Too much of a good thing is no good
    2008-09-12 12:11:17
I have been stressing out lately over some personal issue, and you know, it makes me feel like I am growing old too fast. It is not really easy to get motivated when you have problems and with me I usually get depressed. What I noticed from spending too much time dwelling on my problems is that it affected me not only emotionally but also physically in which I suffer from aches and pains. In fact...

NBA Drafted High School Players with Not Playing No College Ball from Graduation to Professional Sports in Basketball is it Good Thing to Happen
    2008-08-12 16:49:02
I am a major basketball fan. When I watching sports news talking about the draft 2008. Saying so many are being drafted right out high school with them not playing college ball. It got me thinking is that such a good thing with not gaining life skills that can be learned in college. When drafted given a bunch of money when barely even 18 that might not be a good thing. I am sure the guys or boys are very talented and play a great game that is why they are chosen. With so many players just out ...

    Good Thing I Asked
    2008-08-12 12:37:00
I picked up a nasty cold the other day and after having a very long night of waking up due to coughing I decided to go to the local drug store. After looking around for a bit I decided on a med that has both one for waking hours and another for when you are asleep. I have taken this before so I knew it was pretty effective. I was about to head for the cashier when a thought appeared in my head that maybe I should ask the pharmacist about the interaction between the cough med and the drugs I take on a daily basis. My belief was the only danger would be a high rate of sedation with the night meds but turns out I was wrong.I told the pharmacist what meds I was taking and asked if it was okay to take the cough med. After the typical look I get when I mention the medication I am on he stated that "I can not take a med that has a decongestant in it for it will make me dizzy, shake plus put my heart rate way up". He found another med for me and hopefully that will work and it is a good ...

When Company Downtime is actually a good thing
    2008-08-01 07:49:44
According to this article in the Wall Street Journal, When SuperGroup Creative Omnimedia, (a Web site design firm) was created, employees didn’t always have enough work to keep their hands and minds busy. Nevertheless, instead of sending employees home—or to the unemployment line— SGCO owner Chris Wallace and the rest of the company’s co-founders decided [...] ...

    "Hope" is a good thing...
    2008-07-24 23:16:09
In the classic movie The Shawshank Redemption, Tim Robbins' character says, "Hope is a good thing; maybe the best of things."  Every year, as we enter training camp, I'm often reminded of that line.  After all, last season officially means nothing anymore and in the NFL, things can change quickly. As a Dolphin fan, all we can ask for to start each and every season is "hope." Armando Salguero wrote a little blurb on his blog yesterday about what he's hopeful for this season.  But the thing is, he really isn't a Dolphin fan.  He doesn't have the passion for the Dolphins that die-hards like all of us have.  So reading his list really doesn't mean much.  In fact, reading his 5th reason makes me cringe.  He hopes the Dolphins don't suck, but are bad enough to have a top 3 pick.  I'm sorry, but it isn't until December when I start thinking about the draft.  Until then, it's all about the "W's." So as we sit here on the day that the players are to ...

Getting Stumbled is a Good Thing
    2008-07-20 09:51:45
I have seen many blogs that like to give out a bit of ‘link love‘ every now and then, just as I did the other day. I was looking at my traffic log and noticed something interesting…the aforementioned post had been stumbled and was generating traffic. Wow…I’ve never had a stumbled post actually do what [...]...

Credit Cards for Single Moms are a Good Thing
    2008-07-15 00:00:00
I was talking to a friend of mine recently, a single mom. She was in the process of buying her first home. She was able to make the payments and had a down payment all set, but she had not enough credit history to secure the mortgage. She told me that the mortgage guy said she [...]...

Demise of pay drivers in Formula 1 - Is it a good thing ?
    2008-05-31 06:25:42
It looks like after many years there are no pay drivers on Formula 1 grid. Their last sanctuary disapeared when Vijay Mallya took over Spyker F1. The last proper pay driver - Christijan Albers - left the grid even earlier. Not (as he should) because of his mediocre performances, but because his sponsor stopped sending [...]...

Florida man ticketed for wearing a speedo - good thing he wasn't naked!
    2008-05-15 07:47:25
Don't Tase Me Bro! (rapidly becoming one of my favorite blogs) reported yesterday that a Florida man was ticketed by a Lee County deputy sheriff for wearing a speedo on Bonita Beach. The man had been coming to the beach for years without problems. Good thing he wasn't nude or he probably would have been arrested.Every state in the union has laws against indecent exposure (quite rightly) but few of those laws make a distinction between indecent exposure and public nudity, and even where not expressly forbidden, states allow local cities and towns to make their own laws.Massachusetts laws in their entirety read as follows:CHAPTER 272. CRIMES AGAINST CHASTITY, MORALITY, DECENCY AND GOOD ORDER Chapter 272: Section 16 Open and gross lewdness and lascivious behavior Section 16. A man or woman, married or unmarried, who is guilty of open and gross lewdness and lascivious behavior, shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for not more than three years or in jai...

Finally Slept and It's A Good Thing
    2007-10-17 14:21:47
It took me over an hour to wind down last night after I ran on adreneline for most of the day yesterday. I finally settled down and slept well and now I have a marathon day -- IEP meeting followed by psych appointment, a business lunch, and a doctor's appointment. Then tonight I'm single mom for a while as Bart is heading to get Kyle and take him to Blue Man Group tonight. The next two days are full as well and there is no school (if you're a Minnesotan you know all about "MEA Weekend." The weekend will be filled with packing and cleaning and organizing and then we'll go to Texas Sunday to meet the new boys.I'm thankful that my blog readership is at an all time high but I guess if I'd have to choose between no drama and fewer readers I might choose that instead....

Is global warming a good thing?
    2007-05-16 10:53:01
Almost all of the press coverage that you see is of the view that global warming is a “bad thing” and we should be getting the finger out to stop it happening. But, is it? This is a painting by Hondius in 1684 of one of the regular Frost Fairs taking place on the Thames. In fact both the Thames and the Baltic Sea froze over quite regularly in the 1600s. That was prior to the industrial revolution of course and combined with a much lower population, pollution at that time was considerably less than it would have been 150 or so years later. The “Black Country” wasn’t named that for nothing as it was filled with major league polluters during the industrial revolution. Did the industrial revolution stop us getting into another ice age? Nobody can really say as there are just too many variables in the equation: you’ve everything from the industrial revolution raising pollution levels considerably to sunspot cycles and to top it all the records over the ...
