John Travolta Pushes the Envelope in Hairspray Movie
    2007-11-29 10:17:36
Fans of the 60s music & dancing styles would find the Hairpsray movie a blast from the past. Not big fans of 60s music & dancing on the other hand may find the movie a little too “old”. John Travolta acting as a serious woman character is so weird.I mean the Hairpsray movie is not even a comedy. It is ok for comedy movies but John is really pushing the envelope with regards to his sexuality. Well, at least there are no scenes where John kisses Christopher Walken who plays Wilbur Turnblad, Edna’s (John Travolta) husband. Lol :)

    Zac Efron in Hairspray Movie
    2007-11-28 12:59:39
The Hairspray movie is about a big & beautiful lady becoming the star of a television series in the background of racial segregation of the black & white races in the 60s U.S. Zac Efron of the Holiday School Musical 2 movie is also the leading character, Link Larkin in the Hairspray movie. It is kind of new seeing him in a movie without his beloved girlfriend, Vanessa Anne Hudges in it as well.

    Hairspray
    2007-09-14 23:24:17
Watched Hairspray. Loved it! :DHonestly, I didn't know what it was all about. Was planning to watch Knocked Up but there were no morning screenings. But when Nikki Blonsky who played Tracy Turnblad started singing Good Morning Baltimore at the opening of the movie, I knew I was going to love the movie. It's one of the best feel good movies ever! Every minute was packed with laughs and smile and made me so wanna dance! Plus the songs in the movie were really lovely. Wanna download it hehe.John Travolta did an awesome job in playing the role of Edna Turnblad, Tracy's mom. At first we were like "ewww" and couldn't accept it because she was sooo huge. Lol. Michelle Pfeiffer looked lovely although a bit too skinny? And Zac Efron! I was totally smitten. He looked SO good. Uber cute! I'm so going to google him after this. I have yet to watch High School Musical 1 & 2 but now I'm itching to watch 'em. The rest of the cast was fantastic too ^___^

    Hairspray (2007)
    2007-07-16 18:35:00
Production Status: In Production/Awaiting ReleaseGenres: Musical/Performing Arts, Adaptation and RemakeRunning Time: 1 hr. 55 min.Release Date: July 20th, 2007 (wide)MPAA Rating: PG for language, some suggestive content and momentarily teen smoking.Distributors: New Line CinemaProduction Co.: Ingenious Media, Offspring Entertainment, Zadan/Meron ProductionsStudios: New Line CinemaFilming Locations: Toronto, CanadaProduced in: United StateTracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart, has only one passion--dancing. Her dream is to appear on "The Corny Collins Show," Baltimore's hippest dance party on TV. Tracy seems a natural fit for the show except for one not-so-little problem--she doesn't fit in. Her plus-sized figure has always set her apart from the cool crowd, which she is reminded of by her loving but overly protective plus-sized mother, Edna. That doesn't stop Tracy because if there is one thing that this girl knows, it's that she was born to dance. After wowing Corny Collins at her high school dance, Tracy wins a spot on his show and becomes an instant on-air sensation, much to the chagrin of the show's reigning princess, Amber Von Tussle, and her scheming mother, Velma, who runs television station WYZT. Even worse for Amber is the fact that it's not just the audience who loves the new girl in town; Amber's sweetheart, Link Larkin, seems to be smitten with Tracy's charms as well. This dance party gets personal as a bitter feud erupts between the girls as they compete for the coveted "Miss Teenage Hairspray" crown. At school, however, a short stint in detention and raised-eyebrows caused by the budding relationship between her best friend Penny Pingleton and Seaweed opens Tracy's eyes to a bigger issue than the latest dance craze or the coolest hairdo--racial inequality. Throwing caution to the wind, she leads a march with Motormouth Maybelle to fight for integration and winds up with an arrest warrant instead. Tracy is on the lam
