Shit Can the High School Graduation Party
    2008-05-02 09:27:00
I had a lot of time to think this past weekend since I drove to Indianapolis on Friday and returned on Saturday night. Ten hours driving alone in my car listening to talk shows in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana as I drove through these states. While most of the talk pertained to local affairs one thread that was in each state was the shape of our education system from K-16. I also thought about

This past fall semester, at Duke University, there were two sophomores who were taking Organic Chemistry and who did pretty well on all of the quizzes, midterms, labs, etc. Going into the final exam, they had solid “A’s.” These two friends were so confident going into the final that the weekend before finals week (even [...]

    Little Bro's Graduation....
    2008-04-01 02:05:00
"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You're on your own.And you know what you know. You are the guy who'll decide where to go."-----Dr. Seuss-----March is a graduation month, and it means that it's also my little bro's graduation...yep I do have a brother. He's name is Giovanni, I'm the one who gave he's name.I got that name from my crush when I'm just 7 years old (prep days!..hahaha). My bro is 16 years old now and he recently graduated in highschool, last March 26,2007 at Saint Peter's College of Toril ("My highschool alma mater also") too bad I don't witness my bro's graduation. My bro and I are extremely opposite to each other he's smarter than me, he knows everything about sports and he can play it well ("he's also a varsity in badminton and basketball in spct"), while me?I know only badminton but not a good player ("hahaha..poor aubrey") and he's more good looking than me..(grrr...I hate this idea...hahahaha),

At least we still have graduation rates
    2008-02-19 07:02:38
At a school where the slogan "success with honor" used to always hold true, it's falling further and further away. There was a time where the team would keep its respective nose clean, graduate , and win games against teams other than Akron... Now, there are fights left and right; players arguing with opposing teams fans on the road and making gestures instead of being on the phone with their QB coach; and there are constant questions being asked if the team was always like this or they are just getting caught now. Yesterday is no exception to the rule http://www.collegian.psu.edu/archive/2008/02/18/timmons_not_expelled.asp... FTA:: Defensive back Knowledge Timmons received probation until graduation and banishment from on-campus living at his Jan. 29 Judicial Affairs hearing, he said in an interview Saturday. At least we have graduation rates; and own Akron... read more

Have more or less written off the College Life and the Graduation (sigh :) at the Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar
    2007-08-25 05:57:00
In the beginning, it appeared that three years would be a long time, but as one teacher (Mr Jaiteg Singh) suggested that these three years would pass just like that, and puff! it really did disappear like thatThose crushes, rivalries, enmity, friendships, NCC etc, now shifted to a place called memories :)Well, as I once read somewhere, distance does not matter for those who are friends, and today, thanks to Internet, orkut.com and mobiles, remaining touch is easier than ever before.College has been one of the glowing parts of my academic career. Will miss you buddies and will miss the college Life. Looking fwd to the Future(keywords: Last Days of College)Geotag:31.3256;75.5792 On map--

    Graduation Gift
    2007-07-05 03:00:43
When you are studying, you hope you can quickly grow up and be adults. Adults are so good. They can do what they want and they can command you to do work. This is what I thought as a child. Studies is so hard. You need to learn for examinations, you need to wake up early to attend classes. I yearn to stop school many times. But what do I want to do if I stopped school? This is a paper qualification society. Everywhere you go, how to tell you apart from other people, is just some paper that you have. To get that special paper, I need to persevere. I worked hard. I attended lectures and tutorials. I went to Junior College and University. I was wondering I should go Polytechnic or University. There was no courses which is of interest to me many years back. However, now there are so many courses in Polytechnic such as Physiotherapy, occupational therapy, Childcare Teaching, and Psychology which I like to study. Of course there were Psychology in the University. However, I was not sure o

    Graduation
    2007-06-21 15:56:49
They marched in to Pomp and Circumstance, and took their places on the stage. We said the Pledge and the band played the Star-Spangled Banner before the ceremony began. One of their classmates spoke followed by the school principal, and the vice principal. Then the 8th grade choir sang “I Hope You Dance” before a few special awards were given out. Our girl got the Creative Writing award. Certificates were handed out one by one, and then the whole class exited to Pomp and Circumstance again.  And that’s it.  Eight grade is over–she’s officially a high school Freshman! And get this–she’s starting high school with two advanced classes–Spanish 2 and Algebra 2.  She’s going to have her hands full but we know she’ll excel. Congratulations, Meggie!  We’re so proud of you!

    Graduation Cap LED Hack
    2007-06-20 13:48:58
Long time Hacked Gadgets reader Chris Rybitski sent in this cool Graduation Cap LED Hack. It uses a blue LED to add some electronic goodness to a plain old Grad Cap. By the way, congratulations on graduating Chris! “I used three button cells from a light up bouncy ball to power the high intensity blue LED. Then I hot glued the batteries to the inside of the cap. To turn on the LED I just put my hand up to the side of my cap and push. Originally I wanted the switch to be in my gown sleeve, but I had no way of hiding the wire going from the cap to the gown. If I had long hair I could have pulled it off. The LED is hardly noticeable until I press the button.”

    Happy Graduation!
    2007-06-14 04:51:00
Graduation day~ is the action of receiving or conferring an academic degree or the associated ceremony. The date of event is often called degree day. The event itself is also called commencement, convocation or invocation. In the United States and Canada, it is also used to refer to the advancement from a primary or secondary school level. Many colleges have different traditions associated with the graduation ceremony, the best-known probably being throwing mortarboards in the air. This day is very the happy one for all graduants. Study so hard (ahem) finally get to graduate, happy right? People likes to take alot of photos in graduation day. 90% wear their gowns at home, posing in front of the mirror. Wah, anticipating the "big" day. Some people say its good to graduate so can move on to the working life, some hate it because they feel their happy days is over. In college, parents pay for everything. No worries. Now, so many things come knocking..loans, petrol, ciggy, food, leisure and

ACLU reports complaint from graduation guest
    2007-05-21 16:09:24
A guest at one of the high school graduation ceremonies in Ouachita Parish has contacted the Louisiana American Civil Liberties Union to complain about religious activities at a public event, Executive Director Joe Cook said Thursday. The person, whom Cook would not identify, was not related to any of the graduates. “We still entertained the complaint but would like to have a relative or a student,” Cook said. “In this particular case, they were very disturbed by what happened.” Here’s a suggestion, get UN-disturbed, I also attended a graduation in Louisiana, last Thursday night, and there was an invocation and we ALL recited the Pledge of Allegiance, but you know what, I didn’t see one solitary soul hold a gun on ANYONE and make them participate, it was an elective participation, and I am pretty sure that while some may have been disappointed if their guests or loved ones hadn’t taken part, I doubt anyone would have been ostracized, at least
