| Texas Instruments Poised To Be Major Gphone Chip Producer | | 2008-02-11 22:54:59 | | According to Information Week.com TI is poised to be the leading chip manufacturer of Google's Android based phones. While this doesn't come as a huge surprise or revelation considering Texas Instruments history in handset manufacturing, the article by Alexander Wolfe does lay out some pretty good reasons why TI's OMAP processor is the "right fit" for Android Phones. Texas Instruments is expected to have a working model of one of these handsets in Barcelona today, so keep checking back for pics and specs.As promised here's a pic of a device running on the Texas Instrument OMAP 3430 at 500 MHz. Google wants to follow the steps of th iPhone with there realese of the GPhone. Google has put in cuckoo money into the GPhone they are looking to catch in on the mobile advertising nich.
The GPhone will already have integrated Google products, such as its search engine, webmail and Google Maps. Mmmm dont I already have this on my Blackberry, well yes I do wow how innovative LOL .
The GPhone prototype phones have been shown to the likes of Verizon Wireless and AT&T so we might see them soon. (more…)
