    Gun Control in Albany
    2008-05-13 21:00:00
Politicians in Albany, New York, are keeping up their anti-gun ways. Their "task force on gun violence" is meeting to come up with new gun control laws, even when 80 percent of the violent crime in Albany doesn't involve guns at all. Doesn't it make more sense for politicians to focus on people committing violent crime, instead of guns? Of course it does - if the politicians are really serious about making Albany safer. But they're more interested in getting headlines than providing solutions....(read more)...

For All You Alices, Nancys & Sallys Who Didn't Like What I Had To Say About Gun Control. . . .
    2008-05-01 12:30:21
And this. . . A commie who works in my office told me that we couldn't discuss the issue any further because we were too different on the issue. Bullshi*. This is not an issue I will drop. Their ideas are dangerous because they affect people's safety in an explicit way. Of course that won't matter to them. Being a liberal means never having to say your sorry. More on the Supreme Court’s Washington DC Gun Control Decision
    2008-03-18 19:23:43
The supreme court heard arguments today on Washington D.C.’s handgun ban. As I wrote about here, it appears that the supreme court is ready to rule that an individual does have the right to keep and bear arms. Opponents believe the second amendment applies only to state militias. Today’s apparent decision is a victory, however [...]...

Supreme Court to Hear Gun Control Case This Week
    2008-03-16 20:44:01
This week offers the first real test of what I believe will be President Bush’s most important legacy. Long after President Bush has left office, and long after the Iraq war, his lasting impression will be that of his supreme court nominations of Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Sam Alito.  This week the supreme court [...]...

    Gun Control Retreat
    2007-10-24 04:00:00
A new survey from The Gallup Poll shows great news for gun owners. In every section of the country, support for more gun control is falling. In the East, support for more gun control has dropped 16 percentage points over the past six years. In urban areas, support for more gun control has dropped 11 percentage points. Among women, support for more gun control's declined 12 percentage points. In every demographic, across the board, the gun control movement isn't just losing momentum, it's losing ground....(read more)...

An interesting email we received about Gun Control History
    2007-07-17 19:49:00
July 17, 2007 Unknown Author   Whether you agree or not, it's an interesting lesson in history and something to think about...   In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.   In 1911, Turkey established gun control.  From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.   Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.   China established gun control in 1935.  From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.   Guatemala established gun control in 1964.  From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.   Uganda established gun co...

    Gun Control is Forced Helplessness
    2007-06-01 00:05:00
Being someone who does not own a gun, it might seem astonishing to hear that I am staunchly supportive of gun rights. I did not always hold these views, however. In fact, I once thought that all guns should be banned in this Country in order to reduce crime. I used to think that we would all feel safe if only we had tougher gun control laws. In reality, I never heard the other side’s argument and was grossly uninformed.Gun rights serves two major purposes: First, it allows individuals to protect themselves when the Government is unable to protect them; second, it allows individuals to protect themselves from the Government when it unjustly attacks them. The truth is that liberty cannot thrive in a country where its citizens are prohibited from protecting themselves. Preventing people from owning guns is nothing more than forced helplessness. While there are those who assert that Governments would never attack its own citizens, that argument can be quickly dispelled by looking at other...

Gun Control and other Various Rants
    2007-04-22 18:59:00
Let's start off this round with an obvious topic. The latest rash of random gun violence in the United States has set off the anti-gun crowd once again. In Canada, we have had our share of nutjobs who decide to shoot up universities. And, like in the U.S., we are debating and focusing on the wrong issue. While the pro-gun control crowd labels anyone who doesn't support their views as 'in bed with the NRA' and, as one witness of the Montreal incident last fall stated: "...as guilty as the killer...", they cling to the pipe dream that some sort of 'ban' will eliminate the threat of this happening. Because, as we all know, potential criminals are going to be first in line to register their guns, right? The brutal truth is, if there had been a few teachers/administrators/students in Virginia that had access to a weapon, some lives could have been saved.....Moving on............there was a time when G.Q. magazine had true substance and style. Now, it's just another liberal pub...
