Chang Jung-Lin Wins Guinness 9 Ball Leg in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia!
    2008-06-01 04:56:31
Billiards update! From the Guinness 9 Ball Tour, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Once again, Chinese-Taipei's Chang Jung-Lin, makes it a hat-trick of titles as he takes down his third consecutive Guinness 9-Ball Tour title at Genting Highlands. The Taiwanese was simply unbeatable in the finals as he muscled his way past Filipino pool player Antonio Gabica, aka Gaga, with a score of 11-6. Chang Jung-Lin came out of the blocks like a bullet and raced to a 4-0 lead before Gabica managed to get his first rack on the board to make it 4-1. Gaga's confidence went back up and he took down the next three racks to set it up nicely at 4-4. The crowd was ecstatic as they rallied behind the Filipino pool player but it was all downhill from there on as the defending champion refused to allow Gaga Gabica a chance to get back in the game. If it was a boxing match, it would have been a done deal as Chang pulverized the table and snatched the next six racks to go on the hill at 10-4. By this time, G

Diageo to revamp historic Guinness site in Dublin

Diageo, the famed Irish stout's British-based parent company and the world's largest producer of alcoholic drinks, brews a billion pints a year of the "black Stuff".Recent weeks were abuzz with press speculation that Diageo would sell the world brand's historic birthplace and build a new brewery outside the city. Irish Guinness drinkers had taken it hard."If Guinness pulled out of St. James's Gate, I'd never drink Guinn

TEENAGER Rachel Aldana is to star in the Guinness Book of Records for having Britain's biggest boobs - a titanic 32JJ.They make Jordan's 34FF pair look like poached eggs - and unlike the model, Rachel's ones are NATURAL.But hairdresser Rachel, 18, pays a heavy price for her monster mammaries. Each one weighs a staggering 2.4KG - more than a large bag of potatoes - which means she suffers permanent back pain. And her outstanding assets bring a daily gauntlet of leers from blokes and bitching from women.Rachel, from Brackley, Northants, said: "It's fantastic about the record but I'm totally out of proportion. I'm 5ft 6ins yet I have these huge breasts. I look like a Barbie doll - and it's caused grief all my life."She added: "Blokes stop and stare at me. It can be intimidating and it's made me rather dubious about men. But the women are worse. They look at me like I'm filth and tell me I'm attention-seeking."Rachel, who says she is "happily" single, reckons her boobs are hereditary. She sai

The world's fattest man, according to the Guinness Book of Records, proudly announced Tuesday he dropped 230 kilograms (570 pounds), nearly half his original weight in less time than doctors had expected. Oddest and Funny Old Guinness World Records
    2008-02-23 23:54:05
"The Guinness Book of World Records" is a fascinating read, page after page of stupid human tricks. Some are just more stupid than others. In honor of the 50th anniversary of the "Guinness Book of World Records," Britain's Mirror newspaper meticulously combed through all the listings and chose the oddest entries for a single fun-to-read list! Here are the top 25 entries.Fastest Talker: In 1995, Canadian Sean Shannon recited Hamlet's "To be or not to be" soliloquy, which is 260 words, in just 23.8 seconds.Heaviest Vehicle Pulled Over 100 Feet: In 2004, Derek Boyer of Australia pulled a 30.68-ton truck-trailer 30.5 meters.Highest Shallow Dive: In January 2004, Danny Higginbottom of Louisiana dove from a height of 8.90 meters into 30 centimeters of water.Breath Held Voluntarily: American Robert Foster held his breath for 13 minutes, 42.5 seconds in 1959.Longest Time to Endure Full Body Ice Contact: Wim Hoff of the Netherlands stood in an ice cube-filled tube for 1 hour, 17 minutes in Janu

Guinness World Record Breaking Oxyride AA Battery Powered Car
    2008-01-10 03:04:38
Basically everybody knows about AA sized batteries. Some people use it to power their children’s toys, digital camera, & etc. I use AA batteries to power my torchlight. How about using AA batteries to power a car?I do not know but would like to find out the genius behind the 192 Matsushita Oxyride AA dry-cell batteries that powered the Guiness World Record breaking battery powered car, the Panasonic Oxyride Vehicle. It was not mentioned the number of batteries used & whether the batteries were normal 1.5 volt AA batteries or an advanced version of AA batteries. Nonetheless, Oxyride AA batteries (composition of Oxy Nickel Hydroxide) were known to be 1.5 multiples more powerful than normal AA alkaline batteries. I hope the cheap, rechargeable, & road legal version of the Oxyride car goes into production.Lol.Some facts about the Panasonic Oxyride Vehicle:Power supply: 192 Matsushita Oxyride AA dry-cell batteriesTop speed: 122.00 kph (75.81 mph) during time trials in the presence of a Japanese agent for Guinness. The vehicle was claimed to be the fastest average speed achieved by a dry cell-powered vehicle.Weight: 38-kilogramme (84-pound)Length: 3.3 metres (10.8-foot)Width: 78 centimetres (2.6-foot)Height: 56 centimetres (1.8-foot)Manufacturer: Students at Osaka Sangyo University with the help of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co.Materials: Carbon fibre reinforced plastic (a strong and light composite material)The Vehicle's run over one kilometre (0.6 mile) was measured twice in order to set aside any result affected by wind and other negative factors.Reference:Physics:Tech:Nano:News, Science:. The Grinch that stole Guinness
    2007-12-07 12:14:40
This, as you may have guessed, is an important time of year for us Shark Guys, as we enter the Christmas drinking season and prepare ourselves for yet more tales of drunken Santas, holiday office party chicanery (For our Holiday Office Party Tips click here), and the related reasons why it is best not to include mistletoe at a party where lower-level managers are known for their "Russian hands and Roman fingers" after too many dips into the spiked punch. (For a fuller treatment on this very theme we recommend that you check out the “Festive Cheers: Hooch on the Holidays” chapter of our “The Man Who Scared a Shark to Death: and other true tales of drunken debauchery"). What makes the holidays memorable – aside from family tensions reaching the breaking point and the prospect of imminent financial ruin in the New Year – is, of course, booze, and brewers around the world have smiles on their faces at this time of year that have little to do with stirring religious convictions or sentimental remembrances of gassy mall Santas passing out candy canes and charging 10 bucks a pop for photos. The steady flow of brewer’s booze into pubs is one of those systems that we take for granted, but it is crucial to properly enjoying the holidays and meeting its stressors with rosy cheeks and a good disposition. Recently, a thief in Ireland stole a record haul of booze from the Guinness brewery, thus throwing this delicate and vital link between brewer and boozehound into jeopardy. According to The Irish Times, the thief drove a truck into the Guinness Brewery, hitched it up to a trailer with 450 kegs of beer in tow, and drove off. In addition to 180 kegs of the black gold, the thief also made off with 180 kegs of Budweiser, and 90 kegs of Carlsberg. It may be argued that the thief did the drinkers of Dublin a favor by limiting the flow of Budweiser into the city, but in the case of the black gold or “a sandwich in a glass”, as it has been known to The Shark Guys during

Guinness Uses Dominoes to Start Viral Campaign
    2007-11-20 13:51:34
Here is an example of a well crafted and well funded online marketing campaign. That ties together a campaign website, online video, and the most expensive commercial that Guinness has ever produced. The treasure hunt begins at the Guinness contest website. There you will be challenged to unlock 11 dominoes. Each domino represents a scene from the new Guinness ad. To unlock the dominoes, you must look for clues hidden in the video clips and visit additional contest websites to find the hidden codes. Once you unlock all 11 dominoes and put the ad together you win a golden domino.

Guinness Book Record Broken by 1,730 Guitarists in India
    2007-10-27 16:13:53
Here's some interesting news, ATOMIC fans. A year ago 1,721 guitarists in Kansas City gathered to play "Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple, setting a Guinness Book record. Just yesterday Reuters reported 1,730 guitarists in Shillong, India assembled in a stadium and played Bob Dylan's "Knockin' on Heaven's Door." However... the record could be incorrect. A commenter on the article at Rolling Stong Magazine claims 1,802 German guitarists played "Smoke on the Water" during June of this year. What I would like to see is something like 2,000 guitarists performing "The Wind Cries Mary." That would be crazy cool. Any ATOMICians up for the challenge?

    Nuevos Record Guinness
    2007-09-22 16:13:24

Another Guinness World Record: Longest Contiguous Line of MINIs
    2007-06-13 11:06:03
Filed under: Etc., MINI How many MINIs does it take to screw in a light bulb earn a world record? Apparently 273. Last Sunday, June 10, 273 MINIs old and new lined up at Virginia Beach and stretched over five miles to re-establish the record for the longest continuous line of MINIs set just last year. The parade of MINIs just edged the 269 cars that congregated in the UK last year. The tiny cars assembled and then drove along “in an uninterrupted chain more than 5 miles long!” Survivor Season One finalist, Rudy Boesch, led the parade of cars that got rolling at 1 PM. Some two hours later the last MINI was underway. 40 minutes later the group had covered 5.8 miles and set the record. Five miles of MINIs sounds like some kind of punchline, but it’s an official Guiness-certified World Record now. Or at least it will be when the paperwork reaches Guinness World Record Headquarters in London next week. There’s an online album of pics from the event available by cli
