to punish us, love wants to set us free from our punishment even though we have mistakes... love forgives no matter how many mistakes we've done. Love doesn't remember bad things we've made. Love really accept who we are even though our deeds have hurt Love. How Justice and Love could meet? They are so different, they are so contradictory! Justice can't stand of any mistakes at all, every mistake has to be punished... and if all the mistakes are counted, punishment is too hard to bear! ...

    Good Friday Buns.
    2008-03-20 17:28:00
March 21 ... It is Good Friday today according to the Christian calendar, and the day when it is traditional to eat hot cross buns. Although the phrase ‘cross buns’ was first recorded in 1733, the tradition appears to have very ancient roots. ‘Bread’ in one form or another has played an important symbolic role in all cultures in which grain is a staple (as does rice in Eastern cultures), and it seems that bread marked with a cross-like symbol may go back a very long way indeed – perhaps to Ancient Greece or Ancient Egypt. The original ‘cross’ may in fact have represented the crossed horns of an ox – a traditional sacrifice in many times and places. Today I want to consider when ‘cross buns’ became ‘hot’. I don’t know for sure (another project!), but it was certainly well and truly established by the mid-nineteenth century. Henry Mayhew, in his amazing social study London Labour and the London Poor: A Cyclopaedia of the Condition and Earnings of Those tha...

    A Good Friday
    2007-04-28 01:11:10
First of all, we have a boy's name!  Woohoo!  I love it so much.  I'm just going to tell you what it means and maybe you can guess it.  The first and middle names together mean "the Lord remembers small things" or alternately "the Lord remembers the humble".  It too is a name that has never been on my top names list, but suddenly became THE perfect name.  But that has happened with all my children.Today was much better than yesterday.  Yesterday I was discouraged because it was just one of those days where nothing ends up getting done and you don't know why.  Today I ended up having my morning routine done by 10 which enabled us to finish school AND organize a closet before lunch.  During rest time I had a very restful nap then got up refreshed and cleaned a floor.  This evening all the guys played football in the yard while I  made some barbecue chicken on the grill.  Now the three boys are lying here beside me trying...

Sexta Feira Santa (Good Friday) no Aeroporto
    2007-04-06 12:00:00
Boa viagem Mary! Confiram o texto abaixo. When we arrive at the airport, there are long check-in lines. When we get to the check-in counter, we are told my flight has been cancelled. The next flight leaves in the evening, so I will be spending the day in the airport.Looking at the departure screen, I see there are flights I could take leaving sooner, so I go to the terminal where the next flight is leaving and ask at the desk if I can fly stand-by. I am told yes, if I go to the customer service desk in another terminal. There is not enough time to...
